Will Saul - "By Your Side" (original mix) - (6:18) 83 BPM
Review: Alongside the likes of yourself, you can bet that Mark Knight & Co. will be also be a known presence at Amsterdam Dance Event in 2018 and indeed they'll be well prepared with the appropriate tools - as this killer compilation proves. Highlights on this annual edition come from Maceo Plex - whose remix of "Nervous Tics" (feat Holly Walker) by hot British duo Maribou State takes you to the dark side, label chief Knight's massive rework of Sterling Void's eternal anthem "It's Alright" (feat Paris Brightledge) will surely get the hands in the air, as will Adesse Versions' edit of legend Kerri Chandler's "The Boom Can" and many others over the collection's five dozen tracks. To take you through every part of your trip, the album comes complete with three perfectly crafted and perfectly primed mixes.

Kingdoms In Colour
Beginner's Luck - (4:28) 81 BPM
Review: Much has changed for Maribou State since they delivered their breakthrough album, 'Portraits', in 2015. The runaway success of that album led to live performances at festivals across the globe, and in turn an opportunity to make their own field recordings of sounds - musical and otherwise - in a variety of far-flung locations. As a result, 'Kingdoms in Colour', their third album, is a much more wide-ranging and worldly-wise affair. It exudes warmth and humanity, with glistening tropical guitars and kaleidoscopic electronics rubbing shoulders with shuffling machine beats, jazzy live percussion, warped samples and hazy vocals (Holly Walker and Balearic outfit Khruangbin make notable guest appearances). As a result, Kingdoms of Colour more than lives up to its name, offering a memorable collection of songs and instrumentals bristling with brilliant ideas.

Portraits
Say More (eat Jono McCleery) - (4:23) 84 BPM
Review: Gorgeous sound manipulators Maribou Sate have brought their artfully tranquil atmospheres to their first full-length LP. There's been a warm and excited buzz around this release, perhaps due to the pair's way with soundscapes, texture and emotional release, maybe also thanks to their collaborations with Pedestrian and Jono McLeery. The hazy glow that drapes each track with a softness most producers seek to erase gives a sweetness to their sound. Sometimes melancholy, sometimes uplifting, always an experience, this album is just a little bit of beauty. Ignore the shimmering "Varkala" and risk missing out on something truly magical.
