Review: Party jam master QDUP chooses quality over quantity with his releases, everytime. Now, Jerome Joyce is a busy man - an MC who divides his time between Detroit and LA. Somehow though, the deft QDUP has managed to catch him, possibly somewhere in the middle, maybe on a flight stop-off in Kansas or somewhere, it don't matter because the important thing is that they've managed to record "Get Up". This tune is a classic slice of 80s style go-go beats, squelchy bass, quirky sounds and Bootsy-style rappin'. Also featured are cool instrumental and dub incarnations for you serious DJ mixers out there.
Review: Often in dance music it can take real guts to slow things down. However can really be worth the risk if done right, and that's just what Rucci & Fedeli have done. "Get Up" is nearly five minutes of deep, slow-building cosmic grooves that is to take its time to work a dancefloor. The "Happy Edit" is trippy too but added vocals chants and vibes for extra measure.
Review: Just like his toastie namesake, Aussie disco-guy, Brevil, is hard on the outside and soft on the inside. "Get Up" is all about the tough house beats on the outside but inside is some choice emotional disco samples. Like the sandwich, these three tunes are also scalding - the title track is all sharp funk licks and loopy bass and searing orchestration, "Cheaters Groove" is dark, sweaty tech-funk and "Looking Good In LA" is soulful electro-house at its weirdest, which is no bad thing.
