Clown
Ronald - (7:34) 120 BPM
Pennywise - (7:24) 124 BPM Hot
Review: Japanese-Austrian producer Ken Hayakawa is a bit of a veteran when it comes to glitch-ready, minimalistic house and techno, ever expanding and evolving his sound through deep, dreamy harmonics. While he's released on a wide range of labels, he makes his debut here for Audiomatique, kicking off with the cerebral, progressive aesthetics of "Ronald", the sort of club banger for the early hours. "Pennywise" is similarly progressive in its movement, blending ethereal sounds with distorted bass frequencies, but the mood is more energetic here, redy and shaped up for pure dancefloor murder.

Affects The Spirit EP
Jane's Addiction - (7:47) 122 BPM
Affects The Spirit - (7:12) 122 BPM Hot
Ion - (8:17) 122 BPM
Review: Spirit is the latest in a series of collaborations between this Berlin duo on Steve Bug's Audiomatique - and it further cements their tripped out party sound. "Jane's Addiction" has nothing to do with the storied band of the same name and instead serves up a dubby rhythm and trance hooks that are held together by hissing, rasping percussive licks. The title track offers a slightly more restrained take on the duo's sound, with detached vocals underpinned by heavy bass tones, but soon enough, the pair return to their playful, tripped out approach as the spacey chords and squelchy acid of "Ion" demonstrate.

Glorified
Glorified (original mix) - (6:12) 123 BPM
Glorified (Rodriguez Jr remix) - (6:50) 125 BPM Hot
Review: Mikael Nordgren has always gone down the less travelled road, and this is apparent on his latest Tiger Stripes release, Glorified. Featuring raw, loopy beats fused with a surging, walking bass, the combination sounds close to incompatible, but Nordgren's deft arranging makes it work. By adding clipped drums and a tripped out vocal talking about 'glorifying' an unspecified individual, the busy elements sound perfectly ordered and placed. Rodriguez Jnr opts for a different tact with his version: starting with loose break beats and a swampy bass, he builds a woozy, out there mood by swathing the arrangement in dense chords.

3Days
3Days (original mix) - (7:52) 123 BPM
3Days (Mihalis Safras remix) - (6:21) 126 BPM Hot
Balance (original mix) - (8:45) 125 BPM
Review: On 3 Days, Wehbba shows that he's a hippie at heart. The title is a reference to the Woodstock festival, and the ultimate counter-culture event also appears in the music, with Wehbba weaving in samples from festival-goers as well as the organisers' infamous announcement about brown acid over solid tribal drums and sassy chord sequences. Remixer Mihalis Safras opts for a different approach. Providing his own version of what a 2011 party should sound like, the remix focuses on heavy claps, euphoria-inducing filters and insistent stabs. Finally, Wehbba takes it deeper with "Balance". Leaving the counter-culture rhetoric on hold, the rolling groove is fuelled by yelping acid lines - possibly a reference to acid house's own coming of age.

Pleasant Day
Pleasant Day (original mix) - (8:47) 126 BPM Hot
Aim (original mix) - (8:06) 124 BPM
Twist (original mix) - (8:24) 123 BPM
Review: Patrick Chardronnet returns to Audiomatique with some burning, late night tech house of the highest quality. The chunky groove and unforgettable synth stabs on "Pleasant Day" mark it out as the undisputed highlight of the EP - expect to hear this in sweat drenched clubs all summer long! "Aim" goes deeper still, with shuffling percussion and a killer breakdown, while "Twist" rounds off the package with an acid tinged trip through moody atmospherics and early morning delights.
