Review: Aderal arrives on Strike On like it's the apocalypse. Sending in two originals of block, rock and beats, "MCH" is a breakbeat techno megalith for the gothic techno crowd while the title-track is a rough yet linear groove with synths that maintain a sense of animosity throughout this EP. Keepsakes adds some extra smack to their remix with some punchy vocals while Makornik's remix rains down a mixhell of drums, air raid sirens and tear out special effects. Music for the underworld.

Review: Following on from 2020's Puerile Politics release, Keepsakes returns to his own Haven imprint for some more hard-hitting techno. "Peak Egoist" resounds to a cacophony of vocal samples and a grinding, gritty bass that powers its way through the arrangement. On "Malignant Motion", Keepsakes draws on the hard techno of 90s labels like Frankfurt Trax to craft a dystopian workout, fuelled by a bleak bass and driving drums. Meanwhile, "Mr Shakedown" sees the Haven boss push in a more visceral direction, courtesy of noisy feedback and pounding kick drums. Rounding off the release is "No Acceptance Uptown", a vocal sampling banger that moves from a wiry, jacking rhythm into a thrilling crescendo.

Review: Following on from 2018's first Forever split release, Perc Trax delivers a blinding second instalment. The chilling strings and pounding kicks of "Morning Sesh" by AnD set a frenetic pace for the release, but it can't compare to the intensity levels on Tymon's "Woodman". While it is considerably slower, the rough drums, skewed percussion and driving rhythm all come together to make for an exhilarating piece. D.A.V.E. The Drummer from the veteran Stay Up Forever collective drops a similarly inclined banger in the shape of "133.33000000000001", while Mickey Nox's "Filtered Metal" is all about the pounding kicks and bursts of white noise. Maintaining the peak-time sound, Keepsakes' "I Breathe Slow & Watch With Gusto" weaves chopped up vocals into its ghetto techno backing.

Review: The label arm of Dutch techno distributor Triple Vision delivers a fine compilation. It starts off in understated, sombre mode, with the rolling drums and woozy synths of tracks from Amotik and Refracted, before Codex Empire delves deeper with an atmospheric, break beat-led take on KAS:ST's "Raving Alone". That's not to say that Volume 8 is shy of dance floor tracks; from the rolling tribal groove of Setaoc Mass' "Light Falls" and the rave-infused "Generation X" from Deep Dimension to Remco Beekwilder's banging, chord-heavy "90's Mayhem", this is an expertly weighted and executed collection of modern techno.
