Review: The great Muslimgauze is one of those artists who seem to be unaffected by the passage of time, his endless supply of music making him larger than life and as if he was still alive and kicking. In fact, Bryn Jones died in 1999 but his singular brand of Eastern industrial music keeps being released either as reissues or as unreleased LPs such as this long lost tape. Staalplaat have done a fantastic job in bringing this 45 minute thrashing back to life because it might well be some of Jones' most forward-thinking work. That is not to say that his more known music is any less good, but it's just that this particular release sounds even more contemporary, where bass is mutated and beats are chopped into dubby shots of rhythmic noise. Absolutely essential - album of the week!
