Review: Having broken out of the "Secret Garden", Oil Gangster Edgem now commences battle on the "Terror Fortress" with a depth plunge stepper that switches from halfstep to brutal two-step by way of gnarly RL Grime-style tones and textures. "I See Everything" bombards with synth-horn funk and bass so squelchy it makes a squid's pocket look dry. Further into the EP we're knocked flat by the droning low end a militant kicks on "Route One" before we're brought to a fittingly dramatic climax with orchestral dynamics on "The Crypt". Echoing the spirit of one of the most exciting times in bass music - when UKG spawned early versions of grime and dubstep 15 years ago - with contemporary production muscle, Edgem is a man who knows his roots as well as he knows his studio.
