Review: There's plenty to set the pulse racing on Beyond The Struttosphere's belated return to Gouranga Music, not least the deliciously muscular title track, which peppers a throbbing, Italo-disco style groove with Bobby Orlando synth sounds, 'Easy Rider' spoken word samples and the kind of crunchy, excitement-building synth-guitar sounds previously championed on Daft Punk's 'Discovery' album. The EP also contains two reworks - a pleasingly pulsating, dubbed-out Italo throb-job from Rigopolar and a chunkier, nu-disco style re-make courtesy of Juve - and a couple of additional cuts including 'Set Lazers To Stun', where delay-laden, eyes-closed heavy metal guitar solos twist around a sequenced synth bassline and smooth beats. Rebedello's bonus remix of that track, a more spacey, chugging and mind-altering affair, is also very good.

Review: The same Gouranga Music that brought us creamy nu disco cuts from the likes of Algy Strutt, Hardisco co-founder Kalson and Spa In Disco artist K-Effect now introduces Beyond The Struttosphere! A two-track single packed with four remixes, "New Frontier" throws down a searing synth line attached to an aggy bassline flecked by cosmic acid guitars, while "Rolling Thunder" turns in a rockin' disco tune through its delayed metal riffs, grungey spoken word samples and dubbed-out appeal. The Gouranga Clan remix clears away the spacey noise of the original to deliver a edgier, stripped back version of "Rolling Thunder", while K-Effect plays with melody and italo lazer synths in its remake of "New Frontier". Mufti keeps it electrified and muffled leaving James Rod to bring it home with some spiralling peaks and huge, slo-mo industrial drops. To the Struttosphere and beyond!
