Review: With a name like Honkey Phonk Records and a founder called Jayl Funk, it's no surprise to find this label comes with a stated dedicated to 'straight funky sounds'. This maxim is lived up to on this tenth label compilation, which coincidentally features ten tracks, with Jayl and his roster stepping up for some no-nonsense party music. This time round the label boss takes the lion's share of the release, providing seven new cuts including the chirpy retro strut of "Dirty", the bloc-rockin' breaks of "Rising" and the vintage sample-heavy ecstatic medley of "Don't Stop Movin". Other highlights include the bluesy funk-rock of "Bohannon" by EuPe and the raw underground 60s soul of "Let Me Do My Thing" by Voodoocuts. Quality party fodder.
