Review: Jose Manuel's recent album for Music For Dreams, the mighty Excursion Africanism, brought plenty of new and refreshing outernationalism to the electronic scene, and we are pretty convinced about the fact that this is some of the best material to surface out of the label in a long while. Much to our pleasure, this is a full-service remix package, all planned out with the care and attention to detail that it deserves. First up, Islandman reworks "Babylon" into the most seductive of Balearic cuts to have graced our charts as of late, Mehmet Aslan's version of "Voices Of Africa" is a moody yet effective little house roller, the Perca dub cut of "Excursion Africanism" ticks all the tribal boxes in fine style, while Leo Mas and Fabrice's own dub version of "Hungry" is the perfect bit of outsider dance experimentation to complement this magnificently subtle EP.
