Review: Few producers can compete with Mark Broom when it comes to making techno for dark, smoke-filled rooms. On his latest release, the veteran UK producer effortlessly captures this aesthetic. Both "VV2" and "Listen" are driving, linear tracks powered by insistent claps and rolling snares. Meanwhile "Sound System" sees Broom deliver a more abrasive take on this style, with a combination of gated synths and tough kicks. "Pipz" is in a similar vein, with an added layer of militaristic percussion adding to its dance floor appeal. Rounding off the release is "Tool". As its titles suggests, it's a relentless, driving techno track designed to cause maximum impact.

Review: The latest release on Reinier Zonneveld's label is a split EP, with two double acts responsible for separate tracks. Mark Reeve & KLOSET's "Rave Selektor" is true to its name - against a pounding techno rhythm, they drop an ominous, hardcore bass and even a ragga MC sample. In keeping with the Filth on Acid approach, a growling 303 gnaws away in the background. Prolific pair Dok & Martin also embrace the rave sound on "Dimensional". However, on this occasion, a booming bass and pounding kicks provide the basis for disco filters and a soulful vocal sample that is woven through the arrangement.

Review: Alex Caro and Sote de Lino's Eusoh imprint can usually be relied upon to deliver the goods, with their recent EPs from Flaze and Franco Strato delivering nostalgic takes on deep house packed to the rafters with references to US and Italian releases of the early to mid 1990s. They've hit the spot again with this four-tracker from confirmed label hopper Kid Mark. He hits the ground running with 'Your Time', a woozy, groovy and sensually soulful fusion of classic US garage and deep house flavours, before reaching for the pianos, soulful vocal samples and crunchy-but-skipping beats on 'I Got That'. 'Jammin' is a locked-in slab of bumpin, organ-rich brilliance, while 'U Better Tell Me' is a marginally more boisterous affair propelled forwards by restless bass, organ loops and deep-down bass.
