Review: The pairing of Canadian producer Zander and Dallas pal Left/Right (aka Chris Lund) on the recent Can't stop single proved electric. Now, whilst they set to work on their follow up piece the Punks label present to us a selection of very fine remixes indeed. First up Hotfire step up to the plate with a sizzling 4 x 4 excursion full hissy hats, ascending/descending basslines, bleeps and lasers galore. Jay Robinson then takes control of things, really pushing the limits of bass with woofer-destroying effect. Finally Eyes Everywhere deliver a brooding hip-house jam that's full of bounce.
Review: Following on from a successful appearance on the Punks Warehouse Selection album, Canadian producer Zander now looks to the future by hooking up with Dallas resident Left/Right (aka Chris Lund). The results are electric and have already received props from the likes of The Crystal Method, MJ Cole, Krafty Kuts, Sly-One and Nick Thayer. "Cant' Stop" is a prime slice of brooding and intense breaks with serious dark alley vibes, all brought to life by some impressive synth work. Let's hope they keep these collaborations coming!
Review: Stanton Warriors have been on a mission to bring us the finest broken beat and heavy bass on Punks Music since 2001. Here the debut volume of the their new 'Punks Selection' series is curated by Mafia Kiss and focuses in 'on the deeper/stripped sounding side of the label's roster'. There is a whopping 22 track featured, as well as a one-hour DJ mix. Highlights include the urgent, haunted bounce of "The Oracle" by Leda Stray, the sultry, late night breakbeats of "K2" by Aloka and the scattershot ghetto beats of "Check Me Out" by Sly One.
