Review: The much lauded Seiji series continues with another couple of prime club joints from the Bugz In The Attic man. There's absolutely no messing with "Frustratin" as it rips into action on an uptempo funky techno tip. The spacious bass stabs and jacking hats are enough to make this a dancefloor smasher, before you even factor in the devastating use of one simple vocal lick twisted in a host of different ways. "Face Up" is no less banging, keeping the groove more Soca and the distractions to a minimum, jus about matching the pure thrill of its counterpart.
Review: The Bugz In The Attic man continues his run of form in the realms of UK Funky with another slew of uptempo stompers that boast the hallmark qualities of minimal elements aimed for maximum impact. The beats are your standard pumping affair, but really it's the cheeky musical elements that make these tracks. "No Other" has a wobbly bassline and some choice build-ups that keep the energy levels high. "Easy" wins out for a touch more subtlety typified in the muted rave bassline and occasional hat flairs, with a deadly breakdown for a brief moment of hands in the air.
Review: One of the more pleasing organic side effects of the recent cross genre pollination championed by Hessle Audio, Night Slugs and all around them has been how the community have embraced Seiji as an inspiration and peer. Here the Bugz pioneer continues his pledge of hitting the dancefloor with fresh bass biters every three months with the third of his conveniently titled Seiji Series. Both tracks hit hard in all the right places with "More Of You" wrapping a pitched vocal loop around woozed out synth flutters and undulating bass patterns to a backdrop of a syncopated flex that sits happily between 2 step, dubstep and techno. "Sticks" plays it straighter, laying down a 22nd century house template of stuttered vocal samples twisted around schizoid synth hits, jagged bass hits and tempo dropping beat programming. A release that drips production knowledge and dancefloor sensibility.
