Review: German dub maestro Goliath is a machine; dishing up collections on a currently weekly basis, his unique version-heavy approach ensures all dub heads are considered across each presentation. Four cuts in total; each one comes in original, dub, riddim and melodica form allowing for some really exciting DJ creativity. Highlights include the stark, swaggering drama and autotune mastery of "Bloody Money", the unbridled positivity and rampant rushes of "Hail Up Jah" and the more sorrowful, meditative vibes of "Kill A Sound". As proved by previous collections, very few artists unite dub heritage with contemporary production techniques as successfully as Don Goliath. Essential.
Review: Goliath's dot-joining "Rootsstep" series continues to pick up momentum. Fusing roots reggae, dub version culture and modern dubstep production techniques, each cut is an instant history lesson and a reminder that dubstep doesn't have to be all bro-ish and screamy. As with previous editions in the series, each track comes with four different presentations, making for some really cool creative DJ play. Highlights include the mournful melodica laments on "Anything Fi Jah" and the subtle way the autotune adds emphasis to the emotions on "Praise Di Fada".
Review: Four tracks, four versions... German reggae singer Don Goliath has unleashed yet another exciting collection of contemporary dub that promises to suit all tastes and provide some great creative potential for DJ creativity. Highlights include the naked bass warbles of "Bun Dem Money", the tripped out subversion of Dawn Penn's "No No No" on "Dem Nah Know Jah" and the epic evangelistic reverberations of "Wadada".
Review: Don Goliath is back with his next chapter of the Rootstep compilations - a project reserved primarily to the ragga-fuelled end of the dubstep circuit, much like the jungle counterparts back in the early '90s. As per usual, it's a weighty sixteen plates of sound, this time featuring the different cuts of "Mi Bredda Dead", "Nah Like Police", "Rock & Come On" and "Sing Unto Jah" - all consisting of dubs, melodicas and instrumental mixes.
