American trance star Shogun has had another stellar year in 2012, both on the release front and with international touring, topped by coming in at an impressive 68 in the DJ Mag poll last month. He nicely wraps up the production year with yet another killer release, this time on Armind and it comes with lots more energy and euphoria then some of his previous. The aptly named 'UFO', thrashes lazer beam melodies light-years into the sky, with each and every layer building upon another with electrifying effect. Underneath the melodies he brings a fresh techy edge which we have rarely seen, which adds even more energy to the delivery. It is no wonder Amrin picked this one out for his flagship!

Review: One of the big success stories from last year was US based producer Shogun, who followed releases on Monster Tunes by joining Armin Van Buuren's empire, and subsequently playing at the recent ASOT milestone event as part of Beyond Wonderland in LA. His production game is what makes him stand above the pack and this latest in Armind is prime example with not one, but two fresh tracks packed full of melodic goodness. Both 'Amplify' and '550' are uplifting, and warm peaktime fillers with the later taking a slightly darker route with its tech-trance influence and minor chord structure.. Trust us, 2012 belongs to this man!!

Review: American producer/DJ Shogun has had a pretty amazing year, rapidly rising from relative newcomer to one of the most promising future heroes. With releases like 'Skyfire' and 'Run To My Rescue' he can now boast a legion of a-list fans such as Armin and Paul Van Dyk supporting everything he does. 'Lotus' is sure to follow suit, and we think one of his finest to date. Blistering uplifting melodies that were destined for the Armind label, with a glorious hooky vocal, and a bonus track in 'Space Odyssey' which is equally as large.

Review: Dream for a "Requiem"? You're in the right place mate. Jinx returns to his new label Straight Up with four more stank attacks. "Dun Know" sets the scene, all loose limbed and bulbous with its tubular bass rolls while "Original" (with Shogun) takes us down a much more tunnelling 97 style route. Elsewhere the title track flexes on a serious elastic vibe with a low swung Moving Fusion feel before Shogun joins the fray once again for the rave-tinged finale. Pitched vocals, rattle breaks and classic detuned synths ahoy, this one's a straight up keeper.
