Review: Electronic music superstar Anyma (aka one half of Tale Of Us) unveils his highly anticipated sophomore album, Genesys Part II - which follows the success of his debut, Afterlife LP. Showcases Anyma's evolution as a melodic techno producer, the album features 21 tracks split into two distinct components. The first section chalks up a chunk of original compositions, including standout singles like "Pictures of You" and "Higher Power," along with collaborations with Chris Avantgarde, PARISI, Rebūke, and more. The second segment offers reimagined versions of tracks from both Genesys albums, featuring notable remixes by Eric Prydz, Adriatique, and Cassian. With its diverse range of sounds and collaborations, an impresisve and fully comprehensive second edition promises to be a pivotal moment in Anyma's career, dropping amidst the excitement of Miami Music Week 2024.

Review: Buckle up, because Particle is taking us on one wild ride with his latest album "Pyro" on Critical Music. This 10-track juggernaut is a full-throttle excursion through the gnarliest terrain of jungle and drum & bass. Right from the jump on the opening cut, Particle flexes his funky bassline muscles to get things properly greased up. But don't get too comfortable - by the closing VIP remix he's dropped the hammer and has the whole thing redlining in the most deliriously unhinged way. This is an artist operating at the peak of his powers, seamlessly blending classic jungle/D&B fundamentals with meticulously futuristic production chops. There's something for the old-school heads and fresh recruits alike on this album. Longtime jungalists will get misty-eyed over the cavernous subs and proving garage-bred breaks of tracks like "Fooling." But Particle also caters to the new-age barneys on tunes such as "Assassin" and "Needles" complete with enough manic robotic contortions to have you rapidly evacuating your flesh vessel. Not one to rest on his laurels, Particle keeps things utterly weird too. "REM" is a deliciously unhinged descent into stuttering jungle psychedelia. And his link-up with Inja on "The Message" injects a taut, nerve-shredding atmospherics that'll have you sweating through three layers of merino wool. Don't sleep on this one, ravers.

Review: Oh gosh! Every Welcome To The Jungle collection is a big deal but this latest edition from Euphonique and Dazee is a whole other rain forest. 96 tracks and a mix that weighs in over two hours, this is the sound of two of the most foremost and inspiring Bristol-based DJs going IN in every single direction. Loaded with a great range of classics, exclusives and left-of-centre vibes, highlights across this massive collection include Aries and Euphonique's massive 'Amen', Dazee & Jinx's 'Shake It Up', Sweetpea and Chickaboo's 'The Jump Off' and the recent skat-dancing fire-up 'Skip De Du Dat'. And that's not scratching the surface. This is an epic collection. Essential.

Review: Super prolific Sevin returns to Fokuz with more woozy soul workouts. At points laid back and hazy, at others absolutely off the wall, once again he's baked a collection of back pocket essentials to throw out and surprise your dancefloor. Highlights include the grizzly subtle wonk on 'You Something', the total and utter lunacy (and precision satire) of 'Generic', the sexy saxy Random Movement flavoured jazz fest 'Rainy Days' and the wonderfully slinky, springy finale 'Boomerang'. Rated.

Review: Bondax's "Journey" on Future Disco isn't just an album title, it's an experience. This LP marks a decade in the game for the UK dance duo, and "Journey" reflects that beautifully. It's a blend of their signature sounds with fresh influences, all wrapped in a future-disco sheen. The album kicks off with the previously-released banger "Don't Want It," setting the pace with driving rhythms and those classic Bondax synths. Tracks like "I Only Have You" showcase their versatility, featuring smooth vocals from Eno Williams that blend seamlessly with their sonic palette. A true highlight is "Fade" featuring SHELLS. Flanging guitars and entrancing beats create a mesmerizing soundscape, perfectly embodying the album's exploration of diverse sounds. "Yabaal to London" is another winner, a funky fusion of 80s disco and modern production with the Dur-Dur Band. It's impossible not to move to this one. It's a genre-bending album that pays homage to disco's roots while offering a fresh, modern take. Packed with infectious beats, captivating vocals, and stellar production, this album is a guaranteed dance floor filler and a must-listen for fans of electronic music with a touch of nostalgia.

Review: The future of Argy has arrived in the Afterlife. With a strong connection to the platform of late with albums and releases like Tataki, Pantheon and Aria next to the collaborative gem Higher Power - Argy has officially arrived. With this album in particular pitched as the artist's magnum opus, New World proves to be a fusion of human emotion inter-mixed with and AI innovation. Going large for those Afterlife sets no doubt, a techno futuristic and modern melodic Argy sends in 14 large scale tracks for the stadium space - ie "No One's Coming" and "Higher Power" - to the bad ass vampire acid in "Wilderness" or Juan Atkins Cyberton reflections in Tibet - Rad!

Review: Over the last few years, Martin 'Atjazz' Iveson has spent a fair amount of time mentoring Peacey, a young producer with oodles of talent. That much is proved by the rising star's expansive debut album, a superb 16-track set that combines sizzling colo cuts with a string of inspired collaborations. The Edinburgh-based artist sets his stall out via the luscious horn arrangements and immersive ambient electronics of 'Play It By Ear', before drifting between head-nodding R&B loveliness (Oveous hook-up 'Love In The Forest'), sensual and seductive, soul-flecked deep house ('Hold Me Back' with Clyde and Atjazz), mid-tempo boogie-soul ('Playground' with Rona Ray), dubby and dreamy downtempo grooves ('Last Night's Dream'), deep and techy, spoken word-sporting dancefloor workouts ('Culture Bandit' with Vanessa Hidary) and jazz-funk influenced excellence (LaRoye collab 'In The Distance').

Review: Monty Luke's Nightdubbing project on Rekids was designed to showcase the Black Catalogue boss's deep love of dub-infused house and techno. This 13-track album combines previously unheard cuts with nine tracks previously showcased across a pair of EPs of the same name. It's a fantastic set all told, with highlights including the smacked-out electro-dub headiness of opener '40 Acres and a Terrabyte', the extra-percussive deep dub-house hypnotism of 'Bob Molly', the after-hours friendly minimalism of 'Star Storms', the Detroit-goes-dub techno pulse of 'New World/Old Future', the classic dub techno warmth of 'Dark Paradise', and the dub-wise deep house dreaminess of 'Avantgarde Dancehall'. Throw in a handful of tidy ambient and digital dub tracks, and you have a genuinely superb long-player.

Review: Shim Shimah who got the keys to the beemer? Probably Shimah himself judging by the state of these purring futuristic grooves. Taking us right into a new dimension with his debut album, Shimah shows us how far he's come since his early moves on Playaz around 10 years ago. Flexing a vibe that one part sci-fi, two parts heavyweight and fully unique, Shimah's sound hits with that cosmic vibe that could fit between myriad of D&B subgenres with ease and style. Highlights include the album's twinkling title track, the heavy emotion and autonomic style halftime intro on 'Levitation' and rich trance elements of 'Disintegrate'. Stunning.

Review: Kasra, the head honcho of Critical Music, kicks off the label's 2024 releases with "Dream Metal," an 8-track exploration of deep, atmospheric drum & bass. Kasra brings together a diverse cast of vocalists and producers, each adding their unique flavour. From the haunting vocals of Slay on "City Of Rain" to the infectious energy of Killa P on "Running Red," the collaborations keep things fresh and exciting. The album goes from atmospheric opener with its ethereal vocals and pulsating bassline with "Spaceman", a more dancefloor-oriented track, with infectious energy and a killer vocal performance with "Talk Up" to take a turn with "Shatter," a darker and heavier layering intricate sounds and textures. "Dream Metal" lives up to its name, weaving a soundscape that's heavy on atmosphere and introspective vibes. Deep basslines pulsate, intricate drum patterns weave through, and haunting melodies drift in and out.

Review: Kieran Hebden, better known by his moniker Four Tet, has graced us with his first full-length album in nearly three years. "Three," released on his own Text Records imprint, is a meticulously crafted exploration of sound, weaving together elements of electronica, downtempo, and folktronica influences. The album strikes a balance between organic and electronic textures. Tracks like "Loved" showcase Hebden's signature ability to manipulate found sounds and samples, creating a shimmering sonic tapestry. "Gliding Through Everything" leans more towards the downtempo side, with its gentle piano chords and woozy atmosphere. However, Four Tet doesn't shy away from exploring the electronic realm. Tracks like "Daydream Repeat" feature driving uptempo rhythms intertwined with ethereal piano melodies, showcasing his talent for building tension and release. "Storm Crystals" injects a dose of ambient energy, while "Skater" leans into playful, almost chiptune-like melodies. The closing track, "Three Drums" (another pre-release single), brings back the energy with its pulsating bassline and infectious groove. Not to miss!

Review: Dombrance has spent the last few years making music inspired by imaginary French politicians of the 1960s, '70s and '80s. To round of the project, he's pitched up on Discolypso to share the final two tracks - and a wealth of remixes. 'Bayou' is a certified throb-job in which alien-sounding synths and heady vocalisations rise above a pulsating, Italo-disco groove, while 'Cope' is a darker, techno-tempo workout rich in analogue electronics and driving grooves. There are too many remixes to mention them all, but our picks include Lindstrom's breezy, electrofunk-influenced Norse disco take on 'Bayou', Baldelli and Dionigi's hybrid dub disco/Afro-cosmic take on the same track and Francois K's suspenseful, stretched-out, slow-build revision of 'Cope'. Throw in a deliciously druggy, Italo-disco-goes-rave revision of the same cut by Diskjokke, and you have a genhinely brilliant package.

Review: What a stomper of a collection we have here as we see a truly marvellous link up between Run In The Jungle, D*Minds & T>I, who join forces for a powerhouse display across this 16 track masterclass. From the outright raucous bass curls and vocal chops of 'Riko's Revenge' to the more nostalgic horn work of 'Selecta' and haunted synthetic stabs of 'Horrid', we can see this link up has birthed a wide ranging set of styles, ready and waiting to launch any dancefloor into an absolute frenzy. Our standout features across this sonic arsenal include the gut-wrenching bass twists of 'Insane', the unpredictable synth sizzles of 'Kill Sound' and of course 'Ride Or Die', a new school jungle epic that explores a fiery fusion of vocal chops and breaksy slices. Top work from all involved

On 'Something Like That', Jalapeno bosses Skeewiff celebrate 25 years in the game by paying tribute to some of the music that's inspired them, delivering generally very faithful but also very accomplished reworks of classic tracks by artists ranging from The Winstons and Jimmy Smith to Dick Dale and Herb Alpert. New additions to the roster on this final version include Nancy Sinatra's 'These Boots Are Made For Walking', Muppets 'Mah Na Mah Na', Mel Tormé's Mod club standard 'Coming Home Baby' and, just to prove they're not taking themselves TOO seriously, Boots Randolph's 'Yakety Sax' - better known to most as the 'Benny Hill' theme.

Review: Hanging, banging, mad and outstanding... Chimpo continues flex his lyrical and musical dexterity with his awesome new album Don't Worry About It. Featuring a whole raft of mates and peers such as Skittles, Salo, Slay, Darkside Mo, IBeKay, Ellen Beth Abdi and Kid Katharsis, the album charges into the heart of vocal-led jungle D&B with strong shades of soul, R&B and hip-hop as Chimpo guides us through many double standards, nuances and ironies of modern life. One for the hippies, nerds, hustlers and indeed thugs, each track is a veritable highlight and resonates to a different corner of the dance from the lurking skankers on 'Darkside' to heart-eyed romantics on 'Crystal Clear'. Exceptional songwriting and D&B sonics, no one does it like Chimpo.

Review: Next up on Binary Cells is Klint with this hard-hitting release. The pounding, industrial rhythm of "Atlas" gets Son Heros off to an intense start. There is no let-up on "Mental 89", where Klint drops a dense, banging track. While the title track integrates trancey riffs with robust tribal drums, it is still primed for the dance floor. On "Supervision", Klint continues this approach as a surging bass ripples its way through a looped groove. There are some exceptions to the prevailing intensity: "Requiem RK" is a heads-down ebm workout, while "Cinq Sections" is a dub-influenced track, but one that still packs quite a punch.

Review: It's clear to all who follow electronic music with any level of regularity that Om Unit has become one of the most consistently impressive names to follow, with the last decade of work showcasing creativity and sonic innovation with every new outing. This latest 'Fragments' album project sees those talents again at work, from the moogy bass flicks on 'Snagged' to the icey soundscaping of 'Entity' and super sharp drum processing of 'Side Quest'. This album showcases mastery at work, with Om Unit again proving to be a level above those around him, with highlights including the colourful melodic squelches of 'Moonglade' and breaks-inspired energy-boosting qualities of 'Hard Skin'. On 'Be Here Before', he joins forces with Bastard Jazz regulars Bad Colours to deliver a fabulous full-length excursion. They set the tone with 'Say Yea', a constantly rising slab of soul-fired deep tech-house, before flitting between intergalactic house-soul ('Mars'), 21st century hip-house/nu-disco fusion (the ace 'What Happened To The Revolutionary'), UKG-influenced excellence ('Jeans'), Afrobeats-adjacent awesomeness ('Might Could'), slow motion boogie-soul ('Mt Miss U') and much more besides. Review: Joseph Price has been serving up solid (and sometimes sensational) fare as Third Son for the best part of a decade, showcasing his wares on labels including Cajual Records, Unknown To The Unknown, Stil Vor Talent and 17 Steps. Here Price makes his belated bow on Lost Palms via a mini-album containing eight tried-and-tested treats. Check first the sparkling, melody rich title track 'If You Remember The 90s You Weren't There', a bouncy fusion of vintage progressive house cheeriness, sun-splashed deep house and nods to the classier end of mid-90s trance, before admiring the joyous melodic techno of 'Wisdom of the Crowd' and the warehouse-ready headiness of 'Posing For Pictures When It's a Video'. We also recommend the 'Erotic Discourse'-esque wonkiness of 'Descartes Before The Horse'.

Review: Officially one of the most prolific and hardest working men in drum & bass, Dope Ammo looks back over his immense vaults of bangers, picks his favourites and commissions a whole stack of remixes from some of the best in the game. Ed Solo, Sub Zero, Bladerunner, Nick Blackmarket, Audiomisison, Kleu and DA himself are just some of the remixers getting stuck in here as Dope Ammo's many euphoric, emotionally charged cuts get reconstructed with pure balls of fire. The result is a timeless collection of dancefloor weapons that cross all subgenre boundaries. Guaranteed to light up any floor, Dope Ammo's firing all the shots right here.

Review: New Zealand headliner D&B duo Lee Mvtthews deliver their debut album and it's a vibrant, technicolour trip around the entire 174 universe. Setting the scene with the full-on techy tear-up 'Ripple', the pair proceed to explore every dancefloor nook and cranny right the way through to the dreamy swirl and swoon of the finale track 'Feel It'. From the late 2000s flavoured electroid warps and bends of 'Lightspeed' to surging poppy kicks of 'Far Gone', no stone is unturned as they link with the likes of Tikki Taane, Degs, Rachel Leo and many others to create a winning debut LP. A crucial landmark release for both Lee Mvtthews and New Zealand drum & bass.

Review: Next up from the team over at Gass Colly Palace, a welcomed appearance from the ever ready Stixy D, who unloads a super catchy 7 track thrill ride. We open up the collection with a silky smooth singalong entitled 'Let Me Down', featuring the angelic vocal displays of Amber Jade, before the 2024 Mix of 'Pattern Party' gives us a more percussive switch up. From here, the nostalgia-inducing chord progressions of 'Play Thing' alongside Meesh.r, the abstract electronic drones of the 'Eardrums' VIP mix and breaksy swipes of 'One Night In Astoria' all give us tasty additions, before moving in a fiery finale. 'Do To Me' is how we close, the more tidy vocal work and sharpened drum processing bringing the project to a well thought out close.

Review: Acid house in sound but punk in nature, the title of Paranoid London's new album is a reference to "the cavalcade of c***s we find ourselves surrounded by". However, while there is despair there is also hope, and this long player is testament to the power of underground music. Arseholes...also demonstrates the importance of collaboration. Bobby Gillespie croons his way through the gentle tones of "People (Ah Yeah)". At the other end of the sonic spectrum, Joe Love and DJ Genesis feature on the gnarly, 303-led grooves of "Love One Self" and "Up Is Down" respectively. Somewhere between these polar opposites sits the evocative Chicago house sound of "Start To Fade" with Josh Caffe and Mutado Pintado's sonorous vocals on the pulsating "The Motion". Paranoid London proves yet again that when confronted by a***holes, music really is the only answer.

Review: Len Faki's "Fusion Remixes 01/03" on Figure delves into the acclaimed album "Fusion," reimagining its diverse tracks through the lens of renowned techno artists. This release presents a fascinating exploration, showcasing contrasting interpretations and highlighting the versatility of Faki's original work. While remaining rooted in techno, the remixes delve into various subgenres, showcasing the versatility of the original tracks and the talent of the remixers. From the stripped-back industrial of O [Phase]'s "Temple" remix to the euphoric trance influences in Planetary Assault Systems' take on "Yantra," each track offers a unique perspective. Each remixer brings their own magic. rRoxymore's "Tor 8" remix pulsates with dark energy, while Djrum's "Don't Be Stupid Day" is a distorted, raw dancefloor weapon. Pangaea's "Space Cowboys I" remix adds a touch of light and groove, making it an infectious earworm.

Review: This 2024 reissue of an all time and much love classic Raumgleiter by Der Dritte Raum presents an exceptional concept trance album that remains ahead of its time, defying the stigma once and sometimes attached to the genre. Highlighting tracks like "Hale Bopp" and "Polarstern," which made waves in big rooms at the time, the real gem lies in "Lava," transitioning seamlessly from acid builds to progressive trance, which then leads perfectly into "Hale Bopp." Der Dritte Raum's hypnotic beats and catchy melodies went far to transport listeners to other dimensions back in the day, and a fresh 2024 re-up does the same thing- groundbreaking stuff for trance enthusiasts.

Review: Murder He Wrote straight out of Manchester brings a second version to his self titled 'Murder He Wrote' collection of tracks and bangers. Where the first compilation took in some production highlights that dated back to 2016, part two brims with two brand spanking new originals in "Tweet" and "Frozen", while the six others have all been lifted from the guy's massive Roska Kicks & Snares back cat. It provides a step back from the vocal heavy tunes from the producer of late, with the MHW returning to his roots in sub-bass, drums and percussion fully designed for the club.

Review: Despite the title there's no particular discernible 'summer' theme to this latest batch of re-edits from German maestro Alkalino, but that's probably just as well - after all, no one wants to hear 4/4'd up remakes of holiday 'classics' like 'The Birdy Song' or 'Agadoo', do they?! Instead the Audaz boss serves up another typically classy bunch of reworkings, drawing on sources that include Change ft Jocelyn Brown's 'Angel In My Pocket' ('I Remember All So Clearly'), Lenny Williams' 'Midnight Girl' ('The Music Plays And Plays'), Central Line's 'Walking Into Sunshine' ('I Got To Get Away') and Talking Heads' 'Seen And Not Seen' ('A Larger Forehead'), to name but a few.

Review: Seven years after Bitter Music, Perc returns with his fourth studio album. The Cut Off is bookended with the gentle ambience of "Can You Imagine" and the droning "Calcify"- and includes other divergences like the jittery electronic soundtrack on "Heartbeat Popper". "Milk Snatchers Return" also presents another unexpected turn as Perc fuses atmospheric synths with dense tribal drums. But his focus soon turns to this signature sound. The sharp percussive shapes of "Static", which features Sissel Wincent on vocals, is an industrial techno anthem in waiting. And the intense acid of "Cold Snap" and the pounding kicks and heads-down rhythm on "Full Goblin" are reminders that few producers do forward-looking, impactful techno as well as Perc.

Review: Rayko teams up once more with Elena Hikari to deliver the pair's second joint long-player, following on the heels of 2023's 'Tu Alma Y La Mia'. But while that first album was good, this one's exceptional! Cinematic, cosmic opener 'Too Much' sets the tone but it's the second track, 'Nunca James', that really hits you in the face: it's a slow-burning monster, with Hikari's haunting vocal earning it a place in the box marked "truly sublime". 'Looking To Edge' is another BIG track that probably needs to be heard on a 4am dancefloor to be truly appreciated; after that you get four more cuts that blur the lines between cosmic/Italo disco, Balearica, coldwave, house and pop (including a new version of 'Extraordinarylove' from the first album) before the title track, another deep, slo-mo chugger, plays us out in very fine style. Excellent work!

Review: Danish producer Mads Dalholt is perhaps best known as one-half of Dalholt & Langkilde, whose 2015 album 'Sur Plus' is regarded as something of a classic in Balearic and downtempo circles. Now he comes with his first solo album and shows that he hasn't lost his touch, as he serves up 12 tracks that are laidback without ever getting boring, and mellow without ever getting overly polite or twee. 'Sitarhara' is a particular highlight to these ears with its hazy, subcontinental feel, while elsewhere 'Gui Tabu' evidences Latin influences and cuts like 'Drummer' and 'Jatak' look to African music for inspiration. It all adds up 1 hour 11 minutes of chilled listening that's well worth investigating even if downtempo vibes aren't usually where you're at.

Review: Oli Lazarus's Reel People Music drop the first volume in a new compilation series that will see the keys to the label's vaults handed over to a number of different remixers, with the intention of breathing new live into tracks that in some cases are nearly 20 years old. The man in the hot seat for this first installment is broken beat originator and Bugz co-founder Kaidi Tatham, who takes on tracks from/featuring the likes of Mica Paris, Atjazz, Sean Escoffery,Sebb Junior, Daz-I-Kue and of course Reel People themselves. Given the source material, it's no surprise that "smooth and soulful" is the mood du jour, generally: the beats never get TOO broken and self-indulgent jazzbo flourishes are kept to a minimum. File under 'baby-making music'.
