Hard On (acido mix) - (5:30)

Review: It's been a while since the disco loop was a common production technique - most recently, it was used effectively by minimal house producers like Thomas Melchior. To hear it deployed in this manner again is surprising, with J Grau opting for a fuller, maximalist approach. In real terms, this means that the drummy groove is fuelled by a dense, vocal-sampling loop, making for a DJ-friendly arrangement. The Acido remix doesn't introduce radical changes, apart from the presence of a dank 303, but there is a shift of direction on "Mucho Bajo (Solo)". There, another filtered loop prevails, accompanied by surging techno chords, like a lean, streamlined take on the 'party' sound of the late 90s.
