Review: Like the first volume, the second instalment of Great Carnival is loosely based around the concept of integrating South American sounds and influences into modern electronic music. On Tube & Berger's "Prohibition" and Hernandez's "Confetti" this idea manifests itself through the inclusion of celebratory horns, Mowgli's "Abacaxi" shows its love for Latin samples through the same vocal layered on top of itself until it creates an irresistible cacophony, and the rippling bass of Jean Claude Ades' "Latin Fever" drops unexpectedly into a celebratory piano riff. Not everyone gets in the carnival spirit however, and Andhim's "Holz Ist" and Rainer Weichhold's "One Willi For The Road" reference disco-tinged tribal and MANDY-style neo-trance melodies.

Review: Berlin native Oliver Koletzki has cited his hometown as a main point of reference and inspiration throughout his career. His last two albums are said to be 'wholehearted tributes' to the German capital and its importance in the current climate of electronic music. The label's aesthetic - right down to the cover art is testament to this - featuring photos of local landmarks and graffiti adorning his fair city. There are little to no corners in the city that haven't brought a spark of inspiration into the mix and the eighth instalment of the Schneeweiss (English translation 'white snow') compilation series, is said to be a tribute to the many aspects or 'particles' consolidated as a series of carefully curated tracks. There's so many highlights on here and we're only going to name a few, but they're not limited to: hometown hero and one time Terranova member Rampa's brooding dance floor drama on "Fluke", Frankey & Sandrino bridging the gap between tech-house and nu-disco ever so gracefully again on "Solaris", Cologne's finest Andhim lend their deft hand on a remix of Leipzig figurehead Matthias Tanzmann's "Coffee Clouds" and the man from Mannheim Ray Okpara who's still going: his track "Satin Curtain" getting a smooth remix by the legendary Kevin Yost.

Review: Andhim aka Simon Haehnel and Tobias Muller have been releasing their heady mixture of house and techno for the past seven years, but Huso is one of their most original records yet. The title track is an expansive affair, built on loose drums and rolling percussion, and also featuring vocodered vocals and Middle Eastern motifs. It's one of 2017's most distinctive and strangely infectious house tracks. "Amene" is another unusual affair; while it draws on a familiar-sounding chord build, it features a strangely hypnotic vocal sample - possibly from North Africa - playing out and building over an out-of-kilter rhythm. It makes for an unusual, exotic release.

Review: German house duo Andhim have been whipping up a storm with their releases on Get Physical, Terminal M and Sunset Handjob, fusing Caribou-friendly pastoral tones with intricate, glitchy electronics, and they're at it once again on this new single for DJ T's label. "Spayce" is a soaring beast that rides on an energetic beat even as the effervescent synths reach skywards. "Domplatte" plies a slightly more measured trade, even if the sound is no less plush and fulsomely produced with its swathes of vocal coos and hooky chords. When it comes to emotive house music for starry nights these guys really know what they're doing

Review: Cologne cronies ANDHIM add some bells and whistles to a vinyl only release they did last year on top of some new touches to their Buenos Aires EP. Pitched down monotonous rave tones spring to life in an acid tripping remix to "Duno" - getting all UK hardcore on your ass - with Polish duo Catz n Dogz building their drum machines, percussion layovers and white noise build ups to dramatic effect that extend themselves into tearing basslines and tropical crescendos. Benjamin Frohlich also chooses an exotic route in his remix to "Aires", with a spiralling arpeggiator and fluctuating keys pumping in sweet unison and melody.

Review: As the label's name might imply, German duo Andhim have some truly valuable mates. Some of them have come together to remix Tosch - and the package gets off to an impressive start with Roman Flugel's take on the title track. Fusing melodic synth twists with a pulsating bass and Piper Davis' deadpan vocals, the veteran producer turns in a spellbinding version. It means that Clavis has a hard act to follow as he is also tasked with reworking "Tosch", but he rises to the occasion thanks to a bleep-heavy, electronic disco version. Acid Pauli's take on "Horse Society" is in a similar vein, albeit with a greater focus on cowbells and niggling acid, while on Jimi Jules take on "Mond", a sleazy, slightly tongue in cheek vocal unravels over a brooding, bass-heavy techno groove.

Review: The debut long-player from Cologne natives Simon Haehnel and Tobias Mueller, better known as Andhim, doubles as the soundtrack to their recent "on the road" documentary 'Miles To Go'. That's worth noting, because it's an album that's long on soundtrack-y, soundscape-y vibes, particularly in the first half - see, for instance, ambient interludes 'Ferne' and 'Pacific Park'. Later on, cuts like 'Huso', 'Stay Close To Me' and 'Donner' operate in more familiar melodic techno territory, while Roman Fl?gel's remix of 'Tosch' channels Kraftwerk, but an album packed full of club bangers this most certainly is not. Not that that's a problem!

Review: Released in late 2017, Cologne tech house heroes Andhim presented the powerful "Huso", the title track from the EP. Not ones to rest on their laurels, they've now found the the time right to release a killer remix package. Italian duo Armonica deliver a brooding example of dance floor drama that will appeal to fans of Afterlife or Stil Vor Talent on their version. The unstoppable Frankey & Sandrino deliver a minimal and hypnotic epic as always, with their rendition of "Amene". As does Israeli rising star Autarkic, who works his magic as always on this cosmic journey straight into the stratosphere.

Review: Respected German tech house duo Andhim are back on their very own Superfriends imprint with some surefire grooves for the main room. "Stay Close To Me" nails that dark and hypnotic German tech house sound, with its brooding elements and wonky synth leads supporting Hogni Egilsson's (formerly of Gus Gus) emotional vocal delivery. He returns with an even more brilliant performance on the mellow chill-out journey "Miles To Go", an evocative little number featuring some simple exotic percussion and deep bass lines to back the rich orchestral score.
