Review: The long-running collaboration between Angelis and Search has resulted in some fine minimal techno over the past decade, and "Diversity" upholds this strong track record. "Species" is a linear, stripped back affair with an austere feeling, like Samuli Kemppi in particularly gloomy form. "Genetic" offers a less intense approach thanks to the housey drums, but the more inviting rhythm is deceptive and the bleeps that at the outset are understated build and build into a shrieking cacophony of demented sound. By contrast, 'Nucleotide' offers fewer surprises, but it does see the duo deliver a linear, percussive affair that teems with menace as it progresses.

Review: Angeles and Search are experts in crafting purist techno and this release serves to highlight their talents. "Divisio" is an upfront affair, its pumping, snaking groove and insistent chord sequences making for great big room materia. Jonas Kopp contributes a remix of "Rhetorica", which has a similar approach, its rolling groove containing a filtered acidic riff. However, the duo impress most on "Partitio". It's less immediate than the other tracks, but its crisp drums and dark claps, coupled with atmospheric chords, ensure it's the highlight here.

Review: On the latest instalment of ANGLS, Dimi Angelis proves that 13 is only unlucky for some. The veteran producer delivers four club-primed techno cuts - with the incessant bells and pounding drums of "Shadowland" setting an intense tone. "Intergalactic" continues in this vein, with Angelis focused on a driving rhythm and intense, cacophonous percussion. "Crionics" resounds to a muddy bass and a relentless stab that cuts through the heads-down rhythm like a jagged laser. Last but by no means least is "Ice Warrior". Centred on a raw, grungy rhythm and cheese-wire percussion, like the rest of the release, it's a heads-down, late night affair.

Review: Dimi Angelis' latest EP describes itself as 'techno made for basements', and with support already garnered from Ben Sims and Dave Clarke, it's hard not to dispute this claim. "K-Scope" is a buzzing, niggling groove that resounds to insistent percussion and chiming bells, while Angelis brings up the intensity a few notches on "Sasquatch", where relentless stabs are looped over a dense drum pattern. "Crunchy Water" is a percussive workout swamped in wave upon wave of electronic tones, while "Dark Sneak" sees the Dutch producer display a modicum of restraint as atmospheric sound scapes play out over a tough, pounding rhythm.

Review: The first seven installments of the Herdersmat series comprised a vinyl box set. Now this eighth series sees four upcoming techno producers feature on one 12 inch. Dimi Angelis puts a focus on angular Detroit techno with the jittery "Green Aviation". Sciahri from Italy goes harder and heavier with the tough kicks and resonating bass of "Perplexity" and Endlec, who has already released a number of EPs on the label, puts the focus back on abrasive, hard-hitting techno courtesy of "Neurofunk". Tripeo's "Yfur" inhabits a similar space to Dimi Aneglis - but as always, the sense of menace remains thanks to its meaning, eerie synths.

Review: Moscow club Propaganda celebrates its twentieth anniversary by launching a label of the same name. It's testament to the club's ability to reinvent itself that it has put together such an inspired split release as its first offering. Dimi Angelis kicks starts the EP in blistering form with the 130bpm plus thundering tribal sound of "Crossfire". It's followed by UK techno veteran Kirk Degiorgio, who keeps the mood dark and foreboding with the murky bass and rickety drums of "The Convergence". Lag, who has released on Mord, keeps the pressure up with the chant-sampling minimalism of "Machine", before Unbalance brings down the curtain with "Blood Lust", an acid-seared tunnelling workout.

Review: Celebrating their tenth anniversaries, Mord and RYC deliver this superb compilation. Given the depth and breadth of their collective experience, this collection spans a range of sounds and styles. At the deeper end of the spectrum, there's the wonderful 90s melodies of Ritzi Lee's "Neutropia" and Amotik's "Laal", where hypnotic, Sleeparchive-esque tones bubble up over a stripped back groove. On a break beat tip, Uvb's "Mortifere" is a dense, mesmerising club track, while Brendon Moeller's "Hot Pursuit" resounds to a clanging, steely rhythm. The compilation has no shortage of club tracks either: there's the all-encompassing tonal builds of Bas Mooy's "Vedette", Kaiser's coruscating minimalism on "Disciplined Soldiers" and the gloomy industrial breaks of Orphx's "Slipping Through My Fingers".

Review: Bas Mooy's label brings together an impressive cast of producers for its latest compilation. The ominous bass on Mascon's "Nenner" lends the track an ebm sensibility, while Exium's "Dark Voids" is more in keeping with convention, fuelled by powerful filters and a steely, slamming rhythm. While there are intense contributions - in particular, Antony Doria's "Uprite" is visceral hard techno at its finest - Herdersmat impresses most when contributing artists provide their own interpretations of sub-genres. Takaaki Itoh's "Implement" is a mesmerising piece of hypnotic, droning techno, while on "Hdmt" UVB delivers a compelling version of Downwards' broken beat sound, replete with swirling textures.
