Review: Constant Black is one of the numerous labels in UK artist Burnski's orbit. He's been a man on form on all fronts in recent years and here he snaps up Retrospect for a trio of super slick and funky minimal house cuts. 'Ay-up!' is a cheeky opener with subtle northern welcomes hidden in the mix as the lithe bass and 2-step tinged drums do their thang. It's reet good. 'Schneebly' gets more pacey and balmy, with silky and oily bass and kinetic drum work all underpinned by a sick bass tone. Last of all comes '4 U' which has something of an upright garage skip and downright irresistible groove. These are high functioning, charismatic cuts to pump up any floor.

Review: It's been a hot minute since we last saw the Low Pitched team in action as DJ Spookz's imprint returns for a vibrant new single from Retrospect, a Bristol / Brighton based producer whose sound continues to impress. The general vibe of this one seems to be pushing towards genre fusion as much as anything, as we hear stripped back melodic plucks placed above some seriously groovy drumwork, giving a really unique twist to the now incredibly popular UK funky sound, especially when we encounter that killer bass lead. As always, we are very happy to see the Low Pitched team back in action with a banger as big as this!

Review: For us, Articulate is a label that really needs no introduction. Known for their experimental take on UK funky, bass and dubstep, the team behind the project are constantly looking at expanding their sound into new areas, which is exactly what this shimmering new project from Retrospect achieves. The title track 'Jewel' is a perfect bassline & funky hybrid, driven by elegant grooves and grizzly bass sounds, alongside the high energy drum and chord movements across 'Hoko Dub' and the super dippy bass instrument flows of 'Huntsman'. It doesn't stop there however as Kotei and Fork & Knife get to work with uptempo grimey reworks of 'Jewel', with Limita working his UKG magic into his overhaul of 'Hoko Dub'.
