Review: Dortmund's Flo Mrzdk is back, this time on Sollingen based imprint Kittball with "Drifting Away", a dark journey track that will fit right into the current status quo of tech house. This killer tune features moody elements, a wonky synth lead and an ultra-tight groove all round. Berlin hero David Keno's rendition is aimed squarely at Kater Blau's dancefloor on this tech-jazz-swing-thing. Finally, "Deep In The Woods" is yet another dark one where the synth lead is even wonkier, the vibe even more nefarious and the production values are top notch: dance floor drama galore right here!
Review: Since the end of the noughties, house aficionado Mason has been all over the house game, shooting off release after release for a large variety of labels, including the incorrigible Spinnin, out of Holland. This time, he's on Kittball Germany with "Live On Dreams", a pensive house tune for the opening sets, or even the closing sets - whatever you deem most appropriate! There's also an original radio edit, with a shorter, tighter groove for listening playback, and a remix from Affkt which delivers a higher concentration of percussion and drums. BAD!
Review: Frankfurt based funky house producer and Hohenreglar head honcho DJ Basti Grab is back with two servings of uplifting feel-good vibes on the Let Me Party With You EP. The title track has tough and gutsy drums, infectious and filtered disco loop goodness and soulful vocals to match. He teams up with buddy Vito for the charmingly titled "Blow Job" which by contrast is more suited to afterhour clubs on this dark and punchy minimal number in the vein of Hot Creations style stuff. If you can get past the obnoxious spoken word monologue over the top. Parental guidance recommended...
