Review: Soul Deep's go-to West Country wayfarer Zen Dub returns with his first transmission of the year for the LA label, the pensively-titled Don't Wait 'Till It's Gone. His is a spiritual sound, forever on a quest to finesse that perfect balance between musical deepness and the crisp rhythmic patter of drum and bass. This four-tracker is vintage Zen Dub, bringing a sense of calm and soul from the moment lead track "All That Could Have Been" slips into gear. GA lends some swift lyrical flow to "The Kraken" whilst closer "Oracle" brings about a degree of darkness.

Review: West country wayfarer Zen Dub laid down a stunning spiritual document on Soul Deep earlier this year. It went down so well the US label have recruited a crack team of remixers to write five new chapters: Sektor makes great use of the hypnotic arpeggio on "Believe", Impish flips "Fading Memories" into a waspy roller with added drum detail, Tremah gets trippy with the reverse effects and spatial feels on "Rainy Days", Altered Perception galvanise the 'feel good' messages of "Shining On Me" (with a little more grit on the lower end) and HumaNature adds a really cool Prototypes-style electro feel to the bass on "End Of The Line". Finally Colossus closes the show with the darkest version of the collection with a slick two-step tear-up that's highly reminiscent of an early Commix joint. Please form an orderly queue.

Review: Zen dub comes from the music heartland this is Glastonbury, a place not particularly known for its drum and bass heritage, but a place filled with creative types all the same. Filling vast soundscapes with influences ranging from the liquid greats to impressionist piano maestros, and even samples taken from the outside world, it's a breathless race from inspiration to inspiration. That's the lovely thing about this EP, it never stops flowing into Zen Dub's next stream of consciousness. Each track is a positive sounding roll through old and new sounds, giving a real sense of potential. It's a great EP but just imagine what this guy's going to be producing a few months/years down the line.
