The Cure & The Cause (Atmos Blaq Remix)
The Cure & The Cause (Atmos Blaq remix) - (4:10) 120 BPM
The Cure & The Cause (radio edit) - (2:37) 127 BPM
The Cure & The Cause (Atmos Blaq extended remix) - (6:56) 120 BPM Hot
Review: Atmos Blaq weaves his magic on a Defected classic, transforming "The Cure & The Cause" into a captivating soundscape. The remix opens with a subtle intro, building anticipation with shimmering synths and a steady bassline. Tracey K's soulful vocals soon take center stage, their timeless emotionality perfectly preserved even as the track takes a new direction. The tempo slows down, allowing the melody to breathe and the groove to become more hypnotic. Dubby echoes and subtle percussion flourishes add depth and texture, creating a mesmerizing soundscape that invites introspection. Despite the shift in atmosphere, Tracey K's vocals retain their power. Their yearning and hopefulness resonate even more deeply within the remix's introspective soundscape. A well-executed remix that breathes new life into a classic tune.

Review: Following the success of last year's Reformed Classics compilation, which delivered fresh and forgotten remixes of some of the New York label's best-loved tracks, King Street Sounds has decided to repeat the exercise - with similarly pleasing results. With 26 high-grade revisions to choose from, picking highlights is tough, though our current favourites include Alaia and Gallo's booming, big room remix of Blaze, UDAUFL and Barbara Tucker's sensational sing-along 'Most Previous Love', Sinner & James' driving, bass-heavy stomp through Roland Clark and Urban Soul's 'President House', Midnight Swing's tough USG revision of Mood II Swing's 'Closer' and Art of Tones' joyous, super soulful disco-boogie take on Arturo Machiavelli and Lee Wilson's 'I Need Your Help'.

Reworks, Vol 1
Kyodai - "Breaking" (Felipe Gordon Latin Jazz rework) - (8:39) 122 BPM Hot
Fish Go Deep - "Off Script" (Felipe Gordon rework) - (6:58) 124 BPM
Review: Not content with delivering some of the most inspired original productions of the year (see his EPs on Shall Not Fade for starters), jazz-funk loving deep house star Felipe Gordon has now decided to showcase his talents as a remixer. He begins his first Reworks EP for Local Talk by taking on Kyodai's 'Breaking', delivering a fine revision that adds rubbery bass guitar, tight organ stabs, short vocal snippets and waves of delay-laden jazz piano solos to a rolling deep house groove. Gordon veers deeper into jazz-house territory on the accompanying remix of Fish Go Deep's 'Off Script', making the most of snaking clarinet and sax lines, sparkling synth stabs and a quality broken house beat. In a word: superb.

Off Script
Off Script - (6:37) 124 BPM Hot
Northern Reach - (7:27) 124 BPM
Review: Irish legends Fish Go Deep are back! Greg Dowling and Shane Johnson are the duo behind the hit "The Cure And The Cause" from the mid noughties and are still at it, releasing mainly on their own goDEEP imprint but this time appear on Mad Mats and Tooli's Local Talk. "Off Script" is deep (naturally) and dubby techno-soul; those emotive strings and Aril Brikha style synths are so Detroit, it's just brilliant! On the flip the dubby and rolling grooves continue with more soul in the circuitry on "Northern Reach". Nice one fellas, keep it up!

Deep Like EP
Deep, Like (original mix) - (6:09) 120 BPM Hot
Model One (original mix) - (6:02) 124 BPM
Dub Model (original mix) - (5:43) 124 BPM
Deep, Like (Dylan Debutt's Red Light remix) - (6:46) 124 BPM
Review: This four-tracker from Ireland's Fish Go Deep is something of a revelation. While their most recent releases have tended to be on the more upbeat side - big room deep house with easily identifiable hooks - Deep Like dives headfirst into the deeper side of the genre, with a pleasing emphasis on analogue beats, synths and instrumentation. The title track is a doozy, coming on like a lost Nu Groove classic with just enough contemporary oomph to keep modern dancefloors happy. "Dub Model" continues in this vein, throwing some warped 808 cowbells into the dubby, Rhodes-heavy pot to excellent effect.

Indian Summer EP
Indian Summer - (6:59) Hot
Summer Dub - (6:46) 124 BPM
Maxx Out - (6:14) 120 BPM
Review: Returning to raw, dancefloor attire, Fish Go Deep let loose on their latest release on their own imprint. "Indian Summer" is a rhythmic house builder, "Summer Dub" goes in a deeper, more stripped back direction and "Maxx Out" is a lighter, loop heavy groover complete with vocal climax. Lovely stuff from the Irish lords of the (deep house) dance.

Dub Weapons: Volume 1
Dub Weapon 1 - (6:57) 126 BPM Hot
Dub Weapon 2 - (7:11) 126 BPM
Dub Weapon 2 1 - (5:26) 126 BPM
Review: Best known for the worldwide smash The Cure and The Cause, Irish duo Fish Go Deep take a slight detour on this latest release. Stepping away from their soulful
House roots, these three tunes see them experiment with deeper, more Minimal sounds and vibes on Cork-based label Bastardo Electrico.

Even more sparse and icy than their Dub mix of FreezerRoom's Weapon of Choice from late last year, these are definitely going to tickle the fancy of any fans of Tech and Minimal. Dub Weapon 1 has a no-nonsense, straight line approach with chilly stabs of synth echoing over a rigid mix of kicks and hats. Weapon number 2 adds some drum-machine toms and a building chord progression that slowly reveals itself beautifully over another driving beat.

The same beat spills over onto a separate track, Dub Weapon 2.1, which adds up to over 12 minutes of goodness! Whether they're trying out some new excursions in House music, or just trying to finally live up to their name, this EP is indeed deep.
