Review: Steve Lawlor's Viva Limited dropped the first Club Cuts compilation about a year ago, making quite an impression with its 12-sizzling house and techno jams. Here's a teaser for the follow-up and the line-up seems real strong. First up label fave Claire Ripley looks to early Chicago for the pumpin' "Jackanory", the mighty David Keno hooks up with Dalson for the bouncy tech-house "Honey Boo Boo", a track that benefits from the retro synths stabs and soulful vocal snippets. Lastly Sydney Blu closes with the stomping "Momento" a big room banger if ever there was one.
Review: Next up on British deep house imprint Food Music is Berlin scene stalwart David Keno with more quality grooves that you have come to expect from the man. Following on in the same style of grooves displayed for the likes of Mother, Katermukke and This Ain't Bristol, Keno throws down some bass heavy dancefloor weapons on his latest offering. From the swing-fuelled boompty house shenanigans of "Revolve" right through to the funked-up and tough rolling dancefloor assault of "Pick It Up" - these ones will rock any club from London to Berlin and beyond. On remix duties are rising Amsterdam duo ANOTR with an extended remix that ventures down deeper and more hypnotic territory.
Review: Berlin-based Swiss producer David Keno is a veteran DJ, with tracks on heavyweight labels such as Relief, Toolroom, Suara and Noir. Aside from getting props on an international level, he also launched his successful Keno Records imprint in 2007 which has since seen over fifty releases. His new release on Jamie Jone's Hottrax features the jacking, swing-fuelled main room bounce of "WTF", while "Faceblind" gets on a Tronik House vibe of old, complete with hoover bassline - this one was absolutely sick!
Review: Berlin tech house hero David Keno returns for local imprint Mother Recordings, who have brought us some great releases of late by the likes of Mat.Joe, Superlover and Kevin Knapp. Here are two finely tuned grooves on the Youth EP. Starting off with the funky and lo-slung house groove of "Play" which is perfect to the set the crowd off just before the peak time at Kater Holzig or Ritter Butzke. Next up is of course the woozy and rolling tech house of the title track, with its throbbing basslineheadrush, druggy vocals and hypnotic synth stabs; it ticks all the right boxes if you ask us and is just perfect to mess with minds at the afterhour shift!
