Review: There's a reason that Midnight Riot's eponymous compilations frequently charge to the top of the Juno Download charts. Put simply, they never disappoint. This ninth installment sticks to the now tried-and-tested formula - house-friendly re-edits and originals from across the disco, boogie, soul and funk spectrum - but predictably hits the spot throughout. As usual, there's a bonus mix - this time put together by globe-trotting scalpel jockey Rayko - and tracks come from both label regulars ('80s Child, Ziggy Phunk, Chewy Funk) and an impressive array of new or unheralded talents. It's in the latter category that you'll find some of the most impressive fare - see Phil Jaimes deliciously Balearic "Nowhere To Hide" and Cosmocomics' kaleidoscopic synth-funk jam "Mary Jane" - though the standard remains pleasingly high throughout.

Review: If you swap the first letters of Judge Funk's name, you get Fudge Junk. We're still trying to work out if that actually means anything at all. However, whilst we all ponder that existential question, lets listen to the music. Yam Who? pack five JF tracks in this single on their Midnight Riot label. Including their own take on "We Want Prince", where the original's crowd-chanting elastic bass hysteria becomes the funkiest disco-funk this side of Minneapolis. Elsewhere "Heads" is thumping mid-80s electro soul, "Rubbanova" is brassy, Loveboat-era boogie and "Deal With This" is deliriously glamorous shimmering disco-house escapism.

Various - "Roller Boogie DJ Mix" (continuous DJ mix By Yam Who?) - (1:04:48) 115 BPM
Review: If you weren't aware already, Yam Who? is one ambitious, tirelessly active chap. First emerging at the turn of the century with some superb edits of poppy R n'b (anyone remember his boogie take on "Frontin" by Pharrell?) the Yam master has gone on to build quite the empire with his Midnight Riot label. The latest MR release reflects his nature, a new mix featuring 20 killer rollerskate jams from friends as well as some outright classics. Highlights include the glistening, chrome-plated funk of George Kelly's "Turn It Up", the sleek and synthy 80s jam "Living A Lie" by Freekwency and the slammin Linn drum freestyle action of "On The Upside (High Drummer edit)" by Wonkar.

The City - (5:41) 121 BPM
United We Funk - (6:58) 123 BPM
Review: After releases on Phonica and Freerange, Chilean producer Massiande puts another uber-hip label notch on his production bedpost with a three-track, four-mix EP for Midnight Riot. The title track so convincingly works late 70s/early 80s tropes that only a distinctly 21st Century heft to the bottom end gives away its much more recent origins, while Moodena supplies a housier remix that tuffens up the beats while bringing the guitar to the fore. Elsewhere, 'The City' is all jazz piano licks and 3am deep house beats, while 'United We Funk' operates in more straight-up disco-house territory.

Who Do You Think You Are - (4:36) 100 BPM
Review: Another week, another new set of high grade re-edits from the Midnight Riot label. This time round, label boss Yam Who hands a debut to Stafford-based Dave Gerrard and Rob Bairstow's Greyskooledits project. Predictably, they head straight for peaktime dancefloors with opener "Saving My Love In", a brilliantly cut-up, hustlin' rework of a well-known disco classic. They dip the tempo a little on "Hesitate", impeccably stretching out and tweaking Salsoul Orchestra's "Runaway" for modern dancefloors. Even better is "Definite Strangeness", a brilliantly dubbed-out, beatbox electro tweak of Barbara Mason's "Another Man", while "Who Do You Think You Are" sees the duo brilliantly chop-up funk classic "Mr Big Stuff" in a vintage hip-hop breaks style.

Review: While gospel has always been a strong influence in the worlds of house and disco, the volume of spiritually charged dancefloor tracks has rocketed in recent times. Hence this fine compilation from Midnight Riot and "gospel supremo" the Showfa, which gathers together new, recent and overlooked gospel-fired dancefloor jams. We're particularly enjoying Yam Who and Alan Dixon's brilliant new version of the Soup Dragons' "I'm Free" - think classic, Balearic-era baggy house with more prominence given to the London Gospel Choir's vocals and Dixon's wild organ lines - Le Visiteur's low-slung re-edit of an old gospel-disco gem ("Let The Sunshine") and the rubbery boogie-gospel-goes-filter-house excitement of Benjamin Ferreira's "What U Will". That said, there's barely a duffer to be found amongst the 19 tracks on show, with the emphasis rightly on celebratory positivity throughout.

Review: The Sound of Detroit by one of it's unsung heroes, Amp Fiddlers new album Motor City Booty coming straight off the D Funk assembly line, a full on dance floor affair from Motown to P-Funk, Techno and Neo Soul. This 11 track album produced by Amp Fiddler & Yam Who? includes the massive 'Soul Fly' sounding like a Mark Ronson production had he been hanging out with George Clinton's Parlet followed by the bonafide P-Funk anthem 'Steppin' both featuring the stunning vocals by the Dames Brown girls. Amp Fiddler is credited for taking both a young J Dilla and also Q-Tip under his wing teaching them his Akai MPC techniques, setting the path for some of Hip Hops finest recordings which have defined the shape of things to come. His musical collaborations & current duties include: Moodymann's musical maestro, keyboard wizard for Theo Parrish's live band, a longstanding Funkadelic member, co-writer for Sly & Robbie, Prince, Maxwell, Jamiroquai & Seal to name a few.

Review: Midnight Riot's latest recruit, the wonderfully named His Dirty Secrets, hails from the steamy, sleazy surrounds of Miami. His music is similarly saucy, with this debut EP offering a sextet of tracks that effortlessly blend soul, disco, funk and boogie samples with his own warm, goodtime house sounds. There's naturally much to admire, from the funk-goes-house hustle of "When You Get The Groove" and bouncy, string-laden disco-house stomp of "Real Love" (built around an oh-so familiar classic), to the loved-up, slo-mo chug of "Sylvia", and rich deep house opener "Thug Life". All told, it's a strong collection of tried-and-tested dancefloor grooves.

Review: It may be detox January for some, but for Yam Who, it's champagne o'clock as he sees his label series reach its tenth volume. There's a mind boggling 27 tracks featured here, a veritable smorgasbord of deliciously disco tuneage. Highlights include the chaotic hiNRG of Seamus Haji's "ReLoved", the tough, but soulful, jacker "Many Lovers" by Judge Funk and the smooth, synth-boogie of "Takes Me Out" by G Prajekts.

Review: Midnight Riot isn't messing around with this collection of remixes of tracks from Detroit veteran Amp Fiddler's recent Motor City Booty set. Label boss Yam Who has pulled out all the stops, drawing on both Midnight Riot regulars and genuinely hot talents such as Eli Escobar (whose slick, soulful house rub of "Soul Fly Part 2" is a highlight), Thatmanmonkz, Inkswel and Mark E (who genuinely steals the show with a dreamy, mid-tempo take on "Superficial"). Taken as a whole, it's far more "killer" than "filler", with sterling contributions from Sam Redmore (dub-flecked Afro-house goodness), Kid Sublime (sun-kissed boogie-soul), chewy Rubs (low-slung disco-house heaviness), and Modified Man (synth-heavy broken beat).

Review: As you might extrapolate from the title, Riot In Lagos is Midnight Riot's tribute to the endearing influence of African dance music. In typical style, this is achieved through a blend of contemporary productions, sample-heavy cuts and edits of original African material. The standard is impressively high throughout, with little in the way of fluff or filler. Highlights include, but are not limited to, the inspired deep house/Afro-disco fusion of Mena & Melgado's "African Food", the rich deep house bump of Yam Who's "How We Do", the dense percussion and glistening guitars of Drop Out Orcherstra's Candido tribute, "Jin Go La", and the pitched-down, Fela-in-dub chug of Hober Mallow's "Egbe Mi O". Oh, and Jonny Walters' hypnotic Afro-boogie shuffler "Jam Bo Ree".

Review: Given the quality of Steve Werkshy' Young's expansive, nine-track debut on Late Shift - 2016's Reworks & More - we're not surprised that Yam Who has signed him to Midnight Riot. His first outing on the popular edit imprint contains a trio of immaculately crafted reworks. On opener "Don't You Want Me", he carefully fuses elements of '80s soul, jazz-funk and soul-flecked deep house to create a loose, saucer-eyed gem. He utilizes all of his knowledge of build-and-release structure on the similarly soulful "Surrender", which sounds like a 21st century update of the kind of proto-house dubs that were popular in the Paradise Garage circa 1986. He rounds off the EP with "Supermoon", a chunk of loopy, filter and delay heavy disco-house that rises and falls in all the right places.

Review: Hampshire-based Groove Motion - AKA DJ/production duo Wayne Altham and Jack Henwood - describe their style as "bangin' soulful music". Certainly, there's plenty of soul to be found throughout this debut release for Midnight Riot. Throughout, they impeccably blur the boundaries between re-edits, remixes and original productions, delivering new takes on classic tracks with plenty of cool musical flourishes. Check, for example, the deliciously evocative piano solos on their breezy house version of The Jones Girls' "Nights Over Egypt" (here renamed "To The Music"), or the sparkling guitars and tactile chords of Sade re-cut "Nothing Can". There's also a cheery, sun-flecked goodness to "So Good To Me", their house-friendly version of Donald Byrd's Paradise Garage classic "Love Has Come Around".

Review: There's no high concept behind Midnight Riot's latest compilation of label favourites and unheard cuts, just a desire to deliver "summer burners" to "make your body move". As usual, label boss Yam Who has gathered together a selection of original productions, re-edits and remixes that prioritize frenzied limb shaking. Highlights include a deliciously deep and woozy, Joey Negro style M+M rub of Soulpersona's "Sunset City", a bouncy, boogie-meets-nu-disco revision of Hypnotic Lovers' "Chemistry" by Birdee, the sax-laden disco-funk shuffle of Stephen King's "Hold On To You", some soaring peak-time disco edit business from Alan Dixon and a suitably cheery, talkbox-sporting rework of an underground disco classic by long-serving edit crew Drop Out Orchestra.

Review: It's become something of a cliche to point out Rayko's restless productivity, but it's nevertheless true that the Spanish producer does release rather a lot of material. To be fair to the Madrid man, this four-tracker for Midnight Riot is one of his stronger efforts. He begins with the life-affirming pianos and gospel vocals of "Hallelujah", before providing a sun-kissed re-dub of Fleetwood Mac's Balearic classic "Big Love" (here re-titled "Alone"). "That Sound" delivers an attractive blend of wiggly boogie synths, sharp riffs and fuzzy rock guitars, while "Get Loose" is a mostly instrumental re-recording of the Aleems' breakdance era electrofunk classic of the same name.

Review: You can always rely on the Midnight Riot label to pick up a party. Seriously they'd get people dancing in a morgue. Here label favourite Ziggy Phunk turns in four sweet and tasty reworks of obscure 80s dance cuts. "Give It To You" is a soft focus helium-voiced disco cut that puts The Bee Gees to shame, "Some Kinda Lover" is nearly seven minutes of tight and sharp 80s electro-soul, "Sneak Preview" is a shiny filtered pop gem that bears more than a passing resemblance to early Madonna, and "Stand Up" is a sped up celebration of guitars and trumpets.

Luckily for them they have the chops to justify the name and here they've rustled for slammin' scalpel jobs for the always-great Midnight Riot. The Xylophone-tastic, bass elastic joy of "Dye Nasty" kicks things off in fine style. Elsewhere things get slow and trippy with the soulful body music of "(I Wanna) Destiny", "Get Down" is seven minutes of sweeping, deep funk and "Want U" wraps things up with some shiny, happy boogie.

Review: Midnight Riot's first celebration of gospel-fired disco and boogie, "Take It To Church", was rather special, so hopes are naturally high for this follow-up. Happily, we can confirm that Yam Who and company have once again nailed the brief. As with its predecessor, the 23-track set offers up a scintillating, soulful mixture of bumpin' gospel house (see Redsoul's superb "Born Again" and DJ Spen's bass-heavy tweak of Boorman's "God's Got It"), righteous disco-house (the Showfa, Alan Dixon, the piano-heavy stomp of Yam Who's "Tomorrow"), synth-laden gospel boogie (Dr Packer, Yam Who's tidy revision of Andre Esput's "Call Me"), breezy sing-alongs (Lux Experience) and plenty of dusty disco, electrofunk soul rearrangements (Divine Situation, Sweet Jubilees, Phil Jaimes). In other words, it's another essential collection.

Review: 2015 has been a good year for Olivier Tunier, arguably one of the re-edit scene's most under-appreciated scalpel specialists. Having already unleashed fine EPs on Whiskey Disco, Phat Elephant and Hot Digits, the Amsterdam-based producer delivers another cracking quartet of reworks on Midnight Riot. As usual, he touches on a number of styles, moving from the percussive, strobe-lit disco hustle of the superb "Get Up", to the straightened-out Caribbean disco grooves of "Reggae Tempo", via the dense tropical percussion, jaunty horns and sweet Brazilian vocals of "Um Ba Yao". Best of all, though, is "Yes I Know My Way", a blinding blast of audio sunshine blessed with breezy piano hooks, impassioned blue-eyed soul vocals and deliciously swinging beats.

Review: As the year comes to a close, labels are naturally offering up celebratory compilations showcasing their strongest releases of 2019. The latest comes from Midnight Riot, a prolific imprint that rarely fails to serve up the fieriest contemporary disco heat. As you'd expect, the 26-track selection includes a blend of superb original productions (the nu-disco soul warmth of Jack Tyson Charles' "Glory", Alton Edwards sweaty, synth-bass propelled boogie-house gem "I Just Wanna Spend Time With You", the swirling disco headiness of Arthur Baker's "Reachin' Out") and re-edits/reworks (Dr Packer's gospel boogie revision "The Power", C Da Afro's disco-funk slammer "Party Purpose" and the suitably celebratory "Boogie On Time" by Ladies On Mars). As you'd expect, the quality threshold remains impressively high throughout.

Review: The brilliantly named Record Playerz, whose true identity is shrouded in secret, come(s) to the achingly hip Midnight Riot. In its original form, 'Hi NRG' pays tribute to the short-lived early 80s sub-genre of the same name: the BPMs might have dropped but the stuttering drum machine beats, analogue synths and vocodered vox are all present and correct. The In Flagranti Remix tones down some of the 80s excess and adds some lively percussion, but the standout here by far is the remix from Yam Who?, which could take the track to more straight-up house/disco floors.

Review: Scotland's Soup Dragons hit the mainstream in 1990 with their cover of the Rolling Stones' "I'm Free". The Glaswegian four-piece were synonymous with the emerging 'Madchester' sounds of the time and the track reached almost anthemic proportions. These modern perspectives by nu-disco giants Midnight Riot still do the song justice: label staples Yam Who? team up with Alan Dixon Remix for a gospel like remix that reaches near spiritual moments, then all the Riot Allstars team up for a sultry and dubby nu-disco rendition until the man himself - Hifi Sean aka Soup Dragon's frontman Sean Dickson - wraps it up with his driving funky house makeover which is superb.

Review: Given his long-held skill in creating funk-fuelled house bombs and disco-sampling dancefloor killers, it's perhaps unsurprising that Seamus Haji's Re-Loved reworks series has been so popular. He kicks off this fourth volume with the loopy, Frontline Orchestra cut-up jam "Gotta Get Away", before going deeper into orchestral disco territory on the superb "You Need Love". The Mighty Ryeders' rich roller-boogie classic "Evil Vibrations" is successfully chopped, looped and extended on stand-out "Evil Edit", while the skittish "I Need A Little More" offers a near perfect balance between stuttering edit-house, and original disco flavour. Midnight Riot boss Yam Who also delivers his own rework of that track, successfully turning it into a smooth nu-boogie roller.

Pick Up (Yam Who? edit) - (8:34) 127 BPM Hot
Disco Madness - (7:25) 125 BPM
Review: There's no doubt that DJ Koze's "Pick Up", a monster chunk of sweeping disco-house bliss built around elements borrowed from Melba Moore's "Pick Me Up, I'll Dance" has been one of the biggest cuts of 2018. Here, Yam Who delivers his own house-friendly rework of Koze's classic as part of Midnight Riot's "Dubplate Disco" series. We'd argue that it's even better than Koze's cut, primarily because it gets to the point far quicker than the German's stretched-out epic and utilizes more chorus repetitions. Arguably even bigger is flipside "Disco Madness", a thunderous and seriously heavy disco-house re-edit of a driving Teena Marie cut that's almost worth the admission price on its own.

Dot 40 manage to turn in a genuinely revelatory version of a classic in "I Believe", which impressively chops and loops a Jackson Sisters' classic before unleashing the song's party-starting powers as it progresses. GG re-invents a Modern Romance classic as a spiraling, Latin nu-disco throbber, while A Digital Needle make merry with another familiar disco-soul classic, impressively teasing out the vocal and instrumental solos. Best of all, though, is Fatneck's "Circulate", which subtly breathes new life into a White Isle-friendly blue-eyed soul classic.

He's released on a lot of labels over the years, but "Boogie On Time" marks his first outing on Midnight Riot. He begins with the title track, a heavily compressed chunk of celebratory disco-house cheeriness, before applying his trademark filter tracks to a punchier and more orchestral disco cut on "Ready To Go". Arguably even better is the sleazy, arpeggio-powered pump of EP standout "Sex Fantastic", while sparkling closing cut "Sexy Dancer" offers up an on-point revision of an electro-funk era disco workout.

Review: Over the last couple of years, Spanish producer James Rod has worked his way to the top of the nu-disco scene via a string of fine releases for Hot Digits, Audaz, Good Stuff and his own Golden Soul label. Night Class marks his first appearance on Midnight Riot, and predictably he's pulled out all the stops. The eight-track set effortlessly blurs the boundaries between house-friendly reworks and traditional re-edits, along the way serving up a string of dancefloor-ready bombs. Highlights include - but are not limited to - the electrofunk/disco hybrid "Kissing You", the synth-bass-heavy shuffle of "Ozila Boogie", the stuttering, edit-heavy freestyle flex of "Crushed", and the slammin', anthem-like brilliance of closer "Never Giving In".

Review: Although known as a nu-disco re-edit label, Midnight Riot regularly prefers the synthy, glitzy soul side of the '80s. No problem there, as much of that stuff crossed over to the disco side of things in that wonderful era of musical cross-pollination. Leading the charge is "Touch Of Magic", which basically takes all the best bits of Rose Royce's 1984 tropical synth-soul gem Magic Touch and makes it ten times better, Elsewhere we get a further five more slices of this shizzle including the deep, almost Balearic "Paradise" and the totally buggin' freak funk of "Taxis In Space".

Review: For the latest release on his prolific Midnight Riot label, Yam Who has parachuted in special scalpel agents Disco Troopers. The all-action All Night Long EP is a perfect showcase of their style, which blends big disco samples and even larger beats with original electronic elements inspired by acid house and Italo-disco. The EP's headline attraction is undoubtedly opener "All Night Long", which underpins surging orchestral disco samples with heavy analogue bass and crunchy house beats. The strangely familiar "Eleven" sees them expertly blended druggy TB-303 motifs with spacey chords and Italo-disco style arpeggio lines, while "Howlin" is a fuzzy, cosmic disco vocal cut for dancefloors that like their grooves wavy and psychedelic.

Review: Andalusian siblings the J&M Brothers are no newcomers to music production. Over the last six years, they've released a range of house, techno and disco tracks on a wide variety of labels. Fan The Flames sees them pop on Midnight Riot for the first time, with a quartet of tasty cuts that sneakily combine classic disco samples with their own beats, synths and musical flourishes. Cheery opener "Back To The Dancefloor", for example, embellishes samples from a killer old Peter Brown disco cut with sparkling new synths and wavering melody lines, while "Give It All" beefs up a head-nodding, 110 BPM disco-funk groove with chunkier drums and throbbing bass. Elsewhere, "You Got Me" is a sun-kissed chunk of Italo-disco/Balearic boogie fusion, while "Dubbing Funk" lives up to its' self-explanatory title.

Review: Following a pair of well-received outings on Ruben & Ra's Retrospective imprint, 1980s re-edit specialist Danny Worrall pops up on Midnight Riot with another five-track collection of electrofunk rubs. There's plenty of party-starting fodder on show, from the bustling horns and rubbery grooves of opener "Make You Mine" to the Prince style Purple Funk throb of "Hot", and shiny synths and looped vocals of "My Future is Clear". Arguably best of all, though, is the sumptuous '80s soul re cut "Secret Love". There's also a version of Hall & Oates "I Can't Go For That", though it barely changes the original's winning formula.

Review: They say that if you play every re-edit released by Rayko back-to-back, it would take you the same amount of time to listen as it would to get to the moon. The Spaniard seems keen to extend that imaginary journey further (to Mars, perhaps) as he's back with another rock-solid six-track salvo of tried-and-tested re-arrangements. We're particularly enjoying the squeezable, thickset electrofunk re-rubs "Waiting Too Much" and "Rescue" (notably, the latter also boasts a thrillingly heavy and prominent new synth bassline), though cheery electro-era synth-pop cut-job "Crush" is pretty darn tasty, too. Arguably the most sizeable peak-time revision of the lot is opener "Straight From The Heart", in which the Spanish tinkerer delivers a heavy, dubbed-out and celebratory take on a well-known disco anthem.

Review: Warrington-based 1980s obsessive Danny "80s Child" Worrall tends to eschew the obvious, delivering re-edits of '80s soul jams and overproduced, mid-'80s electrofunk curiosities. He's at it again here, dropping five more soulful, synth-laden nuggets for the Midnight Riot label. There's some saucer-eyed '80s soul in the shape of the touchy-feely "Missing", some gigantic, radio-friendly synth-rock ("Control"), and a dash of deliciously smooth, slow-dance fare ("Kiss U"). Better still is the New Jack Swing-flavoured dayglo rush of "Be Together", and "All Alone", a riotous electrofunk jam built around a familiar bassline and Shep Pettibone style drum edits.

Review: Warrington's Danny Worral has carved out a niche for himself delivering robust, floor-friendly re-edits that specifically rework synth-laden '80s electrofunk, soul and boogie jams. Here he presents his first album of reworks for regular home Midnight Riot. The source material is a mixture of the well known and slightly obscure, with the likes of the Whispers, Prince and the Aleems under the scalpel. Worral keeps the feel of the original tracks - including, in most cases, the vocals - giving them a little more contemporary dancefloor swing, largely thanks to extra-fat beats, subtle house rhythms and thick synth basslines. It's an attractive proposition for anyone who enjoys synth-laden '80s jams. Highlights are plentiful, from the glassy-eyed fun of the title track through to the soulful house shuffle of closer "In Your Life".

Review: DJ Mark Brickman arrived in South Beach in late 2000 and has been gracing the ears of house music fans ever since. As a DJ, producer and the current head of Miami's RaMBunktious Records, this veteran of the underground house music scene shows no signs of slowing down - and this new one for Midnight Riot is testament to that. There's a very familiar hook on the funked-up boogie down antics of "A Fifth Of Disco", followed similarly by the sultry, vocal-driven groove of "My Spirit" which is very much reminiscent of a classic. Finally, get stoned into the groove with the low slung "Keep On" which is derived from another oldie - but a goody!

Continuing on with his knack for disco-infused themes, his new offering in the form of half a dozen tracks for London's Midnight Riot sees him on form as always. There's a familiar hook on "Let Me Get Up" but a respectful enough edit nonetheless. Not to mention a bit of lo-slung funk for good measure on "This Feeling" and "Pushing" respectively, not to mention some sleek, feelgood slo-mo soul explosions like on "About Your Love".

Back on Midnight Riot, the zesty disco artiste slams down some chunky kick drums and funk-tastic basslines on "Everybody", the sort of nugget to make just about anyone move! "Somebody" is similarly seductive, dropping some dubby bass over soulful vocals, while "Dragging Around" feels like the instrumental cut - the DJ's ultimate weapon to get those hips moving! Yes, big Jack!

Review: Like many producers in the nu-disco scene, Motte first rose to prominence by offering up a string of superb re-edits online. Since then, he's released music on Purple Disco Records and Big Love, and here makes his bow on Yam Who's mighty Midnight Riot label. There's much to enjoy about title track "Darkroom Boogie", a rolling chunk of mid-tempo goodness that brilliantly re-invents an un-credited AOR disco track as a rubbery, funk-fuelled sing-along ripe for peak-time plays. Arguably even better is bonus cut "Mount U", a tidy re-edit of a lesser-celebrated, Solar Records style early '80s electrofunk cut high on punchy horns, elastic synths and eyes-closed male vocals.

They begin in confident mood, successfully looping up a breezy, impassioned vocal sample over a tooled-up disco-boogie groove on "Wings of Love", before "African Food" sees them stick a house rocket underneath a horn-heavy Afro-funk jam. "Instant Party" happily lives up to the promise of its' title, with chopped-up chants, spiraling sax links and goodtime grooves ensuring an energetic, club-ready feel. The EP also includes a tasty remix of "Wings of Love" from Masterworks and Hot Digits man Kiu D, who successfully drags the track further towards bumpin' disco-house territory.

Review: A rising star not just in the DJ world but now as a respected producer, Miss Kitty Katt has released a series of disco house workouts for some time - and her new Midnight Riot debut is no exception. Born and raised in Edinburgh into a soul music obsessed family, Natasha was introduced to rare soul, funk, boogie and rare disco from a young age. Some of her earliest musical influences would probably be classed as northern or modern soul. "Let's Make Love" is already causing dance floor mayhem with its fervent love fever, whilst the lo-slung boogie down jam "Windy City" is given a modern day revision. Originally a pirate radio anthem in the late 80s, Natasha Kitty Katt has turned out an intense late night bumper, full of swagger and will be a go to classic for years to come.

Here his latest missive, the Piano Weapon EP, features a variety of takes on a few of his tunes. The title track is a deep and hypnotic lounge funk workout, which gets a thumping 'jazz hands' remodel in a Jaydee Plastic Dreams referencing remix. Lastly "Feel This Grove" adds some much needed pan pipe action to the mix.
