And no one's rolling looser than the fast-rising Shield who's "Skippy Vinyl" is a horn-squeezing, day dreaming neo soul, bottom-heavy jam of the highest order. Lenzman, meanwhile, adds a little Dutch magic to "What She Wants" by re-focusing the vocal and adding a little more weight behind the harmonies. Good for the soul.

Mad Doc is up first with 'Turn It Up', which takes a ska organ riff and tops it with chunks of the vocal from Anderson Paak's 'Come Down', while adding a chorus that exhorts you to "turn it up on me, girl". Sono Rhizmo's accompanying '3 Miles Down' revisits the 1978 track of the same name by the Godfather of Rap himself, Gil Scott-Heron. With the former decrying police brutality while the latter laments the condition of the working man, this is re-edit culture with a political conscience for our woke times!

Review: Now over 20 years into their career, Latin-funk-big beat fusionists Skeewiff return with an album that touches on multiple music bases. The album opens with 'Starsky & June', an energetic slice of car chase funk that owes a considerable debt of inspiration to Isaac Hayes' classic 'Theme From Shaft'. Elsewhere, rapper Baby Bam guests on three tracks that will keep the hip-hop lovers happy, while jazzier flavas can be found on another trio of cuts featuring acid jazz survivors Brand New Heavies. One of these latter three, 'Cosmic Space Jam', is a particular standout, as is the rambunctious, 1920s-inspired 'Cheeky Charlie'.
