Review: Leipzig's Ranko is affilated with O*RS, OverDubClub and Pattern Select and serves up some lush deep house on this long player for Tieffrequent. This is a vinyl & digital label with a focus on house, deep house and deep disco. It was founded by Siggatunez in Berlin in 2013. It runs the whole gamut of moods and grooves on the Hedonism LP, from dusty hip-hop inspired joints reminiscent of Glenn Astro & Max Graef like on the great opener "Odds Ratio" or "Ballade Of Line 70" with its shimmering Rhodes and dope beats. "God's Son's Squad" goes for the rusty and smoked out cyclicality of MCDE's Raw Cuts series while on "Melting Dinosaur" he teams up with Rutkus for some straight up hip-hop biz.

Looking to L.A. and vintage boogie for inspiration this EP is tailor-made for happy-go-lucky summer vibes. Review: In their own words "O*RS is a fancier label, run by Leipzig-based DJ and producer Filburt & Berlin based graphic designer Florian Seidel since 2011" and this release commemorates their fifth anniversary so they must be doing something right. Starting out with Filburt's "Wasted Most Of My Life DJing In Nightclubs" a steady deep house jam with a sample repeating that very refrain; come on, life could we worse! Next up is the smooth and sleek production on Andreas Techer's soulful vocal house journey "Never Say Goodbye", M.ono & Loveless' "Luanda" (rusty/dusty deepness for fans of Money $ex et al) and brilliant closer "Eminent" by Ranko which is a chilled and blunted hip hop style jam perfect to listen to in headphones on your bike ride home from Distillery or Conne Island.

Review: Word about Leipzig's OverDubClub has spread to the heads and hearts of instrumental jam lovers right across Germany. Local artists regularly meet at the legendary Distillery (home to this 'beatmaker roundtable' since 2012) for some serious production with analog and digital instruments. This has led to the release of this crowdfunded compilation, which, over the course of 12 tracks, blurs the lines between lo-fi instrumental hip-hop, house, broken beat, cloud and post-dubstep.
