Review: Ghetto Dub Recordings have a long history of putting out music that takes no prisoners on the dancefloor and, whilst we're still clubless, this superb breaks-focused various artists compilation is sure to get your gun fingers raised at home. 'Feel' is the most interesting of the bunch, with an almost grime like approach to its steppy percussion and structured drum claps that reminds us of Diemantle. 'Nastya' is the other highlight, with a piercingly choppy arrangement that sees jabbing stabs tumble over on another in their haste to mess you around, all tied together with a massive reece bass. Oh yes.

Review: Humdruma Recordingz always try their best to replicate the no-holds-barred, anarchic nature of life on the 19th century, American frontier and they do so via the aggressive tones of modern D&B. This is a best-of compilation of tracks that have come out through the label and it puts that ethos on good display, featuring some seriously weighty acts like Coda and Ikon B. The former's contribution is especially potent, a gargling display of production intensity and a lesson to all budding artists out there in how to create a knockout jump-up track, its biting bass stabs teaching you all you need to know. Ikon B's tune - 'Really' - is equally as naughty but it rests on a much more potent set of drum hits, giving it an extra oomph that you can certainly hear. The others are just as good - check em.

Review: Fifty tracks from Ghetto Dub. We'll repeat that; FIFTY tracks right here from the Bristol badassery stable! Fresh from the stashes of SR, Kumarachi, Aries, Vinyl Junkie, Conrad Subs, Octo Pi and many more on-point junglists across the generations, many of these tracks are brand new and all of them are heavier than a night down the Weight Watchers. Highlights include Conrad Sub's skanky groaner "Good As Gold", Jaguar Paw's utter filth session "Southside", Jay Aftermath's gnarly tech/soundsystem hybrid "The Jungle" and the pure rave purrs of Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion's "Outlandish"... But that's not even touching the sides of the fifty track attack. Dig deep and get rolling.

3 The Hardway Vol 9
ParaDigm - "Memories" (original mix) - (4:30) 57 BPM
Jaguar Paw - "Unarmed" (original mix) - (5:18) 58 BPM
Rassterlin - "Badbwoy" (radio edit) - (4:48) 59 BPM Hot
Review: For this triple of a VA, ASBO have roped in Paradigm, Jaguar Paw and Rassterlin for the 9th instalment in their Hardway series. Featuring 3 street-focused cuts, there's a plethora of styles here that make this EP an easy win for anybody who appreciates the diversity of music the scene has to offer. Paradigm lands with the old-school, junglist cut that isn't the most glamorous but which gets the job done in a fashion only the old school can. Jaguar Paw takes things up a notch in terms of heaviness, whilst Rassterlin gets all funky with an instantly recognisable set of samples and some stuttering junglist drums. Wicked, wicked.

3 Hard Way Vol 8
Durban - "Badman Sound" - (4:50) 174 BPM
Jaguar Paw - "Shoot Dont Talk" - (4:34) 58 BPM Hot
Rassterlin - "Magazine" - (4:22) 178 BPM
Review: You can have things the easy way; you live a sheltered existence, have everything served to you in pretty little parcels with bows and ribbons and listen to cheesy manufactured pop music. Or you can have things the "3 Hard Way" and slapped in those cheeky chops of yours by one of the most on point new talent championing labels in the jungle / rollers game right now. We know which path we've chosen. Listen to these three stank shock outs and you will too... Durban comes with those eerie downpitched rave keys and classic soundclash vocals, Jaguar Paw gets his spacious shake on while Asbo regular Rassterlin closes with more stabs and an all out vocal on "Magazine". Read all about it.

3 The Hardway Vol 7
Venom - "Saw" - (4:28) 175 BPM Hot
Jaguar Paw - "Sangre" - (6:05) 58 BPM
Rassterlin - "In The Jungle" - (5:20) 58 BPM
Review: Asbo smash off the top of 2018 with the seventh volume of their forward-thinking "3 The Hardway" series. Three tracks, three very distinctive vibes covering the whole label, there's no messing around: new signing Venom takes our head off with gnarled twists and turns on "Saw", Jaguar Paw adds a touch of sunset piano bless on his barbed, gritty roller "Sangre" while label mainstay Rassterlin gets all swampy, intense and dramatic on "In The Jungle". Come and have a go if you think you?re hardway enough...
