Review: Blank Mind Recordings, based in London, has tapped into the significance of a particular strand of jungle and breakbeat hardcore music prevalent during the period of 1991-1994. Their latest compilation showcases eight tracks characterized by dense atmospheric breaks, featuring artists such as DJ Mayhem, Luxury, and Skanna from that era. The standout track, 'Inesse' by Mayhem, serves as the focal point around which the compilation is curated. Against the backdrop of a tumultuous political climate, notably marked by the passage of the stringent anti-rave Criminal Justice Act in 1994, this record and its pulsating compositions take on a renewed significance, reframed within a context of resistance and social justice.

Review: OG pioneers Krome & Time get reflective and look back over their time in the foundation trenches, crafting blueprints we still work off to this day. This Suburban Base compendium is the result; 20 tracks deep (some of which have been on DAT and dub for well for the best part of 30 years), it covers their whole journey from their hardcore foundation to their more cosmic style of intergalactic drum & bass. Highlights include their rave-rushed piano-slammer 'Everybody Can Be' as Higher Level, their stripped-back percussive odyssey 'Final Destination' and their euphoric rave anthem 'The Slammer'. Make time for this.

We Are I.E. (Filter Dread remix) - (5:04) 131 BPM
Review: With the re-arrival of breaks and hardcore onto a much more popular landscape, we are thrilled to see just how many labels and artists are unleashing drops, especially over the last few weeks. This collection from Lennie De Ice is a solid dive into where the sound currently is, opening up with the bulbous bass bounces and chiming melodic drifts of 'We Are I.E', the extended edit which lands with some serious impact. The rest of the project comes to us in the form of remixes, with Solo & Blades stepping up first for their super tidy 'Yellow Cali' mix, redesign the breaks into a much more processed design, before Borai's Brizzle Bassline mix sends the original into 4x4 realm, juiced with garage flavour. Finally, Filter Dread unleashes his aquatic overhaul, rounding off the project with another tidy design.

Let Me Love You Tonight (Casa Blanco Retouched)
4
Let Me Love You Tonight - (7:20) 114 BPM
Played by: Juno Download
Review: Kariya's "Let Me Love You For Tonight" is a freestyle classic from 1988 which received a massive remix by Electronic Youth a little while back. You can now add Casa Blanco's version to the list which retains all the neon-lit qualities of the original, yet reshaped for modern dancefloors. The track originally appeared on her debut, non-album single on Sleeping Bag Records. It was written by and produced by Bob and Jerry Ferrer. After this, Kariya disappeared into obscurity.

Kill The Bill - (4:34) 128 BPM
Sirens - (6:47) 117 BPM
Review: The Sprechen team have delivered a tasty selection of futuristic house-driven taste on this latest link up with Acolyte, unveiling three dancefloor ready bubblers with a tonne of original nostalgic influence woven throughout. First up, we take in the title track 'Helter Skelter', a steady, moog-driven chop through old school drum processing and euphoric pad textures, before the swirling synth patterns and distant vocal reverberations of 'Kill The Bill' sweep into play. Finally, 'Sirens' slows the pace down massively with a much calmer combination of moog-like bass notation and atmospheric texturing, rounding off this one with a dash of additional finesse.

Review: Seven years on from the release of his critically acclaimed debut album, Kevin McAuley has finally delivered a follow-up. Pleasingly, there's no grandiose conceptual theme or attempt to shoehorn in weaker tracks in a bid to showcase versatility; instead, McAuley has just done what he does best, namely delivering fearsome dancefloor workouts that blur the boundaries between techno, UK bass and the more warped and intense end of analogue house. Highlights come thick and fast throughout, from the wobble bass-propelled, warehouse-ready heat of 'Instillation' and the sub-heavy, post-UKG shuffle of 'Hole Away', to the heavy-stepping, R&B vocal-sampling breathlessness of 'If' and the big room-ready techno hypnotism of 'Changing Channels'. He even provides his own twisted take on uplifting trance via the brilliantly hectic and rushing 'Bad Lines'.

Review: The Scotch Bonnet team are known for their fantastic innovation within numerous different areas of sound, headed up by the Mungos Hi Fi team. This latest combination sees the likes of Gardna & Catching Cairo join forces with the Glaswegian sound system champions for a wavy new single entitled 'Back In The Dayz'. It's an interesting blend of influences as the hardcore-infused production provides the backdrop over which Gardna & Catching Cairo are able to deliver a nostalgia inducing blend of lyrical content and old school flows. It's a pleasing one for sure!

Review: It's time to jump onto the sample pad and cause some serious madness as Urban Shakedown sees Aphrodite join the party for a vibrant four track expanse. We begin with the title track 'Do It Now!', a super choppy rinse out, combining nostalgic breakbeat manoeuvres with booming subs for excellent results! Next, 'There Is No Other' takes a more lofi approach with a smooth low end and fuzzy drum textures, before 'Assassinator' flips the script with some carnival ready whistle-work layered into more pounding drum designs. Finally, we dive down an acidic alley as 'Quasar' fuses moogy synth warbles with scattered breakbeat lines to round us off in style!

Review: With garage becoming one of the most popular areas of underground dance music again over the past few years, it is important for producers to be able to stand out among the crowd. This latest offering from the Shall Not Fade crew sees Ramu arrive with a feature length LP project, exploring the best of both garage and breaksy goodness with this 11 track adventure. From the acidic backdrops of 'Ignite' and glistening atmospheric jangles of 'This Creature', to the shuffling percussive patterns of 'Is It Ok' and super digitised designs of 'Soarr, Ramu covers a tonne of ground in a relatively short space of time. Our highlights from this heavyweight selection would include the swampy yet charming synthetic sweeps of 'Timetravels', next to more hard-house inspired drum designs of 'Helix', letting loose more acidic shivers for your eardrums to enjoy. Lovely stuff!

Review: And they just keep on coming... This is the sixth instalment of Noisia remixes from some of the brightest and most twisted minds across the electronic board. From newcomer to veteran, the remix doors are open and rules are out of the window. Highlights on this particular collection include the return of the mighty Sleepnet who effectively remixes himself to dramatic effect, the almighty breaks lashing from Glitch Mob, the unholy 4x4 neuro twist up from Black Sun Empire and Nikki Nair's amazing twist on Split The Atom that includes Foreign Beggars bars never before released! RIP Ebo! An honorary mentions goes to Koarse, too, for his gabba shake-up finale. The first remix of 'Dead Limit' so far, this sets the benchmark high. Long may the Resonance series continue.

Review: The Shall Not Fade parade continues to roll forward, with an explosive collection of remixes now on display from Chrissy, giving 'You Don't Have To Worry' a number of top quality refixes, perfect for sending dances nationwide into an absolute frenzy. First, the 'Big Ang Garage' remix takes the track down a breaks-driven, nostalgia-flood avenue of swiftness, focussing on glittering chords and tidy drum work, before the 'Big Ang Rave' version pulls things back for a more piano-driven feeling. Finally, the 'Paul & Shark' remix gives the track an even sharper feeling, focussing on clicky percussion and heavy vocal delays, to round off a top spectrum of spicy reworks.

Review: It seems that nearly every week we find ourselves inundated with a new box of goodies from the Time Is Now team, with this being the 22nd edition of their 'White' series, emulating white label culture with some fearsome A&R work. This time around, the legendary Shadow Child returns for four tasty snacks, kicking off with the floaty choral backdrops and breaks-infused sub chomps of 'O Yeah'. Next, a slower, more moogy adventure through crunchy drum processing and bubbling basslines alongside Mr Time in 'Empire', before 'P&O' takes us right back to the heart of 90's rave with a nostalgic masterclass in synthetic backing. Review: Victor Shan has long been one of Germany's premier rave revivalists, with a trademark sound - best exemplified by his periodic outings on Running Back - that evokes mental images of turn-of-the-90s warehouse parties and smoke-filled basement bashes. His belated return to Gerd Janson's imprint once again pushes this sonic aesthetic to the fore, with the title referencing the Chicago venue of the same name that helped birth house music. It's full-throttle, hands-in-the-air music from the off, where stab-happy, breakbeat-powered stomper 'Abfahrt' is followed by the 'Apache'-sampling excitement of 'Strobe Light' and the surging, Italo-style arpeggiated bass of 'Volume Up'. The fun continues via the moody 'Textura', the lusciously loved-up 'R8000' and the classic Chicago house flex of 'Shifter'.

Following recent dispatches on the likes of 3AM Eternal and Lore, the young Bristolian gets his jazzy cosmic freak on once again; the Orbital-meets-Justice pads and punches of 'Seperation' and the deep dream Omni Trio flurries and vapour trails of 'This Time' are too particularly stunning highlights, but the whole EP is sublime.

Review: Suburban Base Recordings have pulled every favour out of the back and left no stone unturned in their pursuit of creating a top quality compilation, giving us sixteen tracks of pure breakbeat energy. From start to finish, the quality level simply refuses to dip, from the jungle influenced drum dips and chords of 'Come My Selecta' from DJ Peekay, to the nostalgic hardcore melodies of Max Voltage's 'Make You Scream' and GBH's throwback-inspired roller in 'Back From The Grave'. Providing the perfect combination of jungle and breaks from start to finish, our highlights would have to include the jittering horn melodies of E.Kude's 'Common Sens', the synth-raining shimmers of E-Type's 'E-25' and of course the electrifying drum chops of D'Cruze's 'Life', alongside the awesome vocals of Rachel Wallace. Review: The Hardcore Energy team have delivered a powerful drop with this one, welcoming the fiery sounds of LSN to the table with a crunchy collection of six breaks-driven bangers. We begin with the the jittering acidic whirlpool that is 'Sometimes I Take Acid', which sees both Sharpson & Wax White join the party for a party-starting epic, followed by 'Softscape' a sublow bubbler, ready to bust any soundsystem wide open. From here, the slower drum slides of 'Don't Hesitate' arrive for a more emotional switch, followed closely by 'Infinity Pool' another euphoric eruption that sees 9TRANE join the party for another silky switchup. Finally, two additional belters, with 'The Unknown' firstly leading the way for a much organic, drum-driven design, followed by 'Rush Hour', which utilises glistening pads and catchy vocal overlays for a fiery finale!

Review: It's always good to see new music from the nostalgia inducing sounds of Hardcore Energy, who this time invite the wonderful MKII inside for a dazzling display of original breakbeat flavour. We open up with the pure euphoria of 'This Is', a piano-lead piece of sonic mastery, taking rave-ready vocal lines and grin-inducing key melodies to bring the house down in any dance. The other original takes the title 'Can't You See' and takes a slightly more stripped back approach, but is again pushed forward by a fantastic rave piano lead, evoking memories of many of a dancefloor in all of us. Both of these originals have been given a tasty remix, with Samurai Breaks firstly upping the tempo on 'This Is' for a gorgeous twist up, followed by Agora's heavyweight, jungle-inspired acidic journey through 'Can't See You'. The 2020 Lockdown mix of 'Helter Skelter' is why we find ourselves kicking off, as nostalgic rave chords and sweeping junglist basslines are let loose to run wild before the spacy pads and crunchy breakbeat murmurs of 'Backwards' arrive shortly after. Review: The first volume of Hardcore Energy Introducing is considered an essential selection of rave material by a new generation of producers, packed full of nostalgia that will transport you back to the halcyon days of the Free Party scene: think pirate radio, warehouse raves and dancing in the fields. It opens up with the proto-jungle roller by Tribe Steppaz & 6Blocc "Down With The Underground", then comes a throwback to the loved-up euphoria of the early '90s on 9Trane's "Thuggish", while Farayen takes us back to the second summer of love beneath the M25 on "Can't Take It" and Sharpson is the real star on here with two tracks - his finest being "I Think I Know This One" which harks back to the R&S glory days.

Review: What a monsterous collection of creations we have here as we explore the full range of breakbeat influences, from slower, more clunky original creations, to garage inspired rollers and everything in-between. The sheer mass of this collection is one of it's immediate charms as we are gifted over 50 originals and remixes, each one bringing something unique to the table from a supporting cast including the likes of Origin8a & Propa, Benton, MKII, Deekline, Samurai Breaks and more. The constant changes of direction and expansionary sense of sonic inclusion are both big yesses from us, with our favourites including 9Trane's nostalgic bubbler 'Thuggish', next to the housey piano drives of Herve's 'Live Together' and the old school garage flavour of Matt Jam Lamont, Echelon & Tuff Culture, who join focus for 'Massive & Crew'. Tidy work indeed!

Review: What a combo we have here as Doctor Jeep makes his appearance on Hardcore Energy with four dizzying creations, exploring the most creative rhythmic arrangements. First up, some slapping breaksy magic on the VIP mix of 'Vault Of Glass', a sumptuous combination of metallic bass design and crunchy drum work, followed by the 'Hardcore Mix' of 'Dissociate', a certified dive into the history of breakbeat with some gorgeous percussive processing at the forefront. From here, the VIP of 'Laff Trak' is unleashed, once again doused in gorgeous junglist energy and smooth bassline action, before Cirrus joins us for a wavy finale in 'No Water', a reese-driven warble through swampy atmospherics to close off this EP with some serious heat!

Salt - (5:01) 125 BPM
Fat - (3:13) 80 BPM
Acid Heater - (4:27) 108 BPM Hot
Review: Next up from Ac1d Vicious, a playful three track collection, exploring the more acidic side of breakbeat culture, delivering a set of unique, yet potent originals. We begin with the constantly alternating backdrops and blippy textures of 'Salt', a truly unpredictable piece of magic, dipped in acid-house synths, industrial sounding glitches and nostalgic pad textures for good measure. From here, 'Fat' drives down a much more hardcore influenced avenue, with booming synthesizer sizzles leading the way atop a computerized backdrop. Finally, 'Acid Heater' takes us back to the raves of the early 90's, with throwback chord melodies playing a lead role, sitting gracefully above high intensity breaks and a seriously glitchy set of everything else you could wish for. Beautiful work!

Let's Jet Out - (5:48) 140 BPM Hot
Get On Down - (4:38) 140 BPM
Call Me - (5:22) 140 BPM
Review: The Hardcore Energy team have assembled a very cool collection of dancefloor ready weapons here as they invite the sounds of Borai inside for a heavily sampled display of breaks-inspired marvelousness. We open up with the old school vocal repetitions and chunky breakbeat drum lines of 'Lets Jet Out', which through a subtle, reesey bass pulsation below, really gets the party started. From here, the dizzying shaker lines and moogy pulses of 'Get On Down' give us a more airy arrangement, giving us a nice sense of contrast, before 'Call Me' sends us straight back to the underground with an unorthodox showcasing of old school synthesizer bleeps, soulful vocal drives and sharpened breakbeat drums for good measure. Lovely work!

Review: Since breaking out into the UKG scene, we have watched Smokey Bubblin' B develop into a real fan favourite, however, this latest drop sees him spread his wings a little further, exploring a vicious collection of hardcore jungle originals, perfectly in time for festival season. We open up with 'Summer Of Luv', a thumping throwback laced with nostalgic piano chords and choppy jungle breaks, laced together with looping vocal slices for even more old school flavour. This is then chased up by the more digital chord structures of 'Gone Fantazia', another super choppy thrill ride, this time topped with shimmering organs for good measure. We then slide into the super scattered drum textures of 'Nova', one final throw of the dice to round off the EP in style!

Review: Doc Zee is a true mastermind within his craft, so to see him arrive in full force on Hardcore Energy was something we were very exciting to see! We begin our journey through this three-track collection with a swim into 'Fantazia', taking some classic vocal samples and repurposing them for a high tempo adventure, glued together with gnarly reesey rumbles and sharpened breakbeat action. Next, a slightly slower paced excursion as 'Foolishness' arrives with a more industrial feel attached to its chunky drum work, topped with hardcore piano melodies for good measure, before moving into our finale of 'No More Tears'. This one is going to cause a ruckus or three for certain, with its glittering arpeggios, 4x4 breaks-infused drum sets and euphoria-inducing pad textures all culminating in a wonderful overall feel. Top stuff once again from Doc Zee and the Hardcore Energy team!

Review: The Hardcore Energy team have a proven track record when it comes to exploring full length EP projects, dipping and diving into a wonderfully laced combination of nostalgia and new school energy. This latest four track experience from Andrew Whitwell is a prime example of their quality control being as strong as ever, opening up with the bulbous breaksy goodness of 'Almond Break', which through eerie pad strings and powerful basslines, kicks us off with a bang. We up the pace next with 'Love Fantasy', which unleashes a lethal barrage of junglist drum launches, next to the dizzying synthetic interludes of 'Instruments Of Siren', giving us a brain sizzling display of delightful hardcore arrangement. Finally, 'Day Of Night' dips into a more acidic field of play, focussing on pulsing drum crunches and slower paced designs, to give us one last unexpected twist before closing out the EP. Excellent stuff!

Review: It's always exciting to see a new drop from MKII, one of the most consistent new school breaks artists to emerge, once again delivering his delightful fusion of high energy drums and retro soundscaping. We open up this new collection with the nostalgia-inducing chord progressions of 'Come In', a throwback thumper, followed by both the dizzying synth pads of 'Here 4 U' and rave-inspiring organ chords of 'The Launch'. The party has well and truly commenced at this point, with the old school piano leads and euphoric vocal mashups of the title track 'Let It Roll' upping the pace once more, followed by 'Give It All' which follows a similar brand of sonic overload, before 'Tango' sees the project come to a close with a much more unorthodox approach, stacking moogy bass clunks and scratch heavy drum breaks. We begin with the euphoria-inducing chord progressions of 'Feeling Inside', upping the energy from the jump, before GHSTGHSTGHST turns up the heat further for a fiery sweep through bulbous drums and more of those throwback chord-lines. From here a much more stripped back groove as Jai Dee delivers a moogy 4x4 bubbler in 'Dancin', followed by both the high energy half-time rhythmic smashes of 'Security' from T-Cuts and unorthodox chops of 'One thicc DJ Tool' from Mincy. Sub-Bass Experience - (4:56) 129 BPM
The Reflex - (4:54) 129 BPM
Review: Originally released in 1991, Volume 2 has lost none of its impact. "My Sound" is a wild, rave-techno track where Beltram melds hardcore riffs with devilish vocal samples. Both "The Melody" and "Reflex" are more sombre in tone. Moody sub-bass unravels over rolling break beats on the former, while the latter resounds to acid tones and gently building snare rolls. On "The Sub-Bass Experience", Beltram brings the intensity levels back up. Driven by chattering claps and a malevolent low end, it also features moody textures and eerie synth lines. Like Energy Flash, which Beltram released around the same time, Volume 2 remains a timeless EP.

Review: Second time around for Victor Shan's Candi Staton-sporting 'One Day', which first surfaced - complete with Earth Trax and Litherland remixes - three years ago. This time round the track appears on legendary UK label Hooj Choons in reworked form, with the Frankfurter's original mix nowhere to be seen. That's not a criticism though, because the fresh reworks are undeniably impressive. The headline-grabbing revision (which comes accompanied by an edited version of the rework) comes from sometime Unknown To The Unknown contributor Third Son, who successfully re-imagines it as a super-summery slab of hands-aloft piano house perfection complete with breakbeat blasts and two spine-tingling breakdowns. LMajor provides the other revision, revelling in a piano-sporting, breakbeat-driven revision that recalls the glory days of breakbeat hardcore.

Review: Breaking through the surface last year with a sweet run of releases via the likes of E-Beamz, Sneaker Social Club and Lobster Theremin, the Sheffield three-piece Denham Audio return to the latter with another five-track missive: Transcendence. Taking in the slightest of bleep references atop a jungle groove and soundboy lyrics is "Run Da Ting", get a second bite out of something similar (only graced by rave) in "Retort". Its lead track "Transcendence (feat 7ip7o3)" sees a lo-fi, trippy and drum and bass sound flirt with vocals and textures that evoke imagery from the film Lost in Translation, while for something retro, housier and garage tipped its all about "Top Boy" and "Club Culture".

With visions of Essex raves and free parties perhaps inspiring something of the sound here, it's hard not to think Prodigy "Everybody In The Place" when hearing "It's Official" - to the searing basslines and melodies in "One Tribe" and "Weak Capacity". Jai Dee is on production duty with a killer intro on 'Coming Up Again', a vibrant display of distant drum slides and windy synthesizer sweeps, before euphoria sets in with 'Tears In Your Voice', a homemade to hardcore, stuffed full of electric chord progressions for good measure. From here, the rave feel only intensifies as 'We Can Have It All' unveils more feel good harmonic structure and glittering drum design, getting even the sturnest party-goer up and onto the dancefloor, before 'Hold Love By The Hand' puts the final touches onto the project and rounding it off with a colourful, expressive bang. Review: Tim Reaper has been on an absolute tear recently, releasing on his own Globex Corp as well as founding Future Retro, and now, following releases on sublabels, he has his first EP on the Lobster Theremin main label. It's a perfect exemplification of his talent as a producer, as Tim moves from industrial breaks business into high-speed house and nonchalant, lounging break techno. Its title track is the heaviest, with nostalgic synths leading into a deeply fractious set of amens wrapped up in a veneer of 90s soundscapes and urban vibes. 'Sequence 2' is a slightly different sound than we've heard from him recently, as pacy 4x4 kicks drive through a wispy scape of undulating vocal notes and twirling synth touches. The final two tracks are more expert-level breaks business - Tim, we salute you. Bigups.

Review: Lobster Theremin are one of the coolest labels around, with their reputation coming more from the house and techno side of things than from jungle, but the have a capacity for the diverse and Coco Bryce is flying that flag here. There's diversity even within this release too, from the rolling reece basses of 'Smoke Screen' to the pitched-up siren stutters of 'Blue Tile Lounge'. But it's the title track which reeally pinched us, with a floating vocal sample that simply shivers in delight alongside its roughshod jungle drums. Fantastic work from both label and artist here.

First up, Wislov sends 'Dope-e-dwarf' into the acidic blender, formulating a bubbling combination of choppy drum pumps and creepy soundscapes into an old school hardcore roller, followed by Doughboy's more kick-heavy rethink, jam packed with trappy overtones from the jump. Review: Multi Culti presents Orchid's vibrant homage to Spain's trance era on this album, blending Balearic charm with a rejection of modern techno's commercialism. Orchid, residing in a psychedelic-deprived environment, longs for the cultural amalgamation of sensuality, power, affection, and sweetness prevalent in Spanish-speaking music communities. Techno Valencia invites listeners to embark on a nostalgic voyage, conjuring the soul-stirring resonance of a bygone musical epoch. Through the exploration of archival sounds, Orchid revives the essence of unadulterated musical expression, urging a return to a time when music was deeply emotive--a testament to passion and enjoyment in an era overshadowed by commercialization.

Review: The ever-ready versatility of MKII is once again back on display with a vibrant exploration of hardcore and breakbeat fusion, coming to us courtesy of the super consistent Dansu Discs crew. First up, the old school rave piano's and heavily affected vocal slides of 'My Mind' set the tone perfectly, upping the emotional tonality further with the euphoric vocal taps and more standardised breaks action of 'No More' in close pursuit. Next, another tempo jump as the title track 'On Your Own' fuses high intensity breaks, keys and catchy vocal overlays for a rave-ready adventure, with the EP then closing on summertime flavours of 'To Be Free', closing off another impressive outing from all involved.

Review: Between 1990 and '92, Nottingham's Mark Gamble and Leroy Crawford released a series of Bleep-influenced cuts that have since become classics. This expansive EP gathers together some of their most potent cuts, throwing in a few lesser-known tracks for good measure. The key cut is 'Take Me Back', an excitable mixture of Unique 3 style raw bleeps, rumbling sub-bass, shuffling drums and rave-igniting synth stabs. Gamble's 2020 update is tastefully done and arguably even more potent than the original mix, while the 1990 'Bass-Head' mix and sub-heavy Rob Gordon Edit are both essential. Elsewhere, 'Frequency' joins the dots between bleep and dreamy Italian house; 'Wind Me Up' is simultaneously sleazy and rush-inducing; 'Night People' is deliciously low-slung; and 'Splat' a successful exercise in deep, melodious Bleep & Bass.

Review: The Hotflush team have once again unveiled an absolute gem of an LP, this time welcoming back the man himself Scuba, delivering 7 original creations that pack an awesome breaksy punch. The whole EP sets the bar high, from the shuffling drum scuttles and groove-inspiring chord progressions of the introductory 'Disrepute', to the old school shakes of 'Zap!' and speedy melodic twists of 'Yesterday', there aren't many places this EP doesn't cover. Our highlights from this delightful collection would have to include the acidic intricacies of 'Safety Traxx', which immediately lets fly a bulbous collection of nostalgic-bassline action, alongside the rave-ready piano lines of 'Room With A View'. What a return this is for Scuba, who has once again smashed it out of the park.

Review: It's time to dive into some legendary business as two absolute goliaths of the D&B & breaks scenes link up here to deliver a tasty piece of goodness indeed. We are taking incredibly oldschool as 'Bass Shake' links up hardcore-sounding organ notation with clunky yet pleasing drum break slices and catchy vocal sampling to deliver something truly enjoyable. The release also comes complete with a few additional versions, including the more energetic drum designs of the 'Release' mix and more experimental acidic synthesizer extensions of the 'Hard dub' mix. Exciting stuff indeed.

Review: Next up from the ever-ready Hot Haus team, a jumpy collection of rollers from FAFF & Ugly Drugless, with a truly magical feeling throughout. We open up with icey pad textures and glistening arrangements of 'Mrs Feet Fingers', a steadily progressing star-scape of glistening hats and tidy acidic basslines, with the breaks-driven squeaks of 'Crappy Hardcore' then following in close pursuit. From here, Ugly Drugless arrives in collaboration, firstly on a steadily bopping sub skips of 'Ugly & Sad' and then on 'I Love Music', an adventure of an original, sliding between Eva Roisin's sweet vocal samples and booming acidic slaps to match. Awesome work!

Review: For their latest release, veteran duo SR & Digbee have decided to look back for inspiration, back to the early '90s D&B sound to be more specific. They've tried to cover as much of the sound of this era as possible over four tracks, largely dropping the BPM from their usual 170 to around 140. The results are impressive with "Contagious" revisiting the good old days of pop-jungle, "Body Swerve" is all acidic dub, "Special Dedication" gets into deep D&B territory and "Zoom Zoom" steals a bit of Public Enemy to end on a hardcore high.

Review: Where were you in '92? Well Berkshire's Indigo Virus was there sweating it out down the front of early Prodigy gigs and the like. He's been trying capture the essence of the 90s through his keyboard wizardry and production skills ever since. Here we get four such cuts for our listening pleasure. The speedy "Scotty Please" is all pitched up synth stabs and 145bpm mania, the happy hardcore of "Vital Signs" sounds like an off cut from The Experience and "Take You Back" is all about skittering breaks and ascending ecstasy melodies. Lastly "Shutter Us Down" is an SL2-style furious rave anthem.

Review: The Section 63 Recordings crew have a knack for digging up new school classics within their release catalogue, with this brand new four tracker from KeeF being a perfect example of that metric. We begin with the catchy vocal reloads and hardcore melodic jitters of 'Brainstorm', a fitting title track, laced with original breakbeat flavour. Next, the hardcore piano stutters and sweeping bass tones of 'Believe' keep the energy levels high, before the more shaker-driven drum slaps of 'Double Trouble' give us a more more organic feel, still of course uitilzing those classic spacey pad textures to maximum effect. Finally, 'Newson Knows' switches between lo-fi drum sampling and higher ranged vocal slices to give us a pretty outstanding exploration of the original breakbeat sound, with the constantly switching drum designs rounding off this EP with a smash.
