Review: The crew over at Subway Soundz have packed a serious box of weapons into this new drop, welcoming the enigmatic production abilities of Jay Jay inside for five rave-ready rollers. First up, 'No Drama' takes a high pitched synth screech and fuses it with gnarly LFO slides to match, before Blackhry arrives on 'Black Smoke' for a more abstract link, focussing on unique drum designs and super choppy rhythmic twitches. Next, pure jump up heat as the belching synth crunches of 'Atomic' and speaker-jamming subs switches of 'Rejected' provide back to back punchers, with the slapping drum arrangements of 'Radiation' bringing us to a cool finale. Nice!

Review: Two of God's own prototypes Krucial and D.Tactics link up on Subway Soundz for a psychedelic drive to Vegas and the results are too weird not to dance too and too rare to sleep on. Heavy, driving and full of weird twists and turns, 'Fear & Loathing' is a superb banger that keeps you on your toes from start to end. It's backed by Krucial's own 'Gunshot' which follows a more traditional line of dnb with a big swaggering groove and a bassline that stretches around the gaff like silly putty. Tune in, freak out.

Review: Long time collaborators Steryx and Breakout link up once again, this time on Subway Soundz. Taking off where they left us on releases such as their Bullets EP on Good 4 Nothing and their Rules EP on Serial Killaz, here we find them in a particularly spicy mindset with two of their grizzliest razz-ups to date. 'Unnecessary' is most definitely necessary with its old school early noughties Bristol style riffage while 'Run It' goes for more of a laser firing affair, all sheet metal slaps and alien textures. Keep it running.

Review: Kenji's having a bit of a moment this year isn't he? It's been release after released after release in recent months. And all on super respected labels, too... Grid, SASASAS, Higher Level, Escalation Sound and of course Subway where he's a regular these days. 'Headtop' (with Endo) sets the scene with lyrical prowess and a strong sense of grimey drama. Elsewhere 'Away' shows us Kenji's deeper side before flinging us into prang town in a Current Value style vibe while the other half of this EP boasts two massive collabs... Pengo joins in on the eerie stepper 'Can't Control Me' while Dispoze gets involved for the gritty sizzles and slaps of 'Shut It Down'. Mind your heads!

Review: Hey hey, it's Jay Jay! Returning to Subway Soundz once again - after a brief excursion or two on Octave and RIQYardrock - here he lays down the EP of his life in the form of 'Resistance'. Six tracks heavy (including a collab with Kenji), every cut hits hard in Jay Jay's unmistakable uncompromised way. Highlights include the croaky one note funk of 'Gangster', the slithering, alien worm-like groove of 'Ready' and the utterly euphoric jolt to the senses that is 'Move' but that's only half the EP... Review: Do not be fooled by this artist's name. We're not sure on much background information, but whoever Average is, they're most under-selling themselves... A powerful, dynamic, jump-up album based on Greek mythology does not come from an average place! Absolute heaviness and history fused and entwined with pure grot and filth; highlights include siren-like urgency of 'Poseidon', the sci-fi drama of 'Athena', the high pitched rifle riffage of 'Apollo' and the alarming energy and rawness of the ultimate finale 'Zeus'. Definitely not average material from Average.

Review: Fresh from his recent dispatch on Majistrate and Nu Elementz' Bites imprint, Baker now lays down two slabs of jump-up on Subway Soundz. First up is 'Immortal', a spiky weave of classic stabs over some razor sharp beats. It's backed up by a killer collabo, too. Forget the butcher and the candlestick maker, Slipz is actually the man for Baker right here as together they make a supreme sounds on 'Mofo'. Review: Clarkey gets busy on Subway with some of his sharpest jams to date. 'Captain Needa' sets the pace with its needle-like bass stabs and tense electrical surges. The energy remains up top throughout; 'Fate' plays with a smouldering vocal hook before going full neon lasers and a super dreamy breakdown while 'Euphoria' plays the long game with a massive build up that teases throughout the track while 'World Is Ending' brings the EP to a triumphant finale with its murderation sample and a strident sense of drama. Review: We now get to jump into a real treat from the Subway Soundz squad, welcoming Alphaze inside for five pieces of new school jump up heat. We begin with 'Effective' alongside Magenta, a crunchy roller, focussing on simple yet catchy basslines and nostalgic vocal cuts, before 'Next One' ups the bass with more subby squelches. From here, D-Flex arrives with a vibrant display on 'Trouble', a monstrous original that is likely to tear the dance to shreds, with Froidy's additional production punches of 'Tipped Off' giving us a secondary gut puncher. Finally, the pressure reaches the maximum bubbling point as the grizzly LFO sweeps of 'Talk Bout' gives us one final dosage of bassy goodness, putting the final touches on this wicked selection.
