Review: Word on the street is that there's going to be a YouGov petition to get DJ Hybrid to change the name of Deep In The Jungle to something more honest such as Absolutely Banging In The Jungle or Rinsing Hard In The Jungle. He's going to have to with cuts like these from Lowriderz or trading standards will be on to him... Each cut is a walloping floor-flattener! Highlights include the really sleazy dark feeling with 'Soundbwoy' (featuring Enek) and the raw funk fusion and snake-like percussion of 'Hybrid Skank VIP' but the whole EP totally wallops. DJ Hybrid's Deep In The Jungle look back over the last few years of skankings, tear-ups and vibe missions and curate them all in this awesome compilation that stretches the entire jungle drum & bass spectrum. From the classic Bristol style bubbles and bumps of cuts like Conrad Subs' 'It Goes On' to the more traditional junglistic savagery of cuts like Lupo's 'Retrograde', over 30 cuts we're treated to some beautiful 174BPM moments. Other highlights include the emotional 'Must Remember' from Critycal Dub, the powerful and poignant energy of the late great JDizz and the undying rawness of man like Kumarachi. Review: Last spotted on Deep In The Jungle's massive VA annual at the start of '23, newcomer Makaveli returns to the label with this epic slab of jungle head-benders. Each one of them hitting hard with the same raw vibe and skull tickling breaks the label has always been known and loved for, these are some high grade nugs for the summer. 'Everything For You', 'Deep In The Jungle' and 'Badbwoy Sound' all roll out like classic junglistic weapons while the finale cut 'Rollers Express' slows things down a tad to a smouldering 150. Perfect for those transitions. Makaveli, mom's spaghetti!

Review: The Deep In The Jungle crew have pulled one final box of goodies out from under the tree before their Christmas break, welcoming three very exciting creators inside for the the 9th edition of their 'Deep In The Jungle Anthems' series. We open up with a system rumbling riot in 'Feel It', which sees the smooth production abilities of Street Creeps join forces with Tasha Alice for a nostalgic slide through some throwback junglist flavour. Next, 'Clap Your Hands' welcomes K Jah inside for a chord driven bulge through swampy subs and crunchy drum processing to match, before we reach a powerful finale in 'Nation', DJ Gaw's killer closer, stacked in floaty pad expressions and tidy drum work to match. A lovely way to close out the year.
