Demuro - (5:01) 138 BPM
Review: When you see Hudson Mohawke and Nikki Nair are in town, you know you are in for one hell of a ride, as the pair combine for a collection of rave-ready anthems, juiced to the max with original dancefloor energy. First up, Tayla Parx unloads a vibrant vocal skip through moogy bass tones and catchy chord progressions of 'Set The Roof', which certainly sets the high energy tone. Next, the disorientingly glitchy melodic pings and drum syncopation of 'More Recently' sends us down an entirely different avenue of creativity, with the sundrenched melodic scoops and abstract sound design of 'Demuro' gives us a bubbly finisher.

Review: Warp Records present the sixth album by famed American producer Flying Lotus. For the Flamagra LP, the Los Angeles-based artist (real name Steven Ellison) said that he had gathered different material from over the past five years to present on this LP - and he had considered creating a thematic album with a fire concept during that time. A wide selection of moods and grooves are delivered in his idiosyncratic and multifaceted style, with a real 'who's who' in terms of guests. From the blunted urban flavour of "More" (ft. Anderson .Paak), the lo-slung P-funk attack of "Burning Down The House" (ft. George Clinton) through to more abstract soundscape/spoken word pieces like "Fire Is Coming" featuring the one and only David Lynch (this one was said to be a huge influence on the album's aesthetic, Ellison said) and also the good old fashioned soul power of "The Climb" (ft. Thundercat).

Review: DJ Nigga Fox has been a pet favourite of Juno for quite some time. In fact, we even invited the dude for a little mix back in the day, so we're relentlessly keen to hear everything he's coming up with. Unsurprisingly, the UK's largest independent label, London's mythical Warp, have spotted him talents and here her is with a killer new EP for the UK stable. These five tunes are all unmissable and, at the moment, we can't pick a bestie. What we do know is that you get five BAD-to-F*** cuts that stretch the boundaries of house, techno, bass, to a sort of groove much more in line with Africa's rich dynasty of percussive music. Portugal is waving the Lion high these days, and DJ Nigga Fox is one of its most trusted guiders.

Review: As funky continues to make a well fueled reemergence across the UK, we are always excited to hear new creative approaches to the classic kuduro formula. With this new single entitled Podor Do Vento we hear a complete rethink in the way that funky can be composed. Off the cuff and unpredictable percussive melodies swing from side to side in hammocks above classy basslines and groovy drum rhythms, making this one a real sneak peak into the future.

Review: Kelela's Hallucinogen isn't technically a new release. In truth, all of these tunes have been out already on Warp; the first part of the release featured all the original cuts while the second focused solely on remixes. However, there's just something right about releasing them together under one roof...the timing of this thing is just right given the artist's recent touring schedule. Her style is what we would call 'SDM', or 'Seductive Dance Music', which basically means a gorgeous blend of electronica and r&b vocalism, all tied together by that unmistakable Warp charm. Fans of artists like Throwing Shade will appreciate tunes like "A Message" or "Rewind", not to mention other pearls like the lead tune "Hallucinogens". The remixes all offer different and equally enticing.

Sonne (Machinedrum remix) - (3:32) 85 BPM
Review: London-based electronic duo Patten released their second album for Warp in 2016 entitled ? which served up some interesting takes on the modern electro sound. Taken from the same album is the track "Sonne" which in its original format was fierce and full frontal with its precision beats plus restrained bass pulsations. However, the Hotflush affiliated Travis Stewart aka Machinedrum delivers a much more splintered and angular take on the track here, which will have you equally impressed.

Review: The UK's Patten duo have already appeared on London's timeless Warp stable, but this latest album truly feels like their most accomplished work to date. That's because this particular style of experimentalism is full of direction, nothing is used for the sake of it, and all their sounds are perfectly balanced with another. It almost feels like a mathematical ride through the deepest, most convoluted corners of UK bass music, an aspect of these tunes that we love. Moreover, they make total sense as one whole unit of sound and, rather than being disparate slices of leftfield, they move and evolve with each other for the whole duration of the album. We won't go into details because this is music to be interpreted freely, much like the majority of this label's never-ending pit of goodness. Recommended.

A lot has happened in the world of Hud Mo in the six 6 years since his Warp issued debut set Butter (hello Kanye) and the 14 track Lanterns comes across as a more compelling and adventurous album from the Scottish producer. Featuring some interesting guest appearances (Anthony Hegarty, Irfane, Miguel, Ruckazoid, Jhene Aiko) it's clear Lanterns is being presented as a chance for Birchard to reach the next level, and packs in a whole load of musical ideas along the way.

Review: Globe-conquering beatsmith Hudson Mohawke has been sparing with the material he has issued recently, but he's back on Warp with a new single that promises to tickle the earbuds of as many drive-time listeners as club-ready heads. "Very First Breath" features Irfane on vocal for a highly strung delivery that sits naturally on top of HudMo's searing synth lines and whip-crack beats. Boys Noize then takes on the pop tones and charges them up with an anthemic house backdrop on both the "Turbine" and "Classic" mixes, which will no doubt get plenty of hands reaching to the sun on any number of crowd-pleasing terraces this summer.

Review: Given how damn prolific Tom Jenkinson is, it's hard to believe Damogen Furies is the first Squarepusher album in three years. Issued through regular hub Warp, Damogen Furies is the thirteenth Squarepusher album and in order to keep things fresh Jenkinson apparently decided to record all the tracks in one take without any subsequent edits. He's quoted as using words like brutal and visceral in the sales notes and those are definitely feelings that come up when listening to Damogen Furies. The opening two tracks "D Frozen Aac" and "Kwang Bass" which sound like Daft Punk pulled backwards through a vacuum and an arcade machine desiccated respectively, set the tone for the album as a whole. Very Squarepusher.

Review: Tapping up the fertile Lisbon scene and its proud individualistic electronic music, Warp Records presents the first volume of CARGAA in a move that will no doubt break the sounds of these artists through to a wider audience, much as happened with the Chicago footwork producers on Planet Mu's Bangs & Works compilations. DJ Marfox and DJ Newdyt Fox kick the EP off with a searing blend of peak time hype full of pealing leads, off beat percussion and subby booms. DJ Nigga Fox meanwhile takes things a little slower, plays down the synth lines and lets the percussion come further forwards in a head-spinning melee of polyrhythms. There's also string laden emotion from Blacksea Naoo MAya, and a sprightly slice of wonky house from DJ Ly-COox proving that in Portugal's capital a whole lot of influences feed into a very unique melting pot.

Review: While his Numbers contemporaries Jackmaster and Hudson Mohawke have been courting international superstardom (the latter soundtracking Apple ads and working with Lil Wayne and Drake), Rustie has stayed true to his roots. This second full-length - the follow-up to acclaimed 2011 debut Glass Swords - proves that it was a wise strategy. Green Language is a storming set, delivering blends of crunk, wonk-hop, 8-bit electronica, grime and post-dubstep rhythms that bristle with intergalactic synths and glassy-eyed, late night swagger. Rustie has carved out a niche of his own that's increasingly hard to define, but one that guarantees thrilling, next-level music. Green Language proves that emphatically.

Riff Through The Fog - (6:46)
Review: With his latest release, Chris Clark is clearly in the mood to make a few bones rattle. The electronica artist has certainly embraced plenty of dance tropes in the past, but they've tended to be portrayed under the influence of some kind of interference. While "Superscope" may still display plenty of wild tendencies (not least in its feisty breakdown), there's a discernible club-readiness about the pronounced and regular kick pattern, the hooky flute on the drop, and the general ease with which you can sink your teeth into everything about the track. "Riff Through The Fog" may display more esoteric tendencies with its lavish chiming melodies, but even there you can count on a steady heartbeat of rhythm where Clark can commonly be found throwing you off the beat.

Review: Never an easy artist to pin down for long, Mark Pritchard is back on his regular stomping ground of Warp Records after recent success with the likes of his Africa HiTech project. Following on from the leftfield madness of his Ghosts single, all manner of bass-led tropes get fed into a masher and twisted up with a fearsome level of sound design and party starting nouse. "1234" features the vocal delights of The Ragga Twins over a garage shuffle both addictive and futuristic in its finish while inspiring all manner of hype in the process, whether you want the original or the instrumental version. "Ghetto Blast" meanwhile gets stuck into a mean trap roll with plenty of wild sample hooks, and then "Lock Off" darts off the map with a cheeky uptempo cut of minimal percussion, primal samples and scattered flecks of jungle. "Soundboy Fuck Off" is more explicit in its use of old-skool rave tricks, from the nightmare stabs to the wild snare rushes, triggered without a shred of mercy for maximum floor damage.

Review: Following a thread started up with his Africa HiTech project with Steve Spacek, Mark Pritchard shifts shape once again but keeps that hyped-up flow going strong with this five-strong EP for Warp. There's plenty of juke flavour in the snapping beats of "Manabadman", bolstered by the patois delivery of Spikey Tee, while "Ghosts" channels a more trap-oriented beat through which to run rambunctious synths. "Duppies" makes for one of the centerpieces with its intense UK rave signifiers, from hoover bass to gruesome D&B stabs before deftly leaping into a jungle tear-out. "Get Wyld" mops up the mess with a sopping sponge of electro synth work hanging from a restrained drum track.

Review: Making their debut on Warp, Hudson Mohawke and Lunice proudly cross their beams to rain down a sick and slick kind of future-crunk, aptly demonstrated in in the introductory nature of bass-rich teaser "Top Floor" with its juke leanings and menacing posture. There's a detuned nature to the recognisable bleeps and wails on offer here while the beats remain crunchy and steadfast. "Higher Ground" is more overt in its use of juke to create a twisted kind of hype, while "Bugg'n" drips and drops in a loping vat of sub bass and slow-mo strangeness, leaving you with one of the oddest takes on the contemporary mess of electronic beats.

Review: Off the back of the widely lauded Glass Swords LP, Rustie peels off a prime slice of crossover potential with a radio edit of "Surph". Featuring Nightwave on vocals, it's a blindingly bright production that cuts it with the big budget chart toppers. Fusing the stacatto synth lines of trance, boogie lead lines and the chunky drum machine work of trap rap, it's as razor-sharp a production as you're ever likely to hear. All it takes is Nightwave's honey-coated (and vocodered) R&B croon to make this a serious contender for summertime radio smash.

Review: The Glaswegian's highly anticipated album on one of underground music's finest labels comes not a moment too soon. The 13-track album kicks off with the eponymous track of the album "Glass Swords" sets the tone for the piece, which quickly manifests itself to be a glorious fusion of R&B, hip-hop, dubstep, UKG, techno and even more esoteric sub-genres. Highlights from across the selection include the euphoric trance-tinged "Hover Traps", psychadelic "Ultra Thrizz" with its dubstep swagger and firing synths and lush "After Light". Glass Swords really is an album of our time, and we really urge you to check this one out.
