Review: To celebrate the 11th anniversary of Cologne party My Dear, its resident DJ Dennis Stockhausen has curated this compilation. It's an impressively diverse selection and ranges in sound from the ambience of Rising Sun's "Give" to leftfield tracks from Samo/Kamo and Fantastic Twins. Stockhausen also has an ear for distinctive dance floor tracks; this is evident from his inclusion of the deep techno of Wassermann's "R?slein Rot" and the wonderfully blurry, frazzled groove of Robag Wruhme's "Orugo Major" as Bogdan Marx. With My Dear rooted in the Kompakt stable it's no surprise that pop influences are never too far away, audible here on the seductive harmonic melodies of J?rgen Paape's "In Time".

Review: Following his release on DJ Koze's Pampa label earlier this year, Robag Wruhme delivers a hypnotic dance floor EP for Kompakt. The title track revolves around a resonating bass, ticking steely percussion and a rolling groove. It's more ominous-sounding than Wruhme's usual style and has echoes of early 90s UK techno. While "Blymon" is also an effective, driving affair, its is more in keeping with Wruhme's stripped back minimal releases and this approach is audible in the pitch-bent drops and skeletal percussive loops. "Cassave" is the most abstract of all cuts, with a cacophony of tonal blips and murky stabs driving the arrangement.

Review: Pampa offshoot Hart & Tief launched earlier in the year, via a split EP featuring tracks by Soulphiction and Mike Denhert. This time round, fellow German producers DJ Koze and Robag Wruhme are at the controls. Koze kicks things off with "Driven", a clanking, booty-shaking fusion of metallic percussion hits, resonating electronics, dub techno motifs, and minimalist textures. It feels a little like a contemporary Berlin take on early '90s Sheffield "clonk" (think Sweet Exorcist's Clonk's Coming album on Warp), which is no bad thing in our book. Wruhme's "X-mop 198" is a much more straightforward, early morning techno bubbler, albeit with similarly clanking percussion hits amongst the thumping kick drums and restless, one-note riffs.

Review: Germany's Musik Krause, a Freude Am Tanzen offshoot, has been looming on the back of our minds for quite some time. By that, we mean that we were wondering where the label had gone, and we were dearly missing their grey-scaled strand of teched-out deep house. This Reloaded compilation is a comprehensive collection of some of the label's best stuff from the last ten years, a much-needed revamping of tunes from the likes of Soulphiction, the great Portable, Workshop's Even Tuell, Jay Haze, and Metaboman. Check it out, this stuff is rare on physical format, so this is the place to go.

Review: The main reason why German producer Robag Wruhme is one of the few minimal producers who retains credibility is because he doesn't sound like anyone else. Cybekks is so soft and fragile that at times it feels like it's made of silk. Even the dance floor tracks, "Volta Cobby" and the title track are imbued with an eerie, dreamy sensibility, characterised by mournful melodies unfolding over ponderous basslines. However, Wruhme really shines on "Anton I" and "Anton II". The former is a beautifully reflective piano composition, while the second instalment is led by tinkering bells, sleepy, bucolic hooks and a vocal that warbles and flutters like a supernatural woodland being.

Review: There's something wonderfully fresh and breezy about this latest three-tracker from veteran German producer Robag Wruhme. The title track in particular bristles with melodic intent, as if Wruhme is desperate to free himself from the shackles of typically teutonic techno. With rolling, sun-kissed synths and bright-eyed pianos to the fore, Wruhme has delivered a slice of Balearic tech-house that has much in common with the work of Justus Kohncke or Partial Arts. "Wemmel" utilises some of the same sounds, roughing up the beats and adding ragged acid motifs for a decidedly old skool sound. Closer "Polch Dutto", meanwhile, offers a calmer, dubwise approach.
