Review: Acclaimed Italian duo Tale Of Us present the third Realm Of Consciousness compilation on Afterlife Recordings. A collection of spellbinding and melodic epics packed full of narratives plus plenty of dancefloor drama awaits with some rather surprising additions too - artist wise. The German hero Recondite serves up the powerful opening track "Savaaq" with its tension and suspense and those soaring melodies, fellow Italians Mind Against team up with Blausch on the hypnotic bliss of "Trust My Eyes" and Ukranian deep techno experts Woo York give us the steely heads down techno of "Discovery". Elsewhere, southern Italians Agents Of Time appear with the adrenalised and entrancing cyclicality of "Superia", frequent Tale Of Us collaborator Vaal takes you deep into the aether on "Weakness Days" and ascendant German Kevin De Vries gets into freefall on the sublime "Phoenix"

Review: Following on from last year's second Consciousness compilation, Afterlife returns with an even more ambitious project. Label owners Tale of Us deliver a suitably melodic track, "Nova", but there are also a series of contributions from high-profile artists. Sterac's "Universum" is an expertly weighted, stripped back techno affair, while on "Phase In", Edit Select takes it deeper with a throbbing, tranced out groove that is like a more refined take on early Plus 8 material. Completing the techno triumvirate is Scuba's SCB project. Now also a vehicle for the UK producer's socially conscious thoughts, "Tide Slide", which is possibly a reference to the effects of climate change, sees him deliver a frosty techno groove.

Review: More deeply melodic techno, expertly executed by the Exit Strategy camp in the form of Fideles. Danilo Aprile and Mario Roberti are a Southern Italian duo based in Taranto. Following up top releases on labels such as Poker Flat, Stil Vor Talent and Afterlife, they begin with the serious hi-tech houl journey that is "Cerchio" sure to cause some proper dancefloor drama. They then take things further down the spiral with the brooding "Distorted Foam", a deep and tunnelling affair that's perfect to create some mysterious mood lighting earlier in your set. With its hypnotic synth leads and razor sharp bassline leading the way, it's totally mesmerising. Finally, "Panorama" ends the impressive EP on a slightly more optimistic note - this mellow groove featuring a lush bell melody, ethereal pads and slow burning tribal rhythms takes you back up the vortex and triumphantly towards the light.

Review: Berlin native Oliver Koletzki has cited his hometown as a main point of reference and inspiration throughout his career. His last two albums are said to be 'wholehearted tributes' to the German capital and its importance in the current climate of electronic music. The label's aesthetic - right down to the cover art is testament to this - featuring photos of local landmarks and graffiti adorning his fair city. There are little to no corners in the city that haven't brought a spark of inspiration into the mix and the eighth instalment of the Schneeweiss (English translation 'white snow') compilation series, is said to be a tribute to the many aspects or 'particles' consolidated as a series of carefully curated tracks. There's so many highlights on here and we're only going to name a few, but they're not limited to: hometown hero and one time Terranova member Rampa's brooding dance floor drama on "Fluke", Frankey & Sandrino bridging the gap between tech-house and nu-disco ever so gracefully again on "Solaris", Cologne's finest Andhim lend their deft hand on a remix of Leipzig figurehead Matthias Tanzmann's "Coffee Clouds" and the man from Mannheim Ray Okpara who's still going: his track "Satin Curtain" getting a smooth remix by the legendary Kevin Yost.

Review: With releases on labels like Poker Flat and Stil Vor Talent to their credit, it's clear that Fideles aka Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti are making a big impression. The Italian duo's music achieves this effect on Impressum, their first outing for Tale of Us' label. The title track is built on tough kicks and rasping percussion, while eerie hooks and ominous hooks swirl through to the foreground. "Hadar" revolves around the kind of menacing bass that you'd associate with Oliver Huntemann, but the pair make it their own, fusing it with mesmerising trance hooks. "The Tensior" is even more intense, thanks to its warbling low end and reversed filters, while "Avior" is all grandiose synth sweeps, supported by a frazzled, bleak bass.

Review: Congratulations to long-running Berlin label Still Vor Talent, which has now notched up no less than 200 releases. To celebrate this milestone, the label has put together this fine celebratory compilation featuring contributions from "old and new faces". Fittingly, it's arguably one of the imprint's strongest and most varied releases to date. Of course, there's plenty of typically Germanic fusions of deep house and tech-house present, but also the Arabic-influenced deep house exotica of Sam Shure, the rising, piano-laden dancefloor bliss of Oliver Koletzki's "Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously", the heavily electronic, club-ready psychedelia of Fideles ("Dark Stone") and the lilting melodies of Deorbiting's warm and picturesque "Warnsignal".

Review: It's that time again where Dixon, Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann serve up another edition of their Secret Weapons series which always lives up to its name; just they aren't that secret anymore thankfully! As always the Innervisions camp present a real mix up of names from across the board of house and techno and there's some pleasant surprises once again. Starting off with Belgian tech house heroes Raw District with the brooding and suspense filled "From The Inside" which is the kind of track you could really imagine Dixon playing to a festival crowd. Berlin legend Oliver Deutschmann (Falkplatz/Vidab) with the dreamy and hypnotic "Control" was great too. Elsewhere there's Southern German merchant of dark journey tracks Tim Engelhardt representing the new garde (alongside Bog) with "No More Words" featuring some wonky synth leads and minimal techno legend Marc Houle with the cheeky retro EBM jack of "Tomboyz". Honourable mention to the Valence/Delft affiliated GoldFfinch with the tough reductionist techno jam "The Hidden"

Review: Berlin tech house institution Still Vor Talent return with some real heat courtesy of local heroes. First up Fideles provides the dark, pop inflected journey track "Vitamins" whith its humming sub bass and moody atmospherics combined with Haptic's gorgoius vocals; this will cause some dancefloor drama be assured. "Wave Echoes" up next ups the ante on this peak time mission through the parklands. There's some epic 'whoomp' in the synth lead for this one so be prepared. It's then over to Kellerkind who is fresh off some killer tracks for the likes of local crew Kattermukke. On "Sub Zero" its yet another catchy deep house groove on the futurist side with irestitable pop elements and sexy vocals but it's more straight head on the slinky, late night tech house of "Take Your Soul".
