About Disco is a Brazillian disco and funk-fuelled label founded by Rafael Cancian in 2014. The glitterball-gleaming sounds of About Disco have been shaped by the likes of: The Funk District, NFC, Javi Frias, A Digital Needle, Levantine, Alexny, and Rafael Cancian himself. About Disco’s record design is instantly recognisable with tropical colours of fruits, flowers and fauna.
Review: With just a couple of previous EPs for U're Guay Records under his belt, Italian newcomer JP Disco (true identity unknown) comes to Brazil's About Disco label with a very solid two-tracker. Up first is 'Arena', which opens with lively percussion redolent of Booker T & The MGs' 'Soul Limbo', then settles down into a pulsing disco-house groove topped with looped-up vocal snips and squelchy analogue synth sounds. 'SS16' rides tuffer 4/4s and a walking disco bassline, but is really most notable for the wigged-out Hammonds that arrive round about the 2:30 mark... hep cats will dig this one for sure.
