Review: Toronto based Sven Lochenhoer is up next for the Dirtybird Select series with "Do You Love Me?" Lochenhoer first appeared for Claude Von Stroke's esteemed imprint with "Get Down To This" on 2016's BBQ compilation and this latest jam again fits the "Dirtybird sound like a glove." The title track is a cheeky, boompty and fun lovin' groove that will appeal to fans of Bristol's Will Clarke. "On and On" gets properly weird on you in wonky, trippy and swing fuelled fashion: perfect for the late night or the afterhours alike.
Review: The Main Course imprint ain't messing about with this their instalment of the Big Plates series. The usual suspects are involved, starting with Big Makk and the militant bass gunshot that is "Tabasco Sawse", followed hastily by the UK-laden, pseudo techno of "Spooky Hallway" from Sven Lochenhoer. Lux Groove offers a percussive feeding frenzy with the hard-hitting house slicer named "Keep Rockin", GAWP's "Vanilla Gorilla" is a bubbly tech-house slinger, and "Music Is Drohgz Too" by Jai Biotic manages to create a total hybrid from the best parts of house and dubstep wobble. Pull up!
Review: For those of you who can't make it, you can still enjoy these very tracks that will be thrashed on San Francisco institution Dirtybird's US tour this summer. This is the third edition of their Summer BBQ compilation titled Secret Sauce and it features an all-star cast. Starting things off in spectacular fashion with Chicago house legend Marshall Jefferson teaming up with L.A's Doorly on the wicked "Neanderthal', there's the wonky, bassbin rattling deepness of label mainstay Christian Martin (with Ardalan) on "Flight of The Pterodactyl" and rising star Justin Jay's pop-inflected epic "Broke The Law" featuring a bit of help from mates Sascha Robotti, Henry Was and vocals by Josh Taylor.
