Clouds
Clouds - (7:20) 123 BPM
Groovin' - (6:36) 126 BPM Hot
Review: Running since 2016, London's Strictly Flava imprint describe their musical remit simply as "underground house and garage". That description sounds almost quaint as 2021 looms, but it's also a good clue as the trad-style vibes served up herein by the mysterious Blo. 'Clouds' is a late-night deep house groover par excellence, all warm bass and lingering pads with occasional cheeky, voicebox-like synth doodles on top, while the equally sumptuous 'Groovin' leans more towards classic deep New Jersey garage - in fact, we'd go so far as to say that if you'd spun this at +6 at the Frog & Nightgown, no-one would have batted an eyelid!

Back In The Days - (6:07) 130 BPM Hot
909 Problems - (5:46) 126 BPM
Review: There is so much joy to be had in unearthing a brand new Strictly Flava drop, who continue to do no wrong on this fantastic run of releases they find themselves upon. For this latest two track masterclass, the welcome in the soulful sounds of Blo, who kicks us off with nostalgic drifter in 'Back In The Days', a smooth, soulful roller packed with colour and charm. The good vibes continue on the flip as we are introduced to the more moogy textures and dance floor ready vibes of '909 Problems', with the title playing off it's clear hardware influences. Two belters, Strictly Flava style!

Review: A fine reissue of this third album by '70s Afro-funk band Blo, who were championed and produced at one time by The Small Faces' Ronnie Lane, sees a treasure trove of almost Can-like grooves become available for a whole new generation of music fans. "Mind Walk" holds a tense, Hammond-led vibe with plenty of jazzy drum fills worked into the funk, while the woozy soul of "Gotta Get Me A Better Head" finds the band tapping into JB-esque licks.
