Review: Having headed out to LA a couple of times over the last few years on tour duties, we are always excited to see Albzzy and Iamphantvm join forces, uniting both the British and West Coast bass scenes with incredible results, courtesy of the all powerful Four40. This new collaboration, entitled 'Real Funk', is a subtle womper, driven by it's crunchy drumwork and earwormy bass melodies, perfect for adding a touch of energy to the dance. This release also comes complete with a more tearout style VIP, which again, provides an excellent injection of rhythm and groove to any set listing.
Review: What a terrific bundle we have stumbled across with this one as the About Last Night team gives us this vibrant, bass-driven three-tracker. First off, we take in Albzzy & Digital Koala on 'The Blacklist', a spicy 4x4 design that links together with an array of gnarly bass sounds with serious precision, before 'Dead Air' sees Albzzy step out on his ones for a slightly pacier display of UK bass brilliance. Finally, we move into '108' which sees the likes of Monista & Digital Koala deliver a combination of future bass design and classic drum arrangement, giving this one familiar yet explorative feel to round us off in style.
Review: Eastbourne producer Albzzy has been blazing a trail since arriving as a 16 year old a few short years ago. "Express Hours" is his latest missive, and with its sparse UKF groove and brooding atmospherics is about to get heard big time. There are two remixes included in the package, first up Credential delivers a heavy breath jack attack, before 94 Bliss takes things into an effervescent tropically percussive meltdown.
Review: Albzzy is an 18 year-old bass producer from Eastbourne, who, with only a couple of releases to his name, has already found support from the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra and Low Steppa. "In the AM" is his latest jam and it's only gonna take him further, being a five minute slice of Bashmore-esque house grooves with echoey vocal samples and a persistent bass growl.
Review: U Wot Blud seriously have to be contenders for having the best label name ever. Their music ain't bad either and here they present who they feel are some dead cert "Rising Stars". All elements of bassland are covered over these four tracks, often many in just one song - highlights include the Robin S-getting stretched into linear garage house of Forbid's "Lost", the ADHD wobble attack of Pavv's "Out Here" and the doomy shuffle of "Givin In" by Albzzy.
Review: Bruck out and gwarn bad! Up and coming producer Abzzy has new artillery to test your subwoofer's capabilities. Having released recently on Garage stalwarts Four40 & U Wot Blud, breakbeat innovators Hot Cakes Bass makes an intriguing home for his latest offering. However the new stable makes total sense when you hear the moody low pass filtered amen breaks breakdown on the intro for "The Gyaldem". The drop hits so hard you would think it was intravenously administered, screw face inducing 4x4 Garage. The formula is the same on the flipside "The Hunt" as intermittent bars from vocal talent Patch Edison pepper what is a punishing bassline.
Review: Representing the south coast massive, duo Tengu have been crafting premier league house/garage/bass jams for a few years now. "Dirtyyy" is probably their toughest club banger yet, with swollen bass undulations and tropical rhythms a plenty. Forbid also steps in to add some more rolling housier vibes to the tune before the guys return with Albzzy for a low slung DJ tool, all sparse 4 x 4 drums and haunting synths. Rounding things the pair are joined by Karl Vincent for the hard-hitting "Kaifeng" which shows us just how fun the dark side of speed garage can be.
