Review: Ireland has become somewhat of a breeding ground for trance talent over the past few years. The likes of John O'Callaghan, Paul Webster, Neal Scarborough and many more all taking the sounds of the Emerald Isle to international climbs. The talent continues to flow, as High Contrast present the latest for Belfast's Stuart Millar on their NuBreed offshoot. Fast and furious, acid laded, uplifting trance with a throbbing bassline and meaty kick thrashing alongside piercing synth lines and acid laser beams. Power trance at its very best, that will no doubt tear from roof of any building you unleash it in!
Review: High Contrast NuBreed continues to do exactly what it says on the sleeve, uncovering another exciting talent in the form of Swede Niclas G for his second outing with the stable. There's no doubt Sweden is the leading breeding ground for EDM talent, with Niklas following debut single 'Finder', with the equally noteworthy 'Tracking'. Yet another high quality produced trance gem, he manages to effortlessly deliver a stadium sound that has smashed the likes of Energy, Crasher, and thrashed through most cities on the planet like a tornado. The crisp beats and growing bottom end give it a dynamic gritty edge to the floatier melodies... Rough with the smooth, and set to cause serious damage to all in its path
Review: There aren't many labels out there that do this kind of tech trance as well as High Contrast. Following in the path of Artento Divini, Jochen Miller, and Jonas Stenberg, relative newcomer MPT Project drops a rocking peaktime smash that will send the floors crazy. Much tougher and edgier then his previous 'Breathing In' and 'Millennium' this is led by a electric riff that twists and builds to fully unleash in the breakdown, whilst being fuelled throughout with razor sharp tech percussion and a relentless rolling bassline. Full fire sounds that will no doubt cause destruction.
Review: Dutch super-producer Joop has been back to his very best with his last couple of releases, and there is no sign of letting up as the next bomb of dance-floor destruction for High Contrast sees him lock horns with Lebanon's leading electronic force, Raneem. 'Plur' is packed full of drama and big room appeal, with Joops notoriously techy beats shuffling alongside a rumbling synth line and intricately panned infill's. The epic as always breakdown transcends from gentle pianos and warming pads to a rip roaring electric lead line that will quite simply erupt any club. As if that wasn't enough 'Poison Ivy' on the flip is another wicked tech trancer worthy of a release in its own right.. Turn these up, loud!!
Review: High Contrast have long ruled as one the most cutting edge and consistent labels in trance, and here they yet again deliver. Introducing Snatt & Vix to the Dutch label with a straight up club rocker. Techy and driving it rolls through an action packed 7 minutes which your floors wont be able to stand still too. The hands in the air big room break is ripped to shreds by a distorted synth line that will lift the atmosphere and excitement next level... this needs to be played loud!!
Review: When the likes of Markus Schulz are shouting "He's a name I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye out for in the near future", and subsequently signing to his own Coldharbour label.. It's probably about time he popped up in your tracklists. Melbourne hot property Aaron Camz drops a killer debut on the young blood NuBreed sub-label from High Contrast. Full fire tech trance that will smash through a big room speaker stack like a caged animal. Grube & Hovsepian and a more twisted cut from Raneem complete a gritty release full of dancefloor dynamite.
Review: Groovey tech trance all the way from New York city as promising talent Ali Mahmud returns to one of our favourite labels, following on from his last smash 'Pop Rocket'. This latest EP is of a similar high caliber with support already flying in from the likes of Schulz and Ferry. 'Angel Eyes' is an energetic party starter with shuffly percussion and a rip roaring synth lead. On the flip and our pick of the pair is 'Cala', with equal heights of energy contrasted with more emphasis on melodies and an all-round stronger uplifting edge.
Review: Get out of jail card from High Contrast!! Orlando based Noel Sanger uses the instantly recognizable sing-along vocal made famous in Donnie Darko, sweetly re-recorded by Soul In The Machine vocalist Chrysta Bell. With a chunky rolling groove driving it like runnaway train, while finely layered loops and that winning vocal subtly bubble on top. Noels own take heads straight for the main room peak hour while on the remix Chase Costello turns in something a little softer.. Both are certain to do the damage.
