Review: Frank Heinrich has been releasing music as Reboot for 16 years, notching up releases on such admired imprints as Cocoon, Get Physical, Cadenza, Circus and, most recently, Cecile Recordings. Here he delivers his first missive of 2023 via a Snatch! Raw label debut. He begins in forthright, peak-time ready style via the continual tease, build and release brilliance of 'Silk', where classic vocal snippets, moody loops and fizzing effects rise above a deep, weighty bassline and restless house beats. He flips the script on 'Jus Dance', a similarly sub-heavy shuffle through 21st century beatbox electro with a subtle tech-house twist, before opting for a DJ Sneak-influenced bumping deep house sound on sweat-soaked closing cut 'Feel'.

Review: Genghis Clan is another alias of the mighty Riva Starr who after releases for Dirtybird, Simma Black and This Ain't Bristol in the past is back on his very own Snatch! label here. He delivers two brand new cuts on this one: "I Am Brotherhood" is an expansive jam featuring one seriously bombastic bass and steely rhythms, supported by an enlightened vocal mantra. Second offering "Outta Control' is equally large but more minimalist but with a tough, boompty swagger throughout that's suitable for the warm-up or afterhours alike.

Review: Turning in a fresh slice of funk for the 2020-21 turn over period is Riva Star in collaboration with London-based singer Gavin Holligan. With Riva Starr adding a small cut up technique to the bebop skat style hats of Holligan's jazz style, flashed of strings dance with filtered house synths and a skipping groove in the disco entwined "Scat Dub". Moving on, a set of percussion pieces give a tropical vibe to the beefy drums and rollicking country, soul and western dance tip of "If I Could Only Be Sure (club mix)" - think Django Unchained deep in the club. Yee-haw!

Review: Riva Starr's Snatch! celebrate 10 years in the game in 2020, and this collection rounds up the best of their output over the latter half of that first decade. Tuff, chuggy tech-house is, unsurprisingly, the dominant sound here, but it's by no means all that's on offer - Rogue D flirts with 80s boogie on 'Take It Easy', for instance, while Soul Speech loops up Heatwave's 'Boogie Nights' on 'Soul Speech'. With tracks from the heavy-hitting likes of Max Chapman, Darius Syrossian, Steve Bug, Groove Armada, Wade and Denis Cruz, and cheeky reworks of classics like 'My Beat' and 'Pride (A Deeper Love)', there's useful ammunition here for house jocks of many different micro-persuasions.

"How We Live" is a deep, funky and groovy tech house jam that's perfectly geared for late night dancefloors and featuring G-Tech's moody and frantic vocal delivery. Fuse London staple Rich NxT gets onboard with a rendition which shows off his penchant for functional and tough rolling UK tech house, while Tom Cox, better known in the world of underground music as Tommy Vercetti, goes for a boompty and soulful deep house vibe in classic NYC style.

Review: Tom Bug hails from Zagreb in Croatia, where he heads up the Dobar House label. Here, though, he comes to Riva Starr's much-loved Snatch! with two high-quality cuts that will delight lovers of more 'traditional' house styles. With its big, stabby chords and diva wails, 'Changed My Life' itself pays homage to NY/NJ house and garage of the early 90s - albeit the spoken male vocal that plays over the top, discussing the legacy of clubs like Paradise Garage and The Loft, is a more contemporary touch. 'Dreamin' is a deeper, bassier groove, but there's still room for some of those classic pianos and diva vox...
