Review: If, when lost on the dancefloor you like to stare deep into the abyss, then the Rotten Dancer EP will take you there...and then some. Dutch dude Remco Geerts is back with two new excursions into utter filth. "You Can Do This" looks across the North Sea for inspiration touching on UKF, with some killer bottom end and doomy vocals. The doomy vibes continue on the decidedly more garagey "Wicked Whiskey On The Rocks".

Review: Resketch, aka Liverpool's own Steve Burnett, is on a bass-led roll right now and this collaboration with Infinite Machine seems very likely to up the heat even further. "Numf" is all Tropically tinged staccato drum breaks, pitch-bent rave pads and sped up vocal snippets. "It Could Be" is a very different beast, being a fluffy and melodic retro house affair complete with hazy diva wails and tweaked piano notes. "Reason For A Reason" is seductive futuristic R&B that gets a moody slow-clap makeover courtesy of Framework. Lead track "Numf" returns to end things on a high, with Liar's Herescu 14 mix opting for an upbeat, everything-and-the-kitchen-sink, electro-funk route.

Review: It's been a hot minute since we last saw the Low Pitched team in action as DJ Spookz's imprint returns for a vibrant new single from Retrospect, a Bristol / Brighton based producer whose sound continues to impress. The general vibe of this one seems to be pushing towards genre fusion as much as anything, as we hear stripped back melodic plucks placed above some seriously groovy drumwork, giving a really unique twist to the now incredibly popular UK funky sound, especially when we encounter that killer bass lead. As always, we are very happy to see the Low Pitched team back in action with a banger as big as this!

Review: For us, Articulate is a label that really needs no introduction. Known for their experimental take on UK funky, bass and dubstep, the team behind the project are constantly looking at expanding their sound into new areas, which is exactly what this shimmering new project from Retrospect achieves. The title track 'Jewel' is a perfect bassline & funky hybrid, driven by elegant grooves and grizzly bass sounds, alongside the high energy drum and chord movements across 'Hoko Dub' and the super dippy bass instrument flows of 'Huntsman'. It doesn't stop there however as Kotei and Fork & Knife get to work with uptempo grimey reworks of 'Jewel', with Limita working his UKG magic into his overhaul of 'Hoko Dub'.

Review: From successful blog-turned-label Palms Out Sounds, Copenhagen producer Dixone supplies the heavy electro and warped bass beats for bluesman Reverend Shine to sing over on this new six-track EP, Belligerent. A beautifully forward-thinking set of songs that really eschew all categorisation, Dixone's beat on title-tune "Belligerent" is the main draw - a slick midtempo mix of indie, tropical R&B and indie that echoes Jamie xx's recent love for steel drums. The Reverend's vocals are kept dubby, echoed and often pitched down as they float in and out of the icy garage of "Lay With Me" or the gravelly "Know One", but they lend this EP a haunting and very distinctive quality that combines to make it a must-hear.
