Review: Veteran DJ and producer Nic Fanciulli lands at Hot Creations with his first original material for the label, the aptly titled "You Sure Do" EP. This two-tracker wastes no time showcasing Fanciulli's ability to craft dancefloor bombs that pay homage to the past while sounding fresh and current. The opening track, "YSD," is a full-on disco-infused house anthem. Fanciulli lays down a foundation of massive basslines and a pounding drum groove, creating an atmosphere guaranteed to get bodies moving. The track isn't just a nostalgic throwback, though. Review: As the title suggests, this quietly impressive compilation draws together the "best bits" of Johannes Kolter's KOLTERCAMP imprint, a digital-only label he's long used as a vehicle for his own productions. In some ways, it feels like an introduction to the Cologne artist's work - or one side of it, at least (he also has the more rugged KOLTRAX series and guest releases on other labels). Highlights include the Alicia Myers-sampling disco-house chunkiness of 'Be Real', the insanely funky, P-funk sampling US house bump of 'Get Sexy', the sun-splashed jazz-house deepness of 'Duke', the effortlessly soulful shuffle of 'Sunny Days' and the spacey deep house wonder that is 'Let You Go'. An impressive collection of Kolter cuts all told.

Review: Paris-based producer Vitess continues his flow of music following releases on Up The Stuss, LOCUS and Shall Not Fade, in addition to his own Retro Futura imprint. Vitess' latest five-track special, Visions, for Rossi's HOMEGROWN label provides the artist with a second appearance there - making himself known with the stand out track on this EP, "Blue Vision", somewhat already anthemic in its appeal thanks it synth-driven energy and dancefloor operandi. Turning up the sultry disco fever and French touch vibes in "Jami Rocaille" - other numbers like "First Night" so richly remind us of The Ones "Flawless", while "Big Sound" throws in some dubbier house action. Review: Given that his Crosstown Rebels label debut, 'Horizon Red', was widely praised as one of the underground club cuts of 2023, hopes are naturally high for Made In Pete's speedy sequel. In its original form (track one), 'Fires' is a burning hot (sorry) blend of moody vocals (and vocalisations), shuffling house beats, rubbery synth-bass and meandering TB-303 acid motifs. He provides a tougher, darker and more after-hours-friendly 'Dub Mix' of his own, while the package also boasts two other revisions: a deeper, dreamier and more loose-limbed rework by UK scene stalwart Bushwacka!, and a deliciously dark, twisted and mind-mangling tribal house-goes-acid rework courtesy of Victor Calderone and Mykol.

Review: Constant Sound is back with more of its constantly good sonics, this time from Dennis Quin who offers up a potent blend of raw minimal, tech and house. 'My Belief' is the sort of cut to get clubs marching as one to the jacked-up drums and whirring synth motifs. 'Hear Dis' has plenty of infectious garage skip to it and 'Eighty Four' layers up slick percussion with bumping drum funk and some nice exotic vocal samples. There will be an all-out party whenever 'Call For House' gets dropped with its wild synth lines and yelling vocals perfect for amping up the crowd.

Review: This 2024 reissue of an all time and much love classic Raumgleiter by Der Dritte Raum presents an exceptional concept trance album that remains ahead of its time, defying the stigma once and sometimes attached to the genre. Highlighting tracks like "Hale Bopp" and "Polarstern," which made waves in big rooms at the time, the real gem lies in "Lava," transitioning seamlessly from acid builds to progressive trance, which then leads perfectly into "Hale Bopp." Der Dritte Raum's hypnotic beats and catchy melodies went far to transport listeners to other dimensions back in the day, and a fresh 2024 re-up does the same thing- groundbreaking stuff for trance enthusiasts.

Review: Joseph Price has been serving up solid (and sometimes sensational) fare as Third Son for the best part of a decade, showcasing his wares on labels including Cajual Records, Unknown To The Unknown, Stil Vor Talent and 17 Steps. Here Price makes his belated bow on Lost Palms via a mini-album containing eight tried-and-tested treats. Check first the sparkling, melody rich title track 'If You Remember The 90s You Weren't There', a bouncy fusion of vintage progressive house cheeriness, sun-splashed deep house and nods to the classier end of mid-90s trance, before admiring the joyous melodic techno of 'Wisdom of the Crowd' and the warehouse-ready headiness of 'Posing For Pictures When It's a Video'. We also recommend the 'Erotic Discourse'-esque wonkiness of 'Descartes Before The Horse'.

Review: Back in the late 1990s, German producers Jorge Henze and Jerome Isma-Ae released a string of now sought-after 12-inch singles as ACME. 'Soul of Life', from 1998, is one of their most in-demand EPs - hence this belated digital reissue. What makes the three-track collection so unique is its incorporation of speed garage (as it was then called) elements alongside contemporaneous house and tech-house sounds. This hybrid sound is best exemplified by the skipping, dubby and glassy-eyed 'Soul of Life I', though the more melodious, deep house influenced 'Soul of Life II' - all saucer-eyed pads, tactile organ riffs and smooth grooves - is almost as impressive. 'Soul of Life III', the EP's final variation, opts for a Grant Nelson style late '90s 4/4 UK garage flex.

Review: Acid house in sound but punk in nature, the title of Paranoid London's new album is a reference to "the cavalcade of c***s we find ourselves surrounded by". However, while there is despair there is also hope, and this long player is testament to the power of underground music. Arseholes...also demonstrates the importance of collaboration. Bobby Gillespie croons his way through the gentle tones of "People (Ah Yeah)". At the other end of the sonic spectrum, Joe Love and DJ Genesis feature on the gnarly, 303-led grooves of "Love One Self" and "Up Is Down" respectively. Somewhere between these polar opposites sits the evocative Chicago house sound of "Start To Fade" with Josh Caffe and Mutado Pintado's sonorous vocals on the pulsating "The Motion". Paranoid London proves yet again that when confronted by a***holes, music really is the only answer.

Review: The 2024 Ibiza season may seem like it's still a long way off, but not for Get Physical - and seminal label has put together a soundtrack for this year's White Island parties. As its title suggests, Computer Madness' "Traveling To The Planet Rock" is influenced by old school electro - and includes vocodered vocals, a funk bass and wild stabs unravel over rolling 808s. Corbi's "Wave Machine" is also inspired by electro, but on this occasion, acid lines ebb and flow seductively over the undulating groove . OMRI opts for a different approach on "This Is A Test". Based on a low-slung, throbbing bass, its dubby sound effects are nothing short of hypnotic. Trutopia's "Peace" is more sedate, with glacial synths and soulful vocals merged with minimal drums.
