Review: It's been two years since occasional Corresondant [sic] contributor Paresse made his bow on Magic Feet Recordings. Back then, he was allowed two tracks on a split 12"; here, label boss Craig Bratley has given him a whole EP on which to showcase his wares. He duly delivers, giddily charging between the throbbing, late night house psychedelia of "Let Me Out of This Studio" and the fuzzy, intoxicating electronic chug of "Hypno Hips". Paresse switches to gentle Balearic disco mode for the dreamy and glistening brilliance of "The Flaneur", where eyes-closed guitar motifs glint in the afternoon sunshine, before showcasing his grasp of mood and melody on the melancholic synth-pop bliss of the heart-aching "Zen Fishing".

Review: Hemlock founder Untold is back on the label with his first release since "Doff" on sub-label HBLK back in 2015. This release follows appearances on last year's #savefabric compilation, and more recently on Magic City III compiled by Mixpak boss Jubilee. HEK029 follows a rewarding period of A&R for Hemlock, that has so far delivered EPs from locals Bruce and Parris, with several more scheduled to drop throughout 2017. This EP's two winding tracks are a natural progression from the fiercely textural drum work of Untold's previous singles and the album Black Light Spiral. Here the material is given more space to breathe and released from the grid, creating a lighter more footloose feel. "Tear Up the Club" carries the weight of DMZ era half-step, using a loose web of elasticated breaks and builds to reveal a striking melodic line. On "Watton Res" exotic tones are further compressed and expanded in sequence, encasing drum machine, keyboards and guitar work within a delicate shell.

Review: Something tells us that this compilation isn't about smoking mere tobacco. Perhaps it's the green-eyed bad boy on the cover brandishing a suspiciously plump 'roll up'. Or maybe it's simply because of the hazy, lazy and groovy 70s vibes contained within. Robsoul Essential has managed to overcome the munchies, get off the couch and actually find nine expert reworks of old disco joints. Highlights include the bleary eyed, organic hip-hop beats of "This Is What It Is" by Homequest, the deep, heady loops of "Six Flags" by Chris Carrier and the bonged-out neo-soul of "Mondae".

Review: From curating their own label to touring the globe, German duo Andhim have been lighting up dancefloors with their eclectic and charming take on electronic music The pair now release Donner EP, their latest outing on Superfriends. It hits first and fuses soft ambient textures with intoxicating low-end arrangements with dynamic percussion. Each finely tuned element of the track slowly melds together, building into a synth-heavy arrangement that shimmers and is sure to ignite any space its played in. Concluding EP is "Ebertplatz", which perfectly showcases the duo's penchant for forward thinking house. This marks the Cologne pair's ever rising ascent as one of the bestloved names at the top of the international electronic music circuit.

Review: In some ways, this latest EP from Mexican slo-mo merchant Joseph Terruel is a bit of a curio. It's made up of two interlude style beat workouts - the blazed, near horizontal head-nodder "Listen" and Dilla-inspired "Notice" - and a pair of Terruel reworks of other people's music. Naturally, it's these that stand out. He raises the tempo to a dizzying 109 BPM to unfurl a hypnotic, chugging remix of Juan MP's "Dangerous City" - think looped bass, unfussy beats, fizzing funk Clavinets and eight-bit bleeps - before reaching for the scalpel in order to re-edit Paraiso's "Wildest Cream". This latter concoction, a bass-heavy fusion of slo-mo house hypnotism and seductive, Barry White style bedroom disco, is easily the EP's most impressive moment.

Review: Sourced from the vaults of Developer's studio, Archive 10 is a heady, hypnotic collection of dance floor techno. It starts with "Dream Awake", where vocal samples are looped over a dense, drum-led groove. On "Raw Gram", a more visceral approach applies as gated synths unravel to the sound of brassy blasts and jagged percussive bursts. Meanwhile, "Te Vale Made" sees Developer opt for a surprisingly deeper approach, as UR-style blips unravel over a driving tribal groove. The US producer also drops another surprise in the form of "Purgatorio", where atmospheric organ stabs offset his typically driving dance floor rhythm.

Review: Cologne cronies ANDHIM add some bells and whistles to a vinyl only release they did last year on top of some new touches to their Buenos Aires EP. Pitched down monotonous rave tones spring to life in an acid tripping remix to "Duno" - getting all UK hardcore on your ass - with Polish duo Catz n Dogz building their drum machines, percussion layovers and white noise build ups to dramatic effect that extend themselves into tearing basslines and tropical crescendos. Benjamin Frohlich also chooses an exotic route in his remix to "Aires", with a spiralling arpeggiator and fluctuating keys pumping in sweet unison and melody.

Review: Icelandic dub techno outpost Thule presents a welcome reissue of a classic from the archives. Thorhallur Skulason has been operating since the 90s in a variety of guises including Sanasol and OZ Artists, but this classic EP from 1998 is surely one of the high points of his career as Thor. "T1" leads the charge on this remastered release, perfecting the art of throbbing, trancey techno with sparse ingredients and a killer groove. "T2" is the light to "T1"'s shade, leaving the door open for harmonious synth ripples to chime through amongst other delicate sonic delights.

Review: Publicity-shy Mexican producer Joseph Terruel - his online presence could teach those Romanians a thing or two about minimalism! - returns to Paraiso Musique with an instrumental cut that sits right on the cusp of nu-disco, Balearica and funky house. An unhurried, rolling affair with handclaps a-gogo, 'Tranquilo' is pleasant enough listening and certainly won't drive any bodies from the dancefloor, though as it lives up to its name and is really rather unassuming, some more mixes might have helped broaden its appeal. That's assuming, of course, that there isn't a remix package waiting in the wings...

Review: Ellen Allien should need no introduction, the longstanding heroine of the Berlin scene for two decades as an acclaimed DJ who heads up the now legendary Bpitch Control imprint. Allien now introduces her new label UFO Inc. with this terrific inaugural effort that perfectly captures the energetic hardware sound of her new sound - which will be dedicated to a rough and raw approach to contemporary techno. Features the mentalist tunnel vision of the title track which will draw you deep into the vortex, followed by the powerful acid techno stomper "Korpermaschine" which adds to further tension and suspense - best enjoyed under the strobe light.

Review: With no social media presence, it's fair to assume that Mexican producer Joseph Terruel is something of the retiring type. 'Cozy Life', being a single-track release, is similarly unassuming: rather than bursting into your eardrums with 17 different remixes and demanding you spent the next two hours listening to them all, Terruel constructs a simple, synth-led groove that operates on the nu-disco/Balearic margins and tops it with wonky, tripped-out keys and a breathy "don't miss me" female vocal that loops throughout. Imagine The Clangers recovering on a beach from a particularly heavy night before and you're somewhere in the ballpark.

Review: Laurene Exposito is back on Amsterdam's Knekelhuis with a follow up to her well received debut album. This new record is said to be very personal - life changes and her love life are said to be central themes. All tracks have been recorded at Exposito's home in the Rennes, France using all analogue equipment. Starting out with the seductive coldwave tribute "Yellow Density" which features some inventive synth action that reaches near acid moments over her deadpan vocals. Title track "Cocktail Mexico" goes for some Dopplereffekt style electro shenanigans and "Go Forward" conjuring up comparisons to early Tropic Of Cancer on this hazy lo-fi goth journey.
