Review: Is it justified to say that pretty much every release on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder is a total winner? We like to think so. Lapalux aka Stuart Howard returns to the mighty imprint with this new extended EP, a five-track voyage into the unknown, aptly names The End Of Industry. Where does it go from here? Are we destined to be slaves of AI into the distant future? These are the sorts of questions and visions that emanate from this striking piece of work. Vast landscapes of electronics paint a desolate yet rich picture of the future, and we're wondering why Lapalux wasn't called up to orchestrate some of the soundtrack from the Blade Runner 2049. Highly recommended.

Review: Stephan Laubner is certainly an interesting character. A self-proclaimed mountain shut-in, he spends most of his days making shuffling, grainy techno sketch works under the STL moniker, almost exclusively for his own Something imprint. Once in a blue moon, he ventures outdoors to do make some field recordings. His latest LP is precisely what it says on the cover: a loose and wide-eyed collection of sound taken from multiple terrains. Although a departure form his STL tracks, it's exactly these sorts of sounds which make up Laubner's music, tiny shreds of organic energy that breathe life into his club tracks.

Review: For a slice of Heavenly Sweetness from arguably the best alt-contemporary jazz and spiritual label out there, may we reintroduce the sounds of four piece Laurent Bardainne & Tigre D'eau Douce! Having debuted last year with the four track Marvin EP, the group goes large with the Love Is Everywhere album taking in the freshest sounds of brass horns, percussion and free-lacin' cool jazz with all matter of rhodes, cowbells, drums and funkadelic basslines. For subtle disco vibrations look to "Bachibouzouk" alongside freer jazz compositions like "Cabane" and "Apaches". Recorded at ICP studios in Brussels the ensemble looks to ragtime in "Kinshasa" while keeping it mellow and subdued in "Everlasting Child" and spy movie themed in "Song Dong Hee".

Review: Having already issued a fine debut album for the Editions Mego label this year, Swedish artist Klara Lewis serves further notice of her clear talent for power electronics and expertly sculpted sonic design with this four-track release on Peder Mannerfelt Produktion. Msuic "I", "II", "III" and "IV" follow a similarly gloomy path to her album, where cavernous walls of noise erupt from every angle only to be swallowed back into a long tunnel of atmospherics and grey-scaled ambience. The fourth segment is particularly enticing, where Lewis blends field recordings together with flutters of distant, sinister horns and more tranquil soundscapes.

Review: Noted New York noisesmith Alan Licht has long been known as a man prepared to take the humble guitar into the outer realms, and so it is on this turn for Editions Mego. Running distorted squalls of six strings into a mess of electronic interference, this is no easy ride but there's a staggering amount of expression worked into the spluttering notes and ranging chords of Licht's Four Years dichotomy. Rarely resting in one sound for too long, this is far from the laborious patience-rewarding tropes of the noise scene and far more visceral, even as the cranky sonics give way to soothing harmonious passages. It may sound at times like an accidental racket, but anyone with a love of punk and hardcore will find this resonating with them like few other projects in the avant-garde world.
