Review: Dance Concept boss Benny V teams up again with DJ Uniques, he of Hustlin Beats and Venomous Musik fame, for another serving of killer drum and bass on "Who's Ready". This one is a proper jump-up throwdown featuring the one and only MC Fearless (six time best crowd hype MC winner) on the mic, while you have a proper roller - old school style - on the tough one "Renegade Style" and things get pretty wonky on the darkside stepper "Flash Your Lighter". Some proper breakbeat science to be enjoyed on this offering.

Review: While this current non-raving era will never go down as anyone's favourite, it's safe to say the music has most definitely been on absolute firing form as artists have gone back to basics and delivered raw goods, ready for whenever the dance reopens. Raw good like 'Next Era' from two old sparring partners Benny V and DJ Uniques. Four tracks, four vibes; 'Next Era' is the big bubbler of the bunch, 'Tribal' is strictly for the deep heads while 'I Lied' has a little touch of the mid 90s to it, thanks to its stripped back charm. Last but not least we have the dark funk energy of 'Fallen Error'. Era me now!

Review: All time original jungle label outta Caledonian Road, London, is 24 Karat, a platform that since its inception in '94 has tirelessly delivered all matter of drum and bass that over the years has morphed through hip hop, grime and trap while remaining a central port of call for UK club culture. Deep into 2020 the label presents Heavy Hitters: Volume Two - a 23-track large compilation that brings back productions from new signings Armada, DugBass, Destiny and Sasha Khan ("Soundclash") to established regulars and in-house pioneers like DJ Direkt, Keith Patience, Pablo G and label boss Danny Styles. Introducing new flavours from the freshly signed H2O and Juxt with the dreddly "Danger Dubs", other highlights include DJ Direkt & Faysha's demented "Killa" alongside the the grubby dubs and rave of Dugbass in "The Lies". It's a knockout.

Review: Nice up the dance! Venomous hustler DJ Uniques makes his debut on Maad Ting with three bumping bubblers. "Dance Look Nice" sets the scene all nice and toasty thanks to warm chords on Uniques' side and even warmer vox from Jamaican English. Deeper into the EP we shake to find supreme bounce science on "Bushman" while "Big Ups" closes on a bashy flex. Brash amens, rubber ball bass and soothing guitar strums delivered just when you need them. Twice as nice.

Review: Kevlar Beats is named after the famous body armour and it's an apt label title for this EP from DJ Uniques, which to a track is tough, strong and built to withstand a night of battering. The breaks are furious, the basses and heavy and there's a strand of UK urban culture through reggae sampling and the like, it's a proper UK club release and we're loving it. 'The Bass Brother' is the highlight, a gorgeously heavy number with a perfect set of clattering drums that tumble over one another in their haste to hit you in the face. It exemplifies why this is such a sick EP - big ups to DJ Uniques.

Review: 24 Karat presumably get their name from the measurement for gold and this compilation is, by any stretch of the imagination, full of weight. Featuring tunes from artists old and new in the 24 Karat camp, this album stretches across 17 heavy, dancefloor numbers. The first outing, 'Heavy Hitters' by Danny Styles, is classic funk-into-dancefloor vibes and we love the array of twisting, snarling basses that fans of this producer will recognise. Danny is a regular throughout this one and he nails it consistently. Shouts also to Faysha on the sweet 'Heavy', as well as Keith Patience on thee crazy jungle number that is 'HeadShot'. Big.
