Snarerollswtf - (4:38) 138 BPM
Snarerollswtf Featuring Kick Drum - (4:38) 138 BPM
Review: Snarerollswtf is a fitting title for what is one of this year's most unconventional techno releases. On the title track, veteran Swedish producer Hertz drops a series of snare patterns. Each one more incendiary than the last, they are designed to be used in the mix - and are sure to cause the kind of reaction that the release's name suggests. On the alternate version, "Snarerollswtf Featuring Kick Drum", Hertz shows exactly how dynamic his percussive creations can sound. Pounding kicks of varying intensity levels underpin waves of rolling percussion - making snare-led techno classics like Plastikman's "Spastik" sound civilised by comparison.

Why That
Why That - (4:53) 130 BPM
Minus 132 - (4:58) 132 BPM
Back Then - (4:47) 131 BPM
Review: As ever with the legendary production styles of Jubley, we have learned to expect the unexpected, with this latest helping of juice coming to us courtesy of the ever-ready Fodder imprint. We open up with the eerie synthetics and smart sampling of 'Why That', a vibrant title track that showcases Jubley's underground mastery in a smoothened blaise of electronic structure. Next, 'Minus 132' strips things back further for a slightly more quirky 2-step, before the broken-beat drumlines and unique bass designs of 'Back Then' give us a very tasty finale. Top work from a legend, but we wouldn't expect anything less!

Review: KR celebrates its fifth birthday with this diverse techno compilation. KR050 gets off to a frenetic start with Clotur's "M33, a peak-time track that resonates to building acid and a firing, angular rhythm. Similar energy levels also fuel the grainy techno of Joton's "Cyber Machinery" and Roll Dann's contribution - the chord-heavy banger that is "Suga Nit White". But it's not all peak-time tracks. Benales looks to Detroit for inspiration to deliver the raw minimalism of "Undo", while a more contemporary take on stripped back dance music prevails on the murky "Lost In The Loop" by KUSS. And Metapattern's "25 Min" is a distinctive, ebm-inspired jam.

Take Me Away - (5:41) 135 BPM
The Hedge - (6:07) 126 BPM
Digital Forest - (6:46) 128 BPM
Review: Dukwa follows 2022's Matter Of Time on Peggy Gou's Gudu label with this fine, musical release. "Take Me Away" resounds to metallic snares and a percussive rhythm. Against this backdrop, he weaves in blurry, woozy synths, making for a killer Detroit techno track. On "The Hedge", Dukwa follows a different path. Set to a jacking groove, he factors in jazzy keys and raw electronic riffs that build and drop through the arrangement. "Digital Forest" marks another shift. Like the other tracks, the rhythm is raw, but Dukwa's use of electronic bass and breezy melodies is sure to set it apart.

Review: Cuthead, real name Robert Arnold, hails originally from Moldova but has been based for many years in Dresden, Germany. His musical output has ranged from hip-hop and breaks to disco, house and techno, but this release, the second of our installments that will eventually make up the 'Detour' album, finds him firmly in house mode. While its four tracks are all definitely rooted in deep house, though, they nevertheless also manage to embrace influences from disco, jazz-funk, sci-fi themes and dub - all of which add up to an EP that represents a very worthwhile use of 15 minutes of your life.

It's Haaaat EP - (5:23) 131 BPM
Review: Columbian producer Ciclo returns to Snatch! with three stonking club cuts in a fairly 'traditional' house vein (and that's definitely not a complaint, BTW). Opener 'From The Roots' tops a solid rolling backbeat and M1-ish organ parps with the acapella of Kings Of Tomorrow's 'So Alive' (as also sampled by Kanye West for 'Low Lights'). The slightly pacier 'House Of Gang' is a rollicking little disco-houser with an energy-infusing walking bassline, almost Wild Pitch-y stabs and a full female vocal, while finally 'It's Haaaat' itself is a chunkier affair with a cut-up, Sneak-y kinda feel. Three very solid bullets for your Saturday night disco machine gun!

Deer In The Headlights (radio Slave remix Remaster) - (8:46) 125 BPM
Deer In The Headlights (dub mix Remaster) - (6:09) 125 BPM
Review: Get Physical Music revives its Classics series with a nostalgic trip into its essential archives, kicking off with Chelonis R. Jones' timeless anthem "Deer In The Headlights" originally released back in in 2005 (19 years ago omg!). Remixed by electronic luminaries DJ Hell and Radio Slave, this reissue breathes new life into Jones' haunting masterpiece. The Dub Mix of "Deer In The Headlights" captivates with its moody, low-slung vibe, while DJ Hell's rendition infuses brain-frying synths and sleazy vocals, echoing his electroclash roots. On the flip, Radio Slave's remix delivers unrelenting techno pressure, with insistent synth loops and dark atmospheres. A solid revival here, this reissue not only appeals to new audiences but also reignites the passion of those who experienced these tracks firsthand, reaffirming their timeless appeal.

Review: Volume 7 in the series but for once we can't really say "you should know what to expect by now" because what this compilation really goes to show is just what an eclectic and diverse camp the long-running Manchester label has become, with tracks on 'Paper Cuts #7' ranging from the near-ambient Balearica of Aniso Tropics' opener 'Apricot Memorex' to the self-explanatory synth-y stylings of La Guardia de la Luz's 'Trance Aleman de los 90s' via the uptempo strut of Jahn Solo's 'Disco'. So all we can really do is point you in the direction of some standout cuts, which for this reviewer would include D.S.D's luscious 'Just Can't Stop' and Benny Pitcher's 'Transatlantic Motion', which is like a little musical nod to the days when Paper comps were called 'Splinter'.

Review: Danish producer Mads Dalholt is perhaps best known as one-half of Dalholt & Langkilde, whose 2015 album 'Sur Plus' is regarded as something of a classic in Balearic and downtempo circles. Now he comes with his first solo album and shows that he hasn't lost his touch, as he serves up 12 tracks that are laidback without ever getting boring, and mellow without ever getting overly polite or twee. 'Sitarhara' is a particular highlight to these ears with its hazy, subcontinental feel, while elsewhere 'Gui Tabu' evidences Latin influences and cuts like 'Drummer' and 'Jatak' look to African music for inspiration. It all adds up 1 hour 11 minutes of chilled listening that's well worth investigating even if downtempo vibes aren't usually where you're at.

Private Disco Show (instrumental) - (7:30) 126 BPM
Review: Odessa's "Private Disco Show" on Bordello A Parigi is a shimmering homage to the forgotten gems of the early 80s disco scene. The track channels the spirit of Montreal's Lime (husband-and-wife duo Denis and Denyse LePage) with its gleaming synth lines and infectious energy. With synth line, cascading chords, bright melodies, and heady harmonies, crisp and clean production, "Private Disco Show" is a surefire floorfiller for anyone who appreciates the driving rhythms and playful energy of classic disco.

Review: Following Blckhry's killer EP at the start of the year, Bites continue to serve up with this geometrical masterclass - 'Corners' from one of their most consistent artists, Flatline. Very much of a game of two halves, he kicks off with two solo originals; the sweetly wonky and weird 'Corners' and a the old school inspired grizzliness of 'Evil Form'. Rounding up we have two collabs where Flatline links with Steryx for something deliciously harsh and angular on 'Ready' while 'Feel That' closes on a woozy tip. All 'Corners' covered

Furthermore you have intrepid cuts from Antenna with the some heavy break beats in "Spiral" alongside some warm and classic deep house from SFV Acid in "Urbanfury". Checkout those squat rave beats from Tala Drum Corps' "Gargoyle" - plus that acid - next to compilation closer "De Papaverparade" that brings that Miami Rhodes feeling to the floor with some extra heat - those kicks bro! As a concluding release to what's be a wonderful label we don't wanna say goodbye to - Xoxo, BAKK says, is a mighty thank you to the artists that helped the label find its place in Holland's rich musical heritage.

000 BABY - (6:36) 109 BPM Hot
OOO Baby (Om Unit remix) - (6:14) 135 BPM
Review: Chinese producer Mr Ho impresses muchly with this release on his own Klasse Wrecks label. '000 Baby' in its Original form is a delightfully diverse concoction that blends ethereal synths, a haunting, lilting female vocal, drums that nod to early 90s street soul, Rastaman shouts, a big fat bassline and, as we get into the second half, lots of pleasing acid squelch. As if that wasn't enough Bristol boy Jim Coles, better known as Om Unit, then gives the track a deep drum & bass makeover that's enough to get the hairs on the back of your neck standing up and no mistake, guv'nor. Top drawer bizniss for sure.

Review: Blank Mind Recordings, based in London, has tapped into the significance of a particular strand of jungle and breakbeat hardcore music prevalent during the period of 1991-1994. Their latest compilation showcases eight tracks characterized by dense atmospheric breaks, featuring artists such as DJ Mayhem, Luxury, and Skanna from that era. The standout track, 'Inesse' by Mayhem, serves as the focal point around which the compilation is curated. Against the backdrop of a tumultuous political climate, notably marked by the passage of the stringent anti-rave Criminal Justice Act in 1994, this record and its pulsating compositions take on a renewed significance, reframed within a context of resistance and social justice.

Review: Four typically solid contemporary funk jams here from Sound Exhibitions regular Funk Windows, coming just two weeks after his/her/their last release, the 'Africa Funk' EP. This time out, the Afro stylings are put on a back burner; instead you get the slow-building title cut (which would make a fine set-opener), 'Roller Night' which has a slightly more wonked-out/off-kilter feel, and then 'Bisca' and 'Low Down', both of which up the jazz ante somewhat, the former rocking some fine sax and a cut-up, chipmunk-y vocal while the latter has a similar MO but busts out the flutes. The EP as a whole is a headnodder's delight.

Review: Soul Clap describe their latest offering as "expertly crafted R&B-tinged electronic music for a better tomorrow". A touch hyperbolic, perhaps but a fairly accurate description in many ways. There are four tracks, each of which is presented in full vocal and instrumental variations. The long-serving twosome first join forces with Life on Planets on 'Extravaganza', a percussively rubbery, sub-heavy shuffle topped off with impeccable lead vocals, before opting for a more colourful, synth-laden disco-meets-house flex on Ebony Houston hook-up 'Something in My Heart' (an acapella version of which is tucked away at the end of the EP). Life on Planets return on jungle-tempo breakbeat workout 'Rick Fredkin', before Saucy Lady and Greg Paulus lend a hand on the seductively sleazy and weighty EP highlight 'Keep Reaching'.

Metis X Arp Attack
Metis - (7:06) 125 BPM
Arp Attack - (6:35) 124 BPM
Review: Geordie DJ/producer Port Manteau is an artist on the rise, as his recent releases on the Kitsch label prove. His latest missive from the outlet boasts two tidy tracks. Opener 'Metis' is deliciously dark and throbbing, with tribal house percussion hits, sustained vocals samples, trance-inducing melodic motifs, dark room sonics and fluid keyboard motifs wrapping around a throbbing, pulsating electronic bassline and sweat-soaked beats. It's big and, yes, owes a lot to vintage trance and moody progressive house of the late 1990s (no surprise given that he cites Sasha and Digweed as major inspirations). 'Arp Attack', meanwhile, sees him mine his beloved old ARP synthesisers for inspiration, peppering a locked-in, acid-flecked electronic house beat with all manner of analogue-sounding melodies and counter melodies.

Cappello's signature Subculture sound resonates throughout the album as he navigates through diverse sonic landscapes, captivating listeners with a potent blend of dreamy pads, soulful melodies, and driving beats. Tracks like "Midnight with T" and "Acid Rain" showcase his ability to craft moody yet spacious compositions, while "3am Jamaica Street" and "Moon Jump" build intense atmospheres reminiscent of classic Underground Resistance. Review: Next up on Dubplate Supplier, a solo roll out from Veak, who graces us with a vibrant new original creation by the name 'Systematic', which on first listen already has us excited for the dancefloor damage it is undeniably going to cause. As far as original ideas go, this one takes the cake as a furious combination of sharpened drum processes, blipping arpeggio slides and moody subs all join forces, dancing together around a lethal selection of bass notation. Review: Next up from the team over at Gass Colly Palace, a welcomed appearance from the ever ready Stixy D, who unloads a super catchy 7 track thrill ride. We open up the collection with a silky smooth singalong entitled 'Let Me Down', featuring the angelic vocal displays of Amber Jade, before the 2024 Mix of 'Pattern Party' gives us a more percussive switch up. From here, the nostalgia-inducing chord progressions of 'Play Thing' alongside Meesh.r, the abstract electronic drones of the 'Eardrums' VIP mix and breaksy swipes of 'One Night In Astoria' all give us tasty additions, before moving in a fiery finale. 'Do To Me' is how we close, the more tidy vocal work and sharpened drum processing bringing the project to a well thought out close.

Review: The abstract production mastery of The Widdler has long been seen as a beacon of creativity by the team here at JunoDownload, with this latest offering on Sentry taking things back to the roots. We open up with the droning LFO's and dubwise drum work of 'Running Red', before the more metallic percussive switch ups of 'Zero Days' and silky sub designs of 'Hakkaido' give us an eastern inspired sweeper. From here, the swampy LFO slams of 'South Street' and crunching drumlines of 'Barracks' see us out in style, once again showcasing why The Widdler is held in such high acclaim by so many.

Review: The legendary Jeremy Sylvester is back in fine form with this fiery display, unloading four dancefloor-ready rollers with some real throwback feelings, courtesy of course of Time Is Now. We open up with the nostalgic chord progressions and heavily reverberated soundscapes of '90's Man', which sets the tone perfectly, followed by 'Flashback', a sleeklike roller doused in electronic energy. From here 'In The Morning' arrives to unleash a more subtle bubbling feeling, focussing on moogy basslines and refreshing pad arrangements, before the heavily sampled vocal chops and icey synth sweeps of 'Wickedest Sound' close off the EP with a bang

Review: Legend of the scene Robert Babicz pushes on with his Kelch label, notching up release number 11 which sends in three sublime numbers of dubbed-out, deep, progressive and melancholic magic. Pulling at the heart strings like Moderat used to, "Black Moon" is an awe inspiring number to kick things off. Stripping it back somewhat and working with the reggae vibes for sure is "Dubnosis" with its classic dub groove that underpins ethereal pads and new age vocal effects in the background - deep and contemplative for sure, choice cut! Sending us into the techno stratosphere one more time for this round, Babicz goes deep and squelchy in "Galatic". Deep space 11!

Review: B2 Recordings hits release number 13 with DJ Rocca and Lex combing on a trio of fresh house cuts that blend elements of disco, Latin and soul. Up first is the glorious 'Solid Street' which has loose and percussive disco-house grooves overlaid with big synth energy and steamy vocals. 'Solar System' is slower and deeper, with a more rugged bassline and low slung sense of funk that never lets up. Last of all, 'Rose Tree' is a ramshackle house arrangement with whistles, Rhodes keys, tin-pot percussion, florid flutes and plenty of sunny energy all making it a real standout. A timeless EP packed with musicality.

Review: Honorio first made his name as a drum'n'bass producer, but as Endless Love demonstrates, he is also adept at making dance floor techno. The title track features Theo Nasa's ominous vocals unfolding over robust tribal drums and dynamic percussive twists, making for a moody techno track. "Gunz Blazin" is a house-influenced affair. Led by filtered samples and a rolling groove, it reveals a lighter side to Honorio's sound. On "Stabbed In The Heart", he opts for a deeper approach - focused on tribal drums and spaced-out synths, it's an expertly measured homage to Octave One. The release also features a sleek, steely take of the title track by label owner Len Faki under his Hardspace alias.

Review: Multi-instrumentalist and producer Melchior Sultana has a long track record of delivering musically expansive, exquisitely deep house music. Unusually - at least within dance music culture - he's released more albums than singles, with his love of drawing on a myriad of complimentary influences suiting that format more than the humble 12" single. That's the approach he's taken on Underground, his first solo full-length in two years. It's naturally packed to the rafters with emotive, melodious and - yes - club-ready fare, with highlights including the lavish piano solos and sunset-ready grooves of 'Balearic', the space jazz-goes-deep house wonder of 'Boomin', the sun-splashed joy of 'Driving Force', the early morning deep body music of 'Underground', and the trippy, dubbed-out early morning flex of 'After'.

Review: Born and raised in Cork, Ireland, but now living in London, Tree Threes is a house and broken beat inspired producer taking a lot of reference as he moves forward from fellow Cork natives Fish Go Deep and of course the West London broken beat scene. Here he arrives on Scruniversal with three funked up, sample heavy numbers, taking in phat bass licks, sultry horns and shuffling drums in "Be In Love" - one for that approaching London summer. "Where's The Party" goes a little deeper, bluesy and housey with them chords, while "Too Deep" gets a little bit skippy on the beat, stays subtle on the melody, and keeps it super jazzy without any ragtime. Hotness.

Review: Following a surprise outing with Osunlade on Get Physical Music and a couple of killer self-released singles, Chicago veteran James Curd pops up on Valiant for a three-track collaboration with Winkar. The headline attraction is 'Sexty Lady', an organ-rich slab of loopy, disco-tinged peak-time deep house rich in echoing vocal samples, insanely funky bass guitar and the kind of fizzing synth stabs once a feature of Basement Jaxx's earliest records. It comes in two takes: the EP-leading main mix, which includes an elongated electric piano solo, and a more stripped-backed 'No Solo' version. To complete the package, we're treated to the slightly harder and more energetic disco-house rush of 'My Life Is Oops'.

Lust - (5:13) 144 BPM
Review: Following last year's collaboration with Ash Code, Ellen Allien returns to her own label with a high-octane two tracker. "Rave Luv" does what its title suggests. Over a galloping groove, Allien weaves in jittery synths and screeching Hoover builds. The end result is a brilliant blend of disconcerting electronics and dance floor dynamism. "Lust" is also designed for club use, but it applies a different approach. Slamming kicks are merged with raw electronics, while dreamy synths play out in the background. It has echoes of the short-lived, early 90s techno-trance sound pioneered by Harthouse - but realised through the Bpitch boss' unique lens.

Review: Producer Blair French makes an impressive debut on MotorCity Wine Recordings with his "Ancestarians" EP. The release finds him adeptly bridging the worlds of soulful Detroit deep house and laidback Balearic grooves, carving out a distinct musical identity. The Physical Mix of the title track lays down a midtempo, jazzy groove primed for the dancefloor, infusing pan-African rhythms and a rich interplay of live instruments. In contrast, the Spiritual Mix ventures into more atmospheric, ambient realms, highlighting French's varied musical influences. Kicking off with a vibrant bounce, "Champagne Kiddie Pool" melds bright cavaquinho tones with an infectious dembow-inflected groove, conjuring up a summertime beach vibe. The EP's closing cut "Sandbox Fossils" ratchets up the energy level with its dynamic drum programming, shimmering keys and a standout bassline performance.

Sean Roman - "Cry No More" - (5:56) 126 BPM
Review: Two stalwarts of the Toronto house scene join forces with unsurprisingly classy results. Opener 'The Rain' is a stompy affair defined primarily by its prominent handclaps and gospel-style vocal: it's got energy to spare and if your feet aren't tapping to this, then you might want to double-check that you've actually got any. But it's 'Cry No More' that's the real killer, being a deep, rolling house workout sporting jazzy keys and two separate, sampled vocals: one a timestretched bite from The Supreme Jubilees' 1979 soul jam 'It'll All Be Over', the other male and spoken. Simply listing the elements involved doesn't really convey just what a quality cut this is, though, so check this one for sure!

Here, though, he comes to Spa In Disco's sister label Boite Music with five tracks that fit the imprint's stated musical remit ("the dark side of nu-disco and electronic music, from indie-dance to synthwave") perfectly. 'Figa Spaziale''s long, slow-building intro marks it out as a great set-opener, 'Lasciate Andare' has proggy overtones, while the housier vibe of 'Lento Violente' slowly cedes ground to the more Balearic feel of 'Seduzione' and, in particular, closer 'Trovami Di Nuovo'.

Review: Following up her 2022 Kissing O The Dancefloor release, Berlin-based producer Sarah Wild goes big in Rush - with a hell of a master going down over these tracks too. Opting for a post-warehouse techno sound, her use of Italo-inspired arps, streaking house chords, disco percussion and techno bleeps make for a huge combination in the lead track, "Rush". For her B-side cut she brings in a back-beat with disco fever that's cruisin' the Rimini freeways in a track that feels like a new age ultimo combination of Yello's "The Race" and Kavinsky's Testarossa. Review: Dustin Zahn returns to Blueprint to deliver a four-tracker that resounds to understated force. "Rotator" is an atmospheric, rolling track. Led by dense, tribal drums and featuring mysterious synth lines, it's a subtle but impactful track. "Conduit of Chaos" is based on a similar premise - although on this occasion, the rhythm is more stripped back and is powered by impactful claps. The pulsating, clanging bass at the heart of "Catharsis" lends it the requisite punch for its flowing groove. The title track is the most up-tempo track on the release - and it sees Zahn deliver a gradually building, vocal-sampling percussive sucker punch.

Review: The Exhibit series aims to showcase emerging artists who operate at the raw end of the techno spectrum. While not a new act, label owners Slam get the ball rolling with their own "Exhibit 3", which revisits the raw, jacking sound of their Snapshots release. EJA's "Detachment Theory" represents a more contemporary take on underground techno. Led by a pumping, heads-down groove and relentless, doubled-up claps, it also features mysterious synth builds. Similarly atmospheric sounds inhabit Skjöld's "Stearic Acid" - but on this occasion, they are woven into a stripped back, percussive groove. Favouring a more abrasive direction, ANNĒ's "Keinlicht" revolves around a visceral rhythm and ominous synth lines, echoing vintage Steve Bicknell.

Review: Few producers can compete with Mark Broom when it comes to making techno for dark, smoke-filled rooms. On his latest release, the veteran UK producer effortlessly captures this aesthetic. Both "VV2" and "Listen" are driving, linear tracks powered by insistent claps and rolling snares. Meanwhile "Sound System" sees Broom deliver a more abrasive take on this style, with a combination of gated synths and tough kicks. "Pipz" is in a similar vein, with an added layer of militaristic percussion adding to its dance floor appeal. Rounding off the release is "Tool". As its titles suggests, it's a relentless, driving techno track designed to cause maximum impact.

"First Day of Life" is a Purposemaker-style dense groove, replete with insistent stabs and vocal snatches. Clocking in at the 140bpm mark, it gets the release off to a frenetic - but funky - start. "New Set Up" resounds to a similar tempo, but on this occasion, atmospheric synths lend the arrangement a deeper edge. In contrast, "Plague" is all about its bruising drums, utilitarian claps and a pounding rhythm. Returning to Millsian influences again, Dynamic Forces drops "Tango". This time, the focus is on a white-knuckle ride through grainy, relentless minimalism.

Lush pads wash over a downtempo groove, while Eusebeia's vocals shimmer with a touch of longing. Then it is "peace of Mind," offering a sense of resolution, with a gentle melody and ethereal vocals. However, a subtle tension lingers, suggesting that inner peace may be a fleeting state. Rounding out the EP is "Cloud Nine," a blissful soundscape that brings the release to a peaceful close. This sequel repeats the formula, delivering five more fresh revisions of Luv Shack classics. Polish cosmic disco superhero Das Komplex steps up first with a typically trippy, dubbed-flecked nu-disco take on Jakobin's 'See Me Through', before Rosa Red reaches for psychedelic TB-303 lines and hot-stepping beats on a pitched-up revision of 'If You' by Ken Hayakawa and Lee Stevens. The latter's LeSale hook-up 'LuvSick' is then re-imagined as a dark Italo throbber by Tomasz Guiddo. Review: To date, Iron Curtis and Frank Music founder Johannes Albert have released a trio of "lunar-inspired" albums (the 'Moon' trilogy). This EP presents supposedly 'lost' - but genuinely unheard - remixes of tracks featured across the trilogy. To kick things off, Llewellyn wraps Lisa Toh's dreamy vocals and even dreamier chords around punchy beats and a dirty Italo-disco style bassline on a fine revision of 'Nektar'. Levitation Venue steps up next with a deep, dubby and shuffling deep house take on 'Erde', before Black Spuma (AKA scene stalwarts Fabrizio Mammarella and Phillip Lauer) inject 'Industrie & Zartlicheit' with a touch of analogue synthesis and sun-splashed nu-disco colour. Arguably best of all, though, is LeRosa's raw and mind-mangling revision of 'Appeal', with dark new wave synths and pots-and-pans percussion catch the ear.

Review: After dashing between labels at a furious rate over the last few years - most recently Chippy Chasers, Highway Stories and Star Blazers - Tommaso Pizzelli lands on GLBDOM with an EP inspired by "old school Italian hip-hop". This is not hip-hop in the purest sense, of course, but rather an attempt by the Amsterdam-based Italian to join the dots between the breakbeat-driven, scratch-sporting funk of late '80s dancefloor hip-hop and contemporary house flavours. This approach is best exemplified by the ghostly textures, twinkling melodic motifs, on-point scratches and two-step influenced breaks of '60Hz (Original Mix)', which is later given a 4/4, tech-tinged house makeover by Lemonphase. Squeezed in between you'll find the tactile deep house bounce of rap-sampling roller 'Get Deep', and the warm two-step shuffle of 'Emotional Damage'.

Review: Japanese producer Yuki Kanesaka, mastermind behind the monolog project, serves up a delightful take on Herbie Hancock's iconic Watermelon Man with this uptempo cover on Dippin' Records. Kanesaka kicks things off with a nod to the past, faithfully reproducing the iconic opening Hindewhu whistle hoot that graced the Headhunters' version. This playful detail sets the tone for a joyous journey that retains the "mathematical balance" of Hancock's original while packing a punchier, club-ready groove. "Bill's Valence Street Jam," offers a special drum break version of the main track. It's a perfect opportunity to truly savor the infectious groove and appreciate Summers' masterful percussive artistry. Review: Stepping onto the dance floor with confidence, the collaborative effort between techno veteran Sakro and Chicago's Max Jacobson, "Walking Into Mirrors EP," delivers a potent dose of driving rhythms and hypnotic soundscapes on Rawax. The title track opens the EP, establishing a deep, pulsating groove that locks you in from the start. Layers of synths unfold with a touch of mystery, building tension and anticipation throughout its near seven-minute runtime. This is a track built for late-night warehouses, expertly crafted for maximum impact on sound systems. "Planet Arium" takes a slightly different path, offering a more stripped-down, almost industrial feel. The rhythmic core remains relentless, but the focus here shifts to a hypnotic melody that snakes its way through the soundscape. It's a darker, more atmospheric journey, perfect for heads-down dancing. The EP closes with "Chapter 16 Remember To Go Home," a track that injects a touch of hopeful euphoria into the mix. Soaring synths and a more playful melody offer a sense of light at the end of the tunnel, a reminder of the joy of dance music even after a deep dive into techno's darker corners.
