Review: Wow, what a run it has been for the Night Bass team who hear touch down with their one hundredth official release, celebrating one of the most exceptional catalogues within the entire bass music spectrum. They have pulled together an exquisite line up for this one, featuring a tonne of high end names, including founder AC Slater alongside Chris Lorenzo, Flava D, Shift K3y, Jack Beats and more. For us there are a couple of clear stand outs on this one, the first of which has to be the long awaited release of Taiki Nulight and Dread Mc's bassy roller: 'Kush'. We also love the smooth subby bops of Sinden's 'Work That', along with the incredibly unique drum work of 'Ugly' from Petey Clicks.

Foot & Mouth
Foot & Mouth - (3:30) 129 BPM Hot
Nightmares - (3:58) 129 BPM
Review: No messing around on this one: the man-machine Lorenzo lays down a severe groove and gives it the grave name it deserves. Spiked-out, siren-loaded and prone to switching, "Foot & Mouth" is the type of gully tune we all need as we come down from a hot, sticky summer. "Nightmares" follows suit with a similarly detuned feel to the bassline, all paranoid, weirded out and non-standard... The main strength that's got Chris to his premiership position in the first place.

Sleep Talk
Sleep Talk - (5:53) 125 BPM
Review: Chris Lorenzo is a natural collaborator. To date, he's penned joint tracks with Hannah Wants, Chris Lake, Katy B and Donkie Punch. For Sleep Talk, he's joined forces with chanteuse Alex Mills, owner of a fine pair of honeyed tonsils. Musically, it's typical Lorenzo, with the producer underpinning Mills' R&B style vocals with dreamy pads, bouncy but robust beats, and a weighty, UK garage influenced bassline. Happily, it rises and falls in all the right places, with Lorenzo getting just the right balance between main room pump and radio-friendly sweetness. In other words, he's delivered another sizeable single.

Let Me Down (radio edit) - (4:26) 62 BPM
Let Me Down - (5:46) 62 BPM
Let Me Down (Nu Era bass mix) - (5:07) 128 BPM Hot
Let Me Down (JD Reid remix) - (3:45) 66 BPM
Review: For their latest release, the Midlands' finest, Four40, have secured a bit of an anthem courtesy of label stalwarts Pete Graham and Chris Lorenzo. Recruiting the geezerish vocal tones of another label veteran Jamie George, "Let Me Down" is an insanely catchy deep houser based around a repetitive dubby guitar lick and George's infectious naive melody. In other words, a hit. Elsewhere Nu Era go for bouncy big room wobble while JD Reid goes in the opposite delivering a mega slow T(rip) & B late night jam.

Juicy Bits EP
Naughty Good Girl - (6:21) 122 BPM Hot
Model - (6:21) 122 BPM
Body Low - (6:23) 122 BPM
Review: There's no doubting the intent behind this EP from Birmingham-based vocalist Charlotte Stikkylips and producer Chris Lorenzo (best known as one half of UKG/UK Funky/house fusionists Cause & Effect). Charlotte and Chris want you to move your posterior, and have crafted three dirty, borderline X-rated bass-house jams to do just that. The woozy, smoky "Naughty Good Girl" - where Stikkylips invites listeners to give her a firm smack to the backside over a lumbering, bass-heavy groove - sets the tone, before "Model" offers a woozier, acid house-influenced chugger to calm down any raging hormones. "Body Low", meanwhile, sits somewhere between the two other tracks - woozy and occasionally dreamy, but with thick, rumbling low end to get the sensual bits tingling.

Pete Graham, Ill Phil & Chris Lorenzo - "I Love You So" - (5:51) Hot
Pete Graham & Chris Lorenzo - "Who Remembers Cassettes?" - (5:52)
Review: Welcome to the odd world of Pete Graham, Ill Phil & Chris Lorenzo, a collaboration of Birmingham-based producers all well-versed in the worlds of house, grime and garage. Mixing up the three to create their unique sound, this offering showcases not only their production prowess but their truly twisted styles. Banging hard but somehow still smooth and fresh, "I Love You So" is part house, part garage, part grime and part dancefloor filling monster. On the flip "Who Remembers Cassettes?" is a vintage crate delve through breaks, classic house and '80s electro, ending up with a big bouncy UKG beat. Messed up in the best way.
