Review: Chief wranglers at PETS Recordings Wojciech and Grzegorz can certainly give each other a well deserved pat on the back for a seriously prolific 2018 - and this compilation is testament to the fact. Best Of 2018 features last year's greatest hits and near misses, with highlights not limited to: the pair themselves getting a moody and woozy rework of their track "Don't" by Live At Robert Johnson's Roman Flugel, the fabulous collaboration of heavyweights Matthew Dear, Joe Goddard & Eats Everything on "Love Games", through to Jesse Perez' edit of Mathias Kaden's "NoKick" which gets the Miami booty bass treatment, and the always reliable man from Madrid named Bawrut - who gets those classic house vibes in effect on "Your Job Is My Job".

Review: Here it is, the definitive review of the year that was 2018 by Hot Since 82 & Co. Featuring all the surefire dancefloor weapons that soundtracked one terrific year and that will no doubt burn up dancefloors for many more years to come. Highlights include the epic "Buggin'" by the Knee Deep In Sound head honcho himself, fellow Leeds heroes Audiojack on the funked-up "First Flight", the Hot Creations affiliated Richy Ahmed on the tough rolling tech house of "Technique" (D'julz remix) and Spanish veterans Chus & Ceballos delivering a wickedly deep dub for the back room on "Ain't Nobody" - among many others.

Review: Londoners Jonni Santos and Sam Holland, AKA Senzala, come to Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound in imprint with three no-nonsense house cuts made for moving booties on the dancefloor. 'Illusions' itself has very now-sounding techy beats but otherwise owes a big debt to the filter disco of the late 90s/early 00s. It's got energy to spare, too - one to save for peaktime! 'Sunset' is a deeper groove with vocal cut-ups and, again, much use of the filters, while finally 'Salina' surprises simply because title gives no clue that it's actually a tech-tinged rework of Santana-via-Candido disco classic 'Jingo'.

Review: French label Politics Of Dancing are back celebrating three years in the business (already!) with great releases by the likes of Lopaski, Carlos Sanchez and Two Diggers of Robsoul fame. There's a great cast on here to celebrate, with legends new school and old alike. Franck Roger's soulful, deep and uplifting "Night To Live", Berlin young gun Nick Beringer's deep swing on "Juicy Lucy", London underground hero James Barnsley's "Play The Game" and Senzala's "Spiral" too: which channels the early noughties tech house vibe of local legends D'julz or David Duriez. And there are many more highlights where they came from. Congrats!
