Review: New and established artists feature on the eighth instalment of Tronic's Rocket seres, with a wide variety of dance floor styles on offer. Radu Dracul gets the compilation off to a frenetic start as epic synths crash in over the pulsating groove of "Alpha". Meanwhile, on "Rattlesnake", Locos & Jam opt for a different approach, with howling analogue riffs unfolding over a breakneck-paced, percussive rhythm. The Southern's "Shake Your Body" is more in keeping with the label's in-house sound, with a rolling tribal groove underpinned by relentless snares and repetitive vocal loops, while Kimono's "Taking Souls" is a frosty, techno-trance affair, with echoes of Mathew Jonson.

Review: 2019 has been a busy year for Tronic, and this compilation provides some of the highlights to date. There's DJ Rush & Eric Sneo's rattling percussive "Take Me Back", which draws on gritty ghetto techno for inspiration, while at the other end of the spectrum, the brilliantly named Drunken Kong duo drop a massive, bass-heavy big room workout in the shape of "Two Rivers". Orbit also provides a reminder of the label's heritage, with the shimmering, tranced out "Tesla" by veteran German artist Oliver Lieb, and Christian Smith's long-time friend and musical collaborator Jon Selway delivering an awesomely moody electro reshape of Nematic's "Pecular".

Review: If Mark Knight and Co. aren't busy enough celebrating Toolroom's big 15 year birthday at present (and its global parties in celebration of it), they've also found enough time for another mandatory volume in their esteemed Ibiza Underground series. With another collection of surefire hits and soon to be anthems that are sure to rock The White Isle this summer - this is all you need right here. A wide range of cuts (50 to be exact) that venture into darker territories come from the likes of New York duo Blondes on the fierce and broken "Quality Of Life" (Struction remix), the surprising addition of Scottish IDM wunderkind Lanark Artefax's "Touch Absence" (Intimidating Stillness mix), Dutch techno-bass merchant Martyn on the futuristic "Feel The Magnetism" and American retrovert Matrixxman on the tunnelling acid trip "Horizon". Rest assured that there's faire more typical of the label like Josh Butler, Franky Rizardo, Rick Wakley and birthday guests Booka Shade. For your convenience, the collection comes as two continuous mixes as well.

Review: Following releases on MB Electronics and Toolroom, Loco & Jam debuted on Tronic back in 2016. Now they return with another perfectly executed big room release. The title track fuses vocal snippets and dramatic chord builds with stomping kicks, while on "Warped", the Northern Irish duo go deeper. The same attention to detail is there - audible on the subtle siren riffs and insistent percussion - but it takes longer for the same impact to take effect. "The End of It All" marks another shift, with the pair delivering a stripped back, metallic rhythm and eerie synth lines that seductively insinuate themselves into the arrangement.
