Review: Run by two Tokyo based Frenchmen, Jazzy Couscous is a label rooted in a love for jazz and the urban movements it spawned: house, hip-hop and everything in between. A few years back, they tapped Rutilence co-head DJ Steaw (Steaward) for a remix of the legendary Susumu Yokota's timeless epic "Crystal Edge", taken from 1995's Metronome Melody LP. It was released on vinyl and limited to 300 copies exclusive to Juno Records. Three years later, this utterly evocative and sensual expression in late night mood music finally sees the light of day on digital. Essential!

Review: The ever impressive release roster of Joe Nice's Gourmet Beats imprint continuous to excel, this time bringing together the duo of Prism and Saule for a fantastic three track spread. The title track 'Grow Stronger' begins with funky disco arrangements, before descending into glitchy bitcrushed leads and scattered drum arrangements with a really cool shimmer. Prism steps up solo next for his weighty roller 'The Path' before Saule descends into the dungeon with his sub heavy designs across 'Backwards'. The pair's styles compliment each other heavily throughout, making this an extremely cohesive body of work!

Review: Originally released on Lovewave in 2010, "Future Samba" gets two contemporisations from both Prism himself and Mancunian artist Compa. The VIP adds more swing and fractures to the original's 4/4 while retaining all the jazzy mysticism of the horns. Compa's rub, meanwhile, takes things in a much spacier realm with pads so heavy and swooping they could align planets and trumpets so heavily processed you need to be in a coma to hear them. Welcome to the future.
