Review: Smelting the elements on Ray Keith's Dubplate Dread, young and unavoidable talent Alcemist whips up some of his most stinking fusions. 'Ignite' starts the engine with the soulful tones of Miriam Franklin purring over some naughty bassline groans while 'Minutes' keeps the vocal pressure with legendary MC 2Shy taking the lead over more gutter-chomping distorted basslines. Elsewhere 'Murda Dub' twists up some very strange croaky funk while 'Paradox' closes the EP with some proper breakbeat slappage.

And this isn't even the tip of the jungle iceberg here, there's so much to digest here. Huge.

Review: This various artists release from Born on Road is packed full of twisted sounds for you wrap your noggins around, and there's a sick blend of aesthetics and styles amongst all the filth. 'Turbulent Times' by Gray and Rider Shafique is wobbly and rolling, it packs all of its energy into the sub-bass and just flows out with style alongside some wicked MC work. 'Pieces of Eight' by Trex is a monstrosity of energy, with a superb drum section that packs more character into the arrangement than you can wag a finger at, whilst Bruk edges in over the top with 'Waps', showing what a hefty dose of technoid energy can bring to the beat. Big.

Review: Following massive dispatches on Born On Road, DNB Allstars and Incurzion, rising star Alcemist touches down at Biological Beats, an imprint renowned for supporting the most exciting new-gen artists. Artists like Alcemist who lays down two fat slabs of futurism for Fatman D's imprint; 'Visions' is a raw and warm rolling rough-about. Scuffy harmonics and ever-twisted melodic layers ensure something different hits you every time while the breaks guarantee forward motion. 'Attention' takes a deeper twist. Still raw and bumpy but charmed with dreamy vocal and hazy far-away vibes, it's another prime example of Alcemist's future-focused potential.

Review: DNB Allstars are one of the breakout labels of the last year or so, and it's all thanks to their huge online following on Instagram, where they post the creme de la creme of rave videos that make you shout 'oiii'. Their move over to actually releasing music has come not a moment too soon, and this is DNBFS005, courtesy of Alcemist. Gone is in the tough jump up side of the scene they've done so much to cultivate, and 'Don't You' is a highlight, with a soulful vocal resting above a jagged, rolling bassline that is set to tear up the dance.
